Remember the plants that had in the queue originally? Did those even last a full month?

Everest is a tad different then HRRR as it has a huge Mountain, a small Movie and Disco Yeti. I mean for a normal Roller Coaster which is the area i put HRRR in.

Yeah, I get what you're saying. Cost based strictly on the Coaster itself. I'll see if I can find anything.

I know of very few "normal" coasters that have multiple wireless transmitters and receivers that receive audio and send video along with the multiple touchscreens and 9 CPUs per train.

Are you implying that the reason they are replacing the trains are to do with the audio/video system? If it has to do with the wheels or such I don't see what that has to do with anything.

Just pointing out that all of that technology is expensive. Similarly to a giant mountain. It is an expense over and above track and train.

Priorities. Disney has them. Universal, not so much.

--- edit ---

Oh crap, I don't want this to turn into 8 pages of Disney vs. Universal. I TAKE IT ALL BACK.

Too late! You've released the beast!!!!! :hulk:

haha jk. But I think the point is the Yeti is the problem with Everest not the trains. If the sound system was the problem, I think things could be somewhat comparable....somewhat.

Dave you're on fire with these posts today

Don't forget Pop Century: The Early Years...errr umm I mean Art of Animation Resort, but anyways :focus:

The problem with HRRR is not the sound system, but the programming, they have yet to get all 7 trains on the track at the same time like it was suppossed too. I honestly think the track is too short to handle it which is why it hasn't happenned.

I'm just going to pretend that you knew I was referring to your "technology/theming" analogy between HRRR and Expedition Everest. Because I find money spent on hiding ulgy, ugly support beams is better than money spent on adding a touch screen and some speakers.

But sure. ~CONDOS~!!! Completely the same.

Aaaaaaand we're movin' onnnn......

Hey, you were the one who mentioned Disney's priorities which is obviously condos. They only build rides to sell condos these days.

Once again I wanted to address this myth that there was ever a plan to run 7 trains at once. There was NEVER ANY intention to run 7 trains on HRRR. It is simply not possible as the coaster was specifically designed to run 5 trains. And they have been doing that since it's second month in operation. First of all Universal only owns 7 trains. The operational plan is 5 trains on the track, 1 train sitting ready in the garage, and 1 train in refurb. And you can simply look at the track layout and anyone who knows how multi train coaster work can count the block brakes and tell you the max # of trains posslible on the track at anytime. And for HRRR that is 5. There ALWAYS has to be a set of block breaks between moving trains. That means that you can have one train (1) in the station/lift hill, one (2) in the treble cleff, one (3) in the croud surfer, one (4) in the "Plot Twist" turnaround and one (5) between the last block brakes and the final break run into the station.

The 7 train thing was started by rabid fanbois who, armed with a number (7), whip up their own outrage simply because they HATE this coaster.

Thanks Dave for bringing the facts to light, :rep:. He is 100% correct. Back to the cost of the actual coaster. I'm sure if you stripped the bells and whistles off the thing (technology behind the audio, video etc) you'd have a fee for the hardware(track, trains) so to speak around the average steel coaster.

And I should mention that the reason that HRRR is getting new trains is the inverted loop. The amount of twist that the train goes through during the inverted loop is causing all sorts of problems with the trains. Some of you may remember that some CRAZY person claimed prior to its opening that the floorpans on the trans were cracking (oh, wait, that was me). Well they ARE. Also they have found that the twist factor is also putting strees on the wheels causing the neoprene tires to have really odd wear patterns causing the flat tire effect. They are now using a much harder neoprene, but makes for a slightly rougher ride.
Expect the new trains to look pretty much like what we have but designed to flex (twist) more.

Actually you can have 2 or 3 trains in the station at the same time, not just one at a time, while one is unloading to load, another is pulling in to unload, so 6 - 7 is definitely possible, but its a shame they don't to help with the capacity of the ride.

For all its faults, I love this ride. I prefer the Limp Bizkit track.
