I'm sorry, but I think that is the dumbest thing I've seen since that LMA Lightning McQueen video

Me and my friend laughed out loud when we saw a trailer for Real Steel.

The Lost World and JP3 are similar in that they have good stuff inside a mediocre shell.

The idea and reveal of Site B doesn't work. After all that explanation in JP1 about creating the DIYY-NOO DNA and the park, Hammond never mentions A WHOLE 'NOTHER ISLAND FULL OF DINOSAURS.

The heroes in Lost World are kinda shady too. They're supposed to be the eco-friendly PROTECT THE ANIMALS good guys, but not once, but TWICE they mess with baby dinosaurs (the stegosaurus and the T-rex) with disastrous results. Unlocking the caged dinos at the bad guy camp (where one assumes the rampage probably killed a couple of people and knocks out any communication to contact rescue) also seems like a questionable move.

The cast is also problematic. Goldblum's Ian Malcolm works best at the sidelines, commenting on the action. He doesn't have the rugged everyman quality of Sam Neill's Alan Grant. Everyone else you may recognize (Vince Vaughn, Julianne Moore, etc.) but don't add anything exciting. Only Pete Postlethwaite as the big game hunter is having fun, which makes him so memorable.

I like things in Lost World. The action pieces work incredibly well, the SFX hold up, and the San Diego T-rex thing at the end is really stupid but I still enjoy it.

That's because no one was ever supposed to know they did all their breeding there. It was part of the theme park illusion. Jurassic Park is a theme park.

Sarah was only observing the stego. Whatever it was ( I don't remember) that beeped was the culprit that caused the herd to stampede. And they were only healing a t rex that was sure to die from its injury. AND this last part only proves that they are the good guys. They released the caged dinos that were to be genetically cloned by the rival company.

The Lost World had its faults, and was not a good followup to the original, but it was a good movie. Let's hope JP4 is better.

If breeding takes place on Site B, why do they even have eggs that they're incubating and monitoring on the main island? It's still an awkward reveal since Hammond never talks about the second island to Alan Grant and co. (who are supposed to be approving the park for legal reasons and even have a lawyer, Gennaro, accompanying them). They're not tourists, they're being told how the entire park operates so it can be approved and opened. Another island of dinosaurs might be important to mention.

The purpose for Malcolm and co. to be there was to only document the dinosaurs. Getting that close to the baby steg is a pretty stupid move, and interfering with the baby T-rex results in disaster (they're almost pushed off the cliff and Eddie Carr gets eaten).

The book explained it, Nublar's egg center was just for show, all the real work was done on Sorna. Only a few out of hundreds of eggs created healthy animals, and those healthy eggs were sent to Nublar to be put on display for tourists (as Manta said, Jurassic Park is a theme park). Almost no real genetic work was actually done on Nublar.

Really the little things like this made JP2 not as good as it could have been. If it was a combination of the film and book, it would have been much more amazing.

The first rationality: You gotta point

The 2nd: Not so much. Firstly, everyone save for Malcolm have never seen a dino, so they obviously are mystified by the sight of seeing something that is supposed to be extinct. They are also scientists, so they're likely to to try and do everything they can, without putting the dino in danger, to document and study them.

I think only Malcolm and Julianne Moore's character are scientists. Vince Vaughn's a photographer and Richard Schiff's the tech guy.

I think the overall problem I have with the eco-guilt over preserving the dinosaurs is that they're NOT true animals. They were created in labs using bits and parts of different DNA. They're monsters, true scientific creations that aren't part of the natural order. With that in mind, it's hard to get emotionally invested in what the big bad company will do to the "poor" creatures.

Without a doubt the second book is better than the movie. But that doesn't make the movie work. I think it's because they didn't know the effect the first film was going to have on the public. They didn't know they had to set up details for a sequel.

Decade. Only one. not plural. Plus, George Lucas won't be involved, meaning it'll automatically be significantly better

Yes, yes it was. As one of the biggest Indiana Jones fans ever, that movie was trash.

Is anyone else frustrated by Spielberg's comments at Comic-Con? Do we really need a fourth Jurassic Park film? What is there left to be said for this franchise? Where is there else to go?

As bad as Indy 4 was, when you have a consistent, iconic character like Indiana Jones, embodied by someone like Harrison Ford, it's easy to come up with new ideas (well, for anyone but Lucas and Spielberg apparently). How many times can you trap a collection of generic characters on an island and have dinosaurs eat them?

Instead of rehashing this stuff, maybe Spielberg can stop making sappy crap like War Horse and try to tap back into the imaginitive, original sci-fi fare that made him a household name.

IMO I am hoping for a film that has nothing to do with the first three. A total reboot of the franchise. But in reality I could see this being a prequel showing how the dinosaurs came to be leading into the first and only great film in the franchise.

Ehhh... it was stupid I admit, but I found it medicore at best, or in other words... I just like to think of it more as an unintentional comedy.

More news from the man himself.

"I haven't been active in the last year because I've been so busy obviously on 'War Horse,' 'Tintin' and now I'm currently shooting 'Lincoln,' but right now, it's on the schedule to bring out another 'Jurassic Park.'"

Unfortunately, when we attempted to find out if it will continue on from the last movie or reboot and start from scratch, he couldn't tell us. "It's just another boring secret," he chuckled.

So yeah, sorry to say that we don't have much to add, although if Spielberg has it on his radar, that's certainly a good sign that maybe we'll see it sometime in the next few years? Fingers crossed!
