Saw Evil Dead Burn yesterday and the setting definitely lends itself very well to a haunted house

I hope if the klowns rumor is true that Sting Alley does get used again, I mean it hasn't been used as scarezone since Shadows of the Past back in 2009, I can't count KKFOS, that area was block during that time but it'd be cool if it was part scarezone/food booth area or photo op but I can imagine the crazy cluster it'd bring haha.

Simpsons coming to the event in a little mini scarezone shouldn't be too harmless, a couple of looks the simpsons done in the show would be cool, some living dead historical figures from one of the early episodes, and stuff like that would be a nice touch honestly, the music from each respective treehouse of horror episode playing in the queue and in the area would sweet too.

I've seen sinners! I plan to rewatch though. I have a bad habit of multitasking (crafting lol) while watching movies, and I did that during Sinners REAL bad. Like, picked a frustratingly tricky project during that one. I wasn't super impressed with the movie, but I think my opinion would change if I properly paid attention lol so I do plan on rewatching.

It’s easy to do that during Sinners. The first hour is so slow. The first hint of vampires isn’t until almost a full hour in. I’ve said before and I’ll say again, it is extremely overrated as a movie. Has some good moments, but overall it is not AS GOOD as everyone thinks it is.

Are we still going with the Lagoon Show theme being "the best of Stranger Things" while the house would be based on Season 5?

Or did the speculation for the Lagoon Show theme change?

The rumor was always that a Stranger Things segment would be featured in a lagoon show, but somehow that has been widely misinterpreted as the lagoon show being fully themed to ST.

Yeah, what mccgavin said - my assumption is that we're getting back to a Marathon of Mayhem-style lagoon show again, and there will be a Stranger Things section.

As far as the Simpsons stuff, even some new Halloween daytime stuff would be really cool. I've always thought Springfield could really lend itself well to some general Halloween decorations/alternate costumes/etc.

Just give me this as the background music please:

I would appreciate some Treehouse of Horror representation in Springfield for the daytime operations. At the very least, I would love to hear some of the music from those episodes, but it would be great if they could work in some visual gags around the land.

It's not really hard I don't think either, I mean Home dressed as Death, Marge as a witch, Lisa with her devil horns and Bart either holding a Krusty Doll or with a Fly Head. Those would be cool costumes

I'm all for being subversive and going against the grain, but this is certainly a take... maybe even bait.
I'll bite.

Remmick shows up at 00:41:38; Which, for a 02:17:31 movie is one third of the way through.
That's right when the world-building and character introductions from all the main players comes to an end; Which is fantastic pacing to introduce the villain and move into the second act -almost down to the literal minute. So.... If you think that's BAD, i don't necessarily know what to tell you but the subtext is there.

Let's talk about the scope of reach and spectrum of the audience, i got two good examples there:
1. My Mom hates horror movies - would never step in a theater to watch one and hates that i go to see nearly all of them.
She saw Sinners because she heard the praise and saw the award nominations.
She loved it.
She even talks about it from time to time; Loves the soundtrack.

2. My girlfriend rarely gives a flip about going to horror nights; She even skips some years when she's otherwise uninterested in the properties being adapted, so i go with friends instead.
She asked about going this year (we are).
But she asked for a very specific reason... for Sinners.
Because Sinners is going to be there.

My point is: Sometimes we need a spotlight to be put on certain things. Sometimes we need to put stuff up on a pedestal to make it recognizable to other people who otherwise wouldn't have given it a second thought. In this case it was a pretty good horror flick that is also just a pretty great film on its own. Is it Jim Crow-era's From Dusk til Dawn? Yes, it is. That just means you can call it anywhere from relatively uninspired to grossly unoriginal. But over-rated? Nah. Not only did it align the zeitgeist of the industry but the audiences as well - which is no simple feat and not something that should be ignored or taken for granted. For Sinners to receive nearly unanimous, universal (gotcha) acclaim is a spectacle in itself and something that will be studied, if it isn't already. That should be all the evidence you need to show you that it's not over-rated by any means; It was just rated by everyone, not just horror junkies but your neighbors, your mothers, your friends, your co-workers, and your film critics. If nearly everyone stands up and gives a standing ovation and you're the only one sitting down...

We can talk about the cultural impact, the transcendental soundtrack, the amazing performances from everyone involved, and the masterful production of Coogler and his team, but that still puts this at just about the adoration it deserves with mild glazing from the upper-crust who usually looks down on horror as a genre. If something about Sinners winning Academy Awards and Golden Globes gives you the ick, just think about all the horror films and actors and directors and teams that have been snubbed over the years for accolades they absolutely should've been awarded and praise that went unnoticed by the industry that usually ignores it. It makes the rating feel more deserved in hindsight...
But that's just my opinion (man).

Great write up of Sinners and how big it is that this is going to be there. One Battle After Another was my favorite movie from last year, but Sinners was a close, close second. It drives me crazy when people say that the first act is slow, because I actually think the movie is better before any vampires show up in it. I just felt everything after the vampires really start attacking the juke got a little too close to From Dusk Til Dawn at points (that's just a nitpick, still loved it). Sinners is going to be a gigantic draw for so many people that would have never even considered going.

In any year that Stranger Things wasn't in the lineup, this would easily be the tentpole IP for the year. Just going back through the last 5 years, its arguable that, other than Stranger Things (and maybe FNAF and TLOU) this is the biggest IP they've ever had in terms of mass cultural significance. Lines are going to be longgggg this year.

It is kinda funny to me that in 2023 and 2026, they're pairing Stranger Things with another massive IP (TLOU and Sinners) rather than utilizing it as the sole headliner (2018/2019).

Aside from ST, TLOU and FNAF, I think people underestimate how massive of an IP The Weeknd was.

Totally forgot about the Weeknd! That honestly may be bigger than any of them.

It would be cool to see Doug Bradly involved in a Hellraiser house like they did with Brad Dourif for Chucky. Doug reprising his role has Pinhead for the games, so it would be cool to see some original voice over for a house.

Let's not forget Tobin Bell as well, it is good to see Doug Bradley back even if it was for the new video game, it would be really cool if he donned the Pinhead look one last time for the HHN commercial.
