I guess i'm just concerned that it's based on an iteration of an IP that's of exceptionally dubious quality...

Like if the ET ride was based off the video game.

It doesn't matter what iteration it's based on. All the 98th percentile person needs to know is that there's a new King Kong ride and they are in. It's a fun character everyone knows, regardless if they have seen any King Kong movie.

The steel protrusions from the ride entrance are the exact designs from the 2005 film. The new skull island film was to be in sync with this attractions opening. The comic con promo for the new film used footage from the 2005 film. Should the new film get off the ground, I feel confident PJ will be an executive producer.

So, if you found the 2005 film dubious, then the attraction will be dubious in your eyes.

Cars is a movie of "dubious quality" and Cars Land turned out pretty well.

Kongfrontation was based on the 1976 Kong.

This times 100.

BTW, still laying pipes/wire, no track down yet, or so I hear. Catwalks are up, which indicate scenery should be fairly tall.

There's no floor.. so obviously there's no track. They're still digging around to lay utilities and such. Last I saw there were about halfway done with the rear wall paneling. The front was put up first to keep ya'll from taking photos and the other sides pretty much havent been touched.

And the building isn't that tall. If you consider where the floor roughly will be when they stop digging then the height of the catwalks they're not particularly tall rooms. Some of the cross beams make for very small portals between rooms. (Assuming the path follows the catwalks and the catwalks go through above the beam and the ride would obviously be beneath it).

I think Kong will exceed your expectations from what has been said around here and elsewhere...Have no fear

And King Kong is in literature (search King Kong book on Amazon) as well as pop culture plus it is a Universal movie...all three boxes are checked..In my opinion Kong makes most sense for an addition...

Plus if you want to add the fact that it takes place on an island

But it doesn't take place across the sidewalk from Jurassic Park. That's the troubling part. There doesn't seem to be an attempt to really differentiate it from Jurassic Park. Hogsmeade built a gateway, Diagon has the London waterfront.. Kong is right up against and behind JP.

I expect the areas to be rebranded to be honest to merge them together..Skull Island/Jurassic World or something like that..Kind of like Krustyland and Springfield are...

There will have to be a skull island entrance, the removal of the JP gates proves that alone. It'll just be a mini island, wonder what the surrounding theming will be like though, it'll have to differ from the normal JP jungle setting for it to stand out.

Islands has no coherent theming, the ride will be sexy, it'll fit in and it'll be great...no biggie

I'm one of the biggest theming nerds there is, but in this case I respectfully say: Who gives a ****.

I'm all for reasonable theming arguments. But when it comes down to adding a kick-ass ride with some forgivable theming issues VS. staring at an empty expansion plot... I'll take the former. :)

I don't think Transformers nor Simpsons were nearly as successful as they should have been considering the costs.

Simpson's is a rethemed 1989 E Ticket. Transformers is a home run by just about anyone's standards.
