Well, you are entitled to that opinion, but I 1000% disagree with that.

I disagree - I think the choice was to temporarily put up with less than ideal sightlines for a few years while the trees grow in, thus being able to spend that budget on adding more animatronic dragons around the land to make it feel fully alive. Temporary problem, permanent solution.

The alternative would be a short term fix and a long-term deficit in magic

Having not seen it in person yet, the photos of the building don’t look so bad to me.

Of course, I’m also a person who doesn’t mind the Guardians and Soarin’ buildings even though fans have been roundly kicking those for years. So what do I know?

Edit: Sorry wrong thread, mods please move to the appropriate one.

I did not even notice it in person. There is so much to look at here, I had to stop myself from not bumping into people while taking it all in on our way to the show.

HTTYD was easily my favorite land and yet the IP I care about the least in this park. I didn't get to meet Toothless though as that was running a 40 minute wait and for meet-and-greets, I tap out at... I don't know... 10.

But Hiccup's Wing Gliders was one of the biggest surprises for me. I wasn't expecting much but I also knew very little about it... and it's a really fun coaster. Since I've read up more on it, I see some people calling it Hagrid's-lite and I could see that comparison. Also reminds me of Slinky Dog Dash and Firechaser Express in Dollywood a bit.

Visually, this is definitely the best land in the park (and perhaps in all of the big Florida parks). The energy and vibe of this whole land really is just pure fun and smiles, between the adorable dragons you can find throughout to the fun viking interactions.

Wing Gliders is the biggest surprise of the park for me, I was expecting a pretty standard family coaster, walked off it as being almost tied with Unchained for my favorite ride. Surprisingly fast, absolutely adorable beginning with Toothless, really good airtime and genuine thrills, and a surprise rollback! Also, the alternating dialogue gives this some solid re-rideability (also may or may not have started tearing up when I first got this ending dialogue: "Me and Toothless will always be here to fly with you").

Untrainable is a stunning show, although shorter than I thought it'd be. Reminded me a lot of Finding Nemo at DAK, just a great show with solid energy and of course one of the biggest jaw-dropper moments in recent theme park history of Toothless flying around the theater. And most of all, good A/C!

Didn't get a chance to do Racers Rally or experience the playground, and we didn't really feel like walking around wet and miserable with how hot things were, so skipped Fyre Drill on both preview days.

Almost tied with Darkmoor for my favorite land (*almost only because I cannot ever put my bias for horror and the monsters aside I'm afraid!).

Just reading the description of Untrainable, last week I told our granddaughter, who we're taking next year, that it sounded a lot like the Finding Nemo show she saw at AK with us. That's a damn good show. Glad to hear you saying that it's similar in a way.

So there's a Flux capacitor easter egg in both Celestial Park (Stardust Racers) and Isle Of Berk... I wonder if there's one in Dark Universe and Ministry now. Hmmm

I mean, not to be that guy, but that's very clearly a bolas design next to net designs to illustrate how dragons could be captured; There's no other way to accurately illustrate how a bolas is designed or put together other than a ring with triangulated weights in ball form. And seeing as how bolas pre-date BttF by like hundreds of years, I think this one's a miss and people are just seeing what they want to see. Hidden mickey logic or not. There is literally no reason other than it being a Universal park that someone would illustrate a flux capacitor in Isle of Berk and even that LOOSE connection is a STRETCH at best.

Stardust Racers on the other hand, that's a legit easter egg - alluding to the fact that the flux capacitor is used to power the ride vehicles - THAT makes sense.

EDIT: It even comes up as this on the HtTyD wiki! lol

You can even see a drawing of the MANGLER schematic above the net drawings.

Yup. Rewatching the first HTTYD now and that exact drawing is in Hiccup’s workshop.

I've seen it in-person, and I honestly didn't even really notice the showbuilding sightline for Untrainable. The land has so much to look at and visually is the best-looking, and even if you are looking directly at Untrainable, genuinely I didn't even really notice the actual building until we got much closer to the actual entrance.

I think it's mostly a none-issue, and it especially won't be once the trees grow in more.

Good to hear. As an example: I never noticed the various Hogsmeade/FJ Hogwarts & Hagrid's sightline issues until I read about them on the IU forums. Really, I doubt the GP ever notices that stuff. I'm a pretty fervid theme park fan, and honestly, I never notice these issues that seem to bother some people so much. Heck, it's a theme park, not the real world. Immersion is nice but it doesn't have to be perfect. I'd rather the budget be spent on actual attractions than hiding everything. Even MK doesn't hide every back or side of a building from every vantage point....And, yes, give trees some time to grow.

Hiccup’s is the sleeper ride of the park imo. Never seen a movie from this series and still found the ride to be utterly delightful. Great visuals with how it interacts with the land, lots of little hills, and the launches are punchy enough for what they are. Demand for this seems low with preview crowds for whatever reason, but I really enjoyed it.

I love this land. It's kinetic but not too overwhelming like SNW. Characters are great and all of the smaller animatronics/dragon figures make it come alive. Wood carvings are amazing.

Attractions
Hiccup's is a fantastic ride. Toothless animatronic is great and the false launch is a fantastic idea. Queue needs work though. It's UOR's answer to Slinky Dog, but better.

Racer Rally... I think it's ok but unfortunately poor execution. Main issue is the ride capacity on this thing is terrible. And the ride experience is short. I honestly believe the budget/space for this area should have been utilized for a better queue for Hiccup's and a smaller flat ride like Dumbo/Twirl n Hurl for younger children.

Food & Beverage
The mac & cheese cone is expensive but great. It's not that much meat or mac & cheese, but the bread is filling. Yaknog is like a melted chocolate frosty with cinnamon? It's good.

Retail
It's obvious why HTTYD was chosen for this portal. There's far more interest for the IP than I expected and those gift shops are going to sell a ton of dragon eggs and viking gear for children.

Only criticism are some of the visible utilities/back of house areas & queue areas, but I won't go down that rabbit hole. Also, a lot of the queue ropes throughout both Hiccups and Racer Rally are already broken/damaged. I have to imagine they'll figure it out between now and open.

As far as merch goes, anyone see any signs of the rumored interactive adoptable dragons, or is that not happening (at least not yet lol)?

I'm also interested in whether there is any more movement on this rumor, as it stands Nintendo and Potter seem to be the only lands with interactive merch.
