Okay so, I’m planning on being there next April. However close cousin has been there the past week. To be clear it seems their week long vaca at UOR has overall been well. They did state how utterly disappointed they were with this ride. Seems 90 min ish wait, and they just found it boring. I’ve avoided the POV’s, and outright spoilers mostly, but this disappointed me and I feel I’ve seen many reviews that it’s boring. Not sure this portal is a must for me on this next trip as I’d rather (possibly) ride Monsters and Hiccups 50 times than dedicate time to this. Not being a downer, I’ve just not adjusted my expectations and plans personally.

While Forbidden Journey remains my favorite of the main three HP rides, I will stand by that I think this beats out Gringott's by a LONG shot.

No way I wait for 2 or 3 hours for any ride. I'm probably only going to do one day at Epic, instead of two, because the
line times are still ridiculous, except for Monsters. So I'll probably wait another year or two for Ministry, especially since it
surely doesn't seem worth that long of a wait....and even the 9:00 AM TP scheme is risky since it breaks down so often, especially
at opening. I'll spend my time riding Monsters a few times since the reviewers I respect the most seem to consider it a
better ride, plus Monster's very reasonable waits.

Why not just ride it and see what you personally think?? I’m not being combative - just curious. Maybe you’ll love it? If anything, the queue itself seems worth it. I mean even if you hate it, at least you can say you tried it.

the poor acting in Battle along with the crummy screen animation alone puts it behind Gringotts for me - and i think Gringotts is bad.

Hot take!
(also slightly changing the subject)

We totally lucked out with an end-of-day ride. It worked great! 15 minutes of out (gasp!) 30 minute wait were obviously due to breakdowns since the line did not move.

But those curvy hallways with those tiles fucked me up. I have never had claustrophobia but I could not stand those hallways.

Go check out Cirque! It's the best thing about the land by far. I enjoy it more than Untrainable which besides the major show moment was just okay imo. Besides that, you're not missing a ton by ignoring the rest of the portal haha.

Definitely try to ride Ministry. There is nothing else like it and it is hard to describe but riding ministry truly feels like I've entered an entirely different world, the screens are crystal clear and they look like I'm just looking at an extension of real life. It is the most immersive ride I've ever been on for sure and shows what is possible in this modern era of dark rides and it makes me very excited for the future. While monsters is my favorite ride at epic, in my opinion Ministry is objectively the best ride i've been on, I just really like monsters.

I'm legitimately really glad to hear that you enjoy Ministry so much. That's wonderful, truly! I don't mean any of this to demean your reaction and experiences.

But I also just do not understand this in the slightest, if I'm honest! :nervous: It's just Transformers again..? But like, poorly paced and with a worse motion profile!

At least with Monsters, the Forbidden Journey / Spider-Man evolution is obvious. Unchained takes scenes that were previously only possible through the use of 3D Glasses and screens and represents them in physical space with real moving figures and sets. It's really engaging and well-done!

To me, Ministry only hits that twice. Once with the admittedly great cabinet battle scene, and another time with the Erumpent; which itself just feels like the Kong animatronic at IoA! Hardly an evolution.

I really honestly hope I'm able to see it from your perspective at some point. I just can't see Ministry as anything but a weird and kinda stale trail mix of leftover Potter content. It's Universal handing me a fancy tray of food scraps, crusts, and crumbs that the other, far better Potter rides left behind and showing it off like the gourmet dinners we got with Hagrids, Cirque, Diagon, and Forbidden Journey. A poorly concieved dish from the beginning only made worse by its position as the main entree of a large, half-baked empty land.
