Yeahhhhhhhh. So it'll probably be a mix of Art Deco and Spanish. Art Deco has Spanish motifs in it sometimes as well.

Also remember that when Shrek 4D does go someday...(wishful thinking), The New York theme area will be removed.  I think Cartooniversal will go at the same time.  Needless to say, it will be around for a little while longer.

Good point. I have a feeling they'll slightly shrink down the amount of retail on that side of the street so that Shrek's eventual replacement has more breathing room.

Take the footprint of Shrek 4D and Cartooniversal and you have a great dark ride location!!!

I think that will absolutely happen. When Shrek goes, it'll probably be that whole little block.

As you can see, the footprint of Shrek combined with Cartooniversal and a few surrounding trees is a pretty hefty chunk of land! A tiny bit less than Minion Mayhem, but still big, and can be bigger depending on how tall they build a new attraction in its place.

So when the time comes, I'd love to see them just demolish everything in that corner, and not just reuse the relatively small Shrek footprint. Cartooniversal can move into the FEATURED store, and considering the Studio Store is expanding, etc, it's not needed.

Food for thought: maybe the reason they are expanding the space is so they can be prepared when Cartooniversal leaves?

Pretty much what I mentioned a few posts up. It definitely makes sense. Expanding in one place to make up for the future removal of Cartooniversal.

Which, to be quite honest, will probably be MUCH sooner than we thought. Cartooniversal will be the only "cheesy" sign left in that section of the park and will seem out of place with all the new Art Deco and streamlined architecture and signs

On a side note, it's funny how you can see in that Google Maps snapshot where Main Way Universal used to lead past Curious George and Bruce to the Studio Tour. Kinda sad, as well.

Someone on Instagram posted this. They're certainly not wasting any time.

Holy poop indeed.....my mind is just absolutely blown. I have no words. Like....this is USH? This is still USH? It's all happening so fast and I absolutely love it. But it's all way too fast for my mind! USH has remained relatively the same visually since my first visit in 1996, and it's absolutely incredible seeing my second home basically transform in front of my eyes "into the future".

Props, Universal.

It looks like the main soundstage is still standing though. Do you think they'll demolish the main HoH soundstage as well?

Jeez. Kinda bummed I couldn't see this little chunk of the park one last time before it went for good. We should be seeing some interesting photos throughout the day, that's for sure.

I'm curious if they want the path just for now a little wider for grinchmas with the walls. It is curious and they do have to announce what it is pretty soon.

Would this be a Winter 2015 or early 2016 opening now...?
