I mean its pretty well documented if you want good food you either go to citywalk or three broomsticks

Citywalk is never an option. I'm not leaving the park just to eat. I ONLY grabbed food from H&D because it was already 4pm & right next to Waterworld (which was at 430pm).

Mentally, Three Broomsticks is a sit down & relax type of dining. Not devour my food fast & furious so I can move onto the next thing.

Minions was just too far out of the way & I had forgotten about Nintendo Cafe (I'm so used to it being a defunct candy store)

I'd love to see it re-themed it to a Drifter's Cantina. Obviously it wouldn't be the same size/scale as Beijing, but the menus are extremely similar and I feel like it wouldn't be a huge lift to add some production design to the place.

Sure but can the food be improved

I never thought Disneyland food was that great but....compared to most of USH. I just wish they could take it up a notch for the prices your paying

I've never found the food at the Universal parks to be objectionable. Gourmet? No. But it's always decent, and sometimes legitimately good depending on where you are. Plus, if you take the food quality up a notch, you can expect the prices to follow suit, and probably at a rate that's still disproportionate. So I get what you're saying but the solution you're looking for isn't on this particular path.

So I wanted a fancy drink, didn't need to be alcoholic (would've been nice though), so I decided to give this 60th Anniversary offering a try. Worth it.
20240812_121923.jpg
"Cosmic Pop" - $11
(Sprite, blue curacao syrup, grenadine and sparkling cranberry juice topped with blue raspberry pop rocks. (Non-Alcoholic)

It was actually really good, it would've been better with less ice & included vodka. I'd consider this a "virgin Jurassic Water". They gave the pop rocks in a small cup to add them yourself.

***If I remember correctly, I also saw this offered at Mel's since I almost got it there when passing by

It's that time of year again- "Happy Lunar New Year" (as of yesterday officially).

I sadly realized we won't even get the half-assed overlay at H&D this year due to "WICKED", especially with the recent casting audition.

They could've easily pushed the "Year of the Snake" with Slytherin inspired food/merch!
RIP USH LNY! (at least give Hello Kitty her LNY dress)

It's truly a shame they're only barely acknowledging the holiday this year. Makes me miss the pre-pandemic event with Mr. Ping.

I think I'm more annoyed by the fact Mr Ping didn't become a permanent meet-n-greet in the park (along with his Noodle House.... yea I'm looking at you Power-Up Cafe)

I'm still lamenting the fact that we didn't even get the lame LNY overlay this year. Mr Ping deserves better lol

They aren’t scheduling cooks, most venues right now only got like 2-3 people working

That's what I figured. It's crazy too since they can afford to fully staff all dining locations.

I noticed this during HHN as well last year. H&D wouldn't open until 5pm on Wed/Thurs/Fri event nights, but would be open at like 11am on Sat/Sun. If i remember correctly, it'd be closed Mon/Tues (can't remember, that was rest/recovery in bed days haha)

Has anyone tried the newest current menu line-up?

I'm sorry to the TM's

Maybe....maybe next year USH will finally feel like trying an event or two and be able to get locals in and spending up. I see the Survey people at the front of the park everytime I go....is just no one telling them more to do would draw more people in?

C'mon, man. There's a little more going on here than them not doing seasonal events you specifically want.

There are things out of there control for sure but as someone who goes to many parks in CA. What I see is the number one thing bringing in people during the softer seasons? Events

DCA has been packed, I just went to Knotts and during the event it was packed on a normal weekend it had people but nothing like when the Peanuts celebration was happening. When I used to go to Sea World just like Knotts the days with events happening bring in the locals.

But beyond events here are ideas they could try as well

1) Cheaper tickets, especially on weekdays
2) Weekends bring out a DJ in the plaza and have later nights
3) Have a seasonal and daily dinning passes
4) When Water World is down have some show in the plaza to make up for the lack of entertainment
5) Bring out Rarer characters during the off season....Puss in Boots...Alex The Lion....Po the Panda

Your perspective is inherently limited, and I don't agree with your conclusion.

Maybe that unique roller coaster they are building? Or FFN? Parks always have slow seasons. I know you want these events to happen but the ROI obviously isn’t worth it for management. They have the actual numbers, they know the metrics, and have chosen to not stage these kind of events. Just because you’re convinced they will print money with these things doesn’t make that the case.

They also have budgets

So even if they see the potential of these events making money they might not be allowed to spend money to make it.

I doubt Knotts, Disneyland, Sea World and Lego Land would all run events every year in the slow period and not be making more then if they had nothing.

The coaster will bring people in for sure and really I am sad for it not to be out now because I'd love to see how it affects crowds but now its in summer and I feel like most the hype will be gone by then and crowd levels will remain about the same. Which is why you give them something else to do along with the coaster

Also Fan fest worked out but.....a new event would not? Grinchmas and HHN bring in the most amounts of people and are centered around....an event.

The coaster was clearly supposed to be open by now, but when a ride misses its target window, Universal can't just create a brand-new seasonal event in 60 days to fill the gap.

Budgets are set far in advance. Marketing calendars are planned a year or more out. Etc.

Major additions are meant to boost attendance for the year, not a season. They do not just pop up for two weeks and vanish. Harry Potter, Jurassic World, and Nintendo all lifted the floor in their calendar year.

As far as events in general, we've already had this convo ad nauseam. They already tried with LNY. If it had meaningfully driven attendance, it would still be on the calendar. We can't just start saying other parks do it, so Universal should too.

Either way, any event that they would create for Q1 would eat the budget and resources for FFN, Mega Movie Summer, and in some cases, HHN.
