Um. :bang:

Gerstlauer, *nor* Maurer, had anything to do with the concept of picking a song of filming on ride. Universal handled the technology behind it. Maurer simply provided a spot in their lap back to stick it.

Beyond the fact that filming on a coaster IS NOT NEW. For crying out loud, I don't know how many times that needs to be pointed out. The Flying freakin' Unicorn clone at Cedar Point HAS ON BOARD FILMING. Yikes.

Gerstlauer did not build Son of Beast.

Gerstlauer did manufacture the trains for Son of Beast. Ok, so Gerstlauer nor Maurer had the concepts for putting those technologies onto a moving coaster train, but I doubt that the Eurofighter train would look half as decent as the X Train. Ok, so filming is not new, but back to the previous sentence. When did Woodstock Express get onboard filming? I don't remember it the last time I was there, but then again that was a few years ago.

Oh Kevin, thanks for the update. Just that much closer to opening this baby.

Incorrect. Gerstlauer manufactored the trains for Hurricane - Catagory 5. Myrtle Beach Pavillion closed. Hurricane was demolished and sold for scrap. The trains were sold to Cedar Fair, who *put them on* Son of Beast. Gerstlauer had *nothing* to do with Son of Beast.

Premier designed and built the trains *for* Son of Beast. I'm sure Universal would *never* go with Premier for a coaster after Son of Beast's reputation! :bonk:

Companies build what parks spec. They really have very little say in the ride, what it does, or most especially how it's themed. Have you seem Mystery Mine? Full themed trains. Compare it to Spongebob Squarepants Rock Bottom Plunge. Those are standard Eurofighter trains. Furthermore, the X-car trains provided for Rockit are essentially *standard X-car trains* with LEDs and audio tacked onto them. There was *no* special look created for Rockit.

I do not know the exact year off hand, but it's had it for at least three or four years. Raptor also has it. As does Sierra Sidewinder at Knott's, as does Xcelerator at Knott's, as does, (insert Cedar Fair coaster name here). CF jumped all over the technology. Other parks are starting to jump on the bandwagon. Rockit's is more hightech than that in the delivery, but it is *not* a unique concept. Just a slightly upgraded one.

Oh Kevin, thanks for the update. Just that much closer to opening this baby.

We are no closer today to opening than we were in March or April or May. Trust me - there's not a person on this board that wants to ride it half as much as I do. *I want it to open* but that's just not in the cards right now. There's concern of even a HHN deadline.

The good news: Universal is taking the delays seriously and are NOT rushing anything. Plain and simple- I've said this a million times - Rockit will open when it opens. Do you think Universal wants a multi-million dollar attraction sitting in plain site that they can't put people on? But your options are rush it and open it and have it run into all sorts of technical problems soon after, or take your time and do it right the first time. Personally, I'm VERY happy to see that they've chosen the latter and will be doing it RIGHT. Sorry. It will open when it opens, and it's not happening right now. The fact that it's cycling consistently - in this case - is not an indication of anything.

If they were going to open it I would assume they would now want to wait until later because with Florida schools starting again in two weeks, thus taking out a nice size piece of the crowd, they would want to hold off until their next big event, HHN.

Have you been on Son of Beast? Did you feel like your spine had just collapsed afterwords? Everybody I was with that day felt that way. Worst wooden coaster ever.

Ok, so they bump up the theming on the Eurofighters for Mystery mine. They're still the short, stumpy, ugly trains. I'm saying that a probable reason for Universal picking Maurer was because of their X Cars. They just look futuristic.

Well I haven't been to Cedar Point (or any Cedar Fair park) since '04 so that probably explains it.

That's what I like to hear. I've been saying that all along. Why rush it? There's no clear reason.

The logic that they're holding off for some sort of milestone is flawed at best. The only thing they're waiting for is for this ride to be ready by their standards. When that happens, it will open - be if when school is in, for HHN, for Christmas season of 2027 - when they are ready. That's all there is to this one.

I said that Cedar Fair bought used trains that ran since 2000 on a different coaster and put them on an existing ride. Gerstlauer had *nothing* to do with that. They were commissioned to provide trains to Hurricane - a ride of *completely different layout* and more importantly, *completely different scale and forces.*

Have you been on Son of Beast? Did you feel like your spine had just collapsed afterwords? Everybody I was with that day felt that way. Worst wooden coaster ever.

I've been on over 730 different coasters. Of course the allure of the world's tallest and fastest anything drew me in opening year. I've returned to Kings Island several times since and have never again gotten on Son of Beast. It's absolutely awful; there's no disputing that fact. That's not even a matter of opinion in this case. The sad truth is it's not the roughest wood coaster I've ever been on (of course the asterix is that my last ride was 9 years ago when the ride was a *month* old. I can't even imagine how it runs nine years later.)

Word on the street is that Son of Beast is being removed after its latest legal issue. Yeah, latest - in that not surprisingly, it's had quite a few. It's been closed almost all season.

Ok, so they bump up the theming on the Eurofighters for Mystery mine. They're still the short, stumpy, ugly trains. I'm saying that a probable reason for Universal picking Maurer was because of their X Cars. They just look futuristic.

That shows a lack of understanding for how the industry works. *No one* signs a contract for a new ride because they like what the trains look like. The look of the trains comes later. Do you like the look of standard Vekoma trains? Because Battlestar Galactica has trains that look more like rocket ships than Space Mountain does. That all comes after the fact.

Well I haven't been to Cedar Point (or any Cedar Fair park) since '04 so that probably explains it.

As an aside, something distrubing that proved to be a consistent trend on my three week trip was that *every* Cedar Fair park I visited was *not as well run* as *every* Six Flags park I've visited. CF as a company has gone WAY down hill on quality, while SF, as much as it pains me to admit, has improved leaps and bounds. The fact that you haven't visited a CF park since 2004 isn't so much a bad thing these days!

That's what I like to hear. I've been saying that all along. Why rush it? There's no clear reason.

Again, have you LOOKED AT some onf the other forums out there? Holy cow. :bang::bang::bang:

Employees better get on tomorrow. I'll just get that much more pissed off with this coaster if they're not.

Remember when screamscape said that if you didn't pick a song you would get one off the setlist. My only thought about this now is that they would put on the Syd Vinyl song that they just released as the if nothing else song. Instead of having people get rap if they like rock just put on this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWrnIYowVgY&feature=channel_page
Edit: Well if this song is random or not Syd has made a petition to put this song on the Rockit.

Yes, that was the rumor. However we have learned that it looks like that is not the case and that they are still working on the issues.

Syd Vinyl has *nothing* to do with Rockit. Syd is the result of a *very* uninformed marketing department who had *no idea* that Rockit already had its own set of unique characters made for the ride.

Syd Vinyl is what happens when two departments have no communication with eachother at all.

You know - I really just HAVE to share this. Did anyone else see this post on IOA Central? Apparently *this* is what sparked the "OMGZ IT OPENS THURSDAY!@!@#@$$##@!!" rumors:

i know you heard it all before but it is 1:20 am and there is a lot going on around the tower they had the mini lift (crane) up for hours ,taking pics and now the mini lift is up in the area of where the banner would go, they have been testing 4 trains for the last 2 days non stop even in the storms it went on 1- train with water dummies and 3 trains with full led lights on , 1 with no lights on. an employee that was a manager at louis pizza at universa studios told me yesterday she was told when you see the coaster run with 3 or more trains non stop 2 days straight employees will ride the next day. I dont know her and what happens , happens just relaying what I heard and see.

I stand corrected. The ride WILL open tomorrow if the manager at LOUIS PIZZA said so! She's like, one above the Dippin' Dots guy!

Chris, the Dippin' Dots guy is always right so this has to be LEG1T! I mean he said that Horror Nights was going to have a giant tent over IOA and that the whole part was going to be a maze. We all saw how that one turned out....the answer is AWESOME! :bonk:

Jake, don't be an idiot. The Manager At Louis Pizza (official title) ranks *so far above* the Dippin' Dots guy. You're just jealous that you don't have such badass sources!

OH SNAP A BARISTA.

 The best I have to match up with that is the person at the host stand in the Bubba Gump restuarant told me that Disneyworld sued and won so now Harry Potter will be there instead, which is why the ride isn't open yet at IOA!
