Ah, so it makes sense now. Multiple special skilled contractors contributing to the effort. What does Nassal know about carnival games and what does Space Racers know about high-end theming.

Is this one of those things thats a joke? I have a hard time telling whether or not there serious when they post stuff. I mean when I said wall down and Springfield opens Friday they said they heard Thursday and sure enough Friday. I say Kong and they say we said it first. But many times I say something and they come back were just joking so I'm not sure what to say to this? I mean that information is wrong on several levels. The games are coming first and are being done by Nassal with a helping "creative" hand. With a major expansion at Jurassic Park coming after the games open. Sound familiar? Yeah we just went through the same thing at Springfield remember? The games were actually labeled Phase 1 of the redevelopment and everything else from FFB to the Waterfront is labeled as Phase 2. Last but not least Nassal equipment has shown up in Jurassic Park, coincidence? Yeah no...

I'm wondering if he even looked at the amount of space there, before saying a new attraction. The space just isn't there. And if the theory was that the walkway and space across the street would be used then the first step would be to convert the TM walkway from the Discovery Center Landing to Toon Lagoon into a bypass route.

Are you sure the JP games are being done by Nassal and not Bob's Space Racers (who made the Simpsons games)?

BSR is doing the physical games themselves. Nassal is doing the surrounding themeing.

It's said that each time a new section is closed, but it doesn't address if the previous section re-opened.

I know they use that system of closing off sections to replace the netting annually.

Here's hoping it's just routine maintenance as Nitro notes, rather than an actual shutting down of the higher netting areas (ala the dumbing down of Me Ship, the Olive some years ago). Those high-up areas were some of the most peaceful, adventurous areas in the park. Loved just relaxing there in the mid-afternoon or at dusk.

I'll be crushed if they get rid of Camp Jurassic. One of the finest playgrounds ever devised.

Although I'm okay with them getting rid of Pteranodon Flyers, if there's truly no way to address its capacity issues.

I doubt Camp Jurassic is leaving. It's brilliant, and it's pretty popular.

I have no doubt that Camp Jurassic is staying, but I wouldn't it past Uni to dumb down some of the playground's higher fixtures given their precedent to do so with with The Olive.

I never actually noticed that they changed Me Ship, the Olive; does anyone know what exactly was done to "dumb it down"?

I've been away from this thread for a few months now! Can anyone update me on where this project stands now? Last time I was here I remember rumors of a wooden coaster and new dark ride.

Nothing to update as I've been asked to remain quiet and am on a timeline of when I can share new "rumors" about the project. The new game area is well underway though with Holmes doing the layouts and physical buildings, Nassal doing the the theming, and another company, Seth Kubersky is familiar with, that's doing the game installation. Once the games are closer to completion I'll be able to share something else...

Most (if not all?) of the first & second floor crawl spaces, which had motion activated sound effects, were closed off. Of particular note was a cargo net structure that was directly over the animated shark fins you pass by on the Bilge Rat Barges... literally it was open air below the cargo net, water was below you. The cargo was heavily reinforced, but my guess is legal took a gander, imagined some kid dropping his or her expensive phone through a hole and into the water, and closed it on the spot. :(

Agreed on the former. I've spent many storms inside those caves staying dry.

On the latter, they could tear sections down and reopen the original way it was supposed to be with it cycling the entire island.

It was fun as a kid, but as an adult I'm glad they locked it down. The shark fin idea especially was a terrible idea.

Trust me if Creative or WDI didn't have to cut effects and adventures back around every turn due to lawsuits by the bottom 15% of the general population we would have SO MUCH MORE to see and do. If it was a world full of people that have a sense of humor, contribute to society, and try to make a difference things would be so much better in general. But alas in our day and time the idiots who contribute nothing, are waiting for a handout, and get everything for free are the main reason we can't have anything nice and so many unique theme park aspects are canceled or taken from us. Even in Springfield things were taken because of those same worthless idiots.

Can I ask what things were cancelled? Hopefully nothing too spectacular?!
