All permanent structures (permanent mind you - not Holiday or festival or construction hiding stuff) are built to the EPCOT Code. It's higher than building codes pretty much anywhere.

All RCID buildings (any permanent) are built to withstand sustained winds of 110mph.

That said - the Track keeps shifting west and the one place is really really REALLY needs to not make landfall at full force is Tampa Bay.

Anywhere is bad. Tampa Bay from a topography standpoint is really really bad.

Yeah I can confirm that. When I did it in 2004 my weekly paychecks ended up around $1,500 for each of the storms and that was at the 2004 pay rates. You were getting paid double most of the time even when sleeping or just sitting around. I don't know if they made any changes to that though since then.

You'll get to see the storm doors close at Contemporary and the Monorails parked nose-to-nose inside.

No, they don't park them nose to nose any more (and haven't for MANY years). They will park one on each beam at the center of the building so they can close the doors. The other 10 will park in the monorail shop building and close the doors behind them.

The only certainty in hurricane predictions is that they will continuously change.

This was what I thought. I actually got to park a train nose to nose once, it was pretty exciting! What many don't realize is from the angle you sit in the cab you can't even see the nose of the other train at all you totally have to trust the judgement of someone directing you on the platform.

IF Orlando gets hit with Cat 1 (as projected) I could see some trees/branches down especially with the extra weight of the pumpkins at the central park zone. Hopefully, they take them down as a precaution overnight. The exterior facades for the tent mazes will probably be heavily damaged.

As for the park itself, there really isn't anything major to be worried about except loose signage

I think I recall they took all the scarezone stuff done with Hurricane Matthew last year, and I figured they would do the same with Irma. If memory serves me correctly they may have been broken down much of the AoV staging.

Yep, they stopped it some time ago. It's just not safe to bring them that close to one another. As it is there is a long history of noses getting damaged by the work tractors. That fiberglass just shatters...

I remember parking those things in the "roundhouse". You were supposed to touch the nose to a ball hanging above the beam. Of course you can't see the end of the beam from the nose. So i'd inch-by-inch and come as close as I could but never hit the damn ball out of fear of going to far. (Meanwhile this one ------ would just zoom and coast to a stop right at the ball. I hated him. LOL)

The one pissy thing about news casts is that after a storm, officials are repeatedly saying, "if you need help in an emergency", which is stupid when I remember that I was without power for 10 days.

They might as well be saying, "boy, you are up s$$t creek, cause you can't hear a thing I am saying...".

My wife and youngest were riding shrek, so I took my oldest to the Fallon Lobby.

She, of course, wants to play the video games at the booths while the ragtime band comes out. I wanted to watch them, so I make my way over.

I'm alone. It's just me in the room, all alone, with the ragtime band singing. I felt like a weirdo, but I didn't want to leave because it would seem mean. It was a good 3 minutes before someone else showed up.
