One only has to look at how dated some of Disney's AA-heavy dark rides can become... then look at how Spidey has held up since 1999. Screens aren't some evil monster out to destroy AAs as we know them... but rather work together for a seamless, fast-paced ride experience.

Plus this ride seems to be 2/3 AAs/sets, 1/3 screens (mainly the Kong 360 part)

Well to be fair they did have to update Spidey..but I agree with you..Personally I'm pro screen and AA hybrid (FJ) it gives you everything you could want in a dark ride

Both will give you the best ride experience honestly. As said on the podcast, there are some things you can and can't do on screens. You can't have a immersive experience with screens alone and you can't have insanely reliable AAs alone. I embrace them both together and you all should too. I'm starting the AASRC that's the

I meant that if they do add another JP attraction, I hope it's entirely based on the new movie. I think it would be a waste to do something from the first film, such as the DNA guy/lab tour idea I've heard people throw around. Or something out of the blue like an "amber mine" ride. No, make it based on the upcoming movie!

This is all related to Kong because it started by talking about how Kong fits in the JP area!

For JP, turn the Discovery Center into the dark ride (exhibits can be the queue) and base the coaster off the new aquatic Dino from JW. It could be a family suspended coaster with rock work, a waterfall, caves, and a small flyover of the lagoon (to the right of Discovery Center to prevent ruining the sight line)


I do agree that Kong is better than Helicoptours or any of the JP E ticket ideas.

I don't think KidZone can close until November because people have to walk through it for the Parade building and one of the tent houses during HHN. Then the holidays will be really busy. I'd honestly peg the closure closer to January.

No, just a tentative guess based on what Universal's done in the last couple years (announcement for new ride/area a couple months before opening, info dropped by insiders on here, etc) but I could probably use a wall like that ) Plus I see the KidZone revamp/replacement being in phases only because USF can't really afford to have 6 of its kid-friendly attractions all closed for 1.5-2 yrs.

Kong is the big question - is it a summer addition or a fall addition? Because either could work. Summer would be prime territory for premiering a world class attraction while Fall would give that corner of the park something that doesn't get you wet. I could see July since it would give them a little over a year to finish... it's achievable when you consider Diagon Alley really got started in the fall of 2012 - less than two years for the main construction. Prep work looks to be close to finished for Kong so construction could start by the end of the month.

I'd rather wait for November/December if it means the ride isn't rushed and gets the treatment it deserves.

A lot of the insiders have hinted that KidZone is going down after Labor Day. And really, E.T. is the only major ride in KidZone at the moment and both play areas are heavily water based. Barney is an average show while Animal Actors would easily remain open since it's on the outside area. E.T. could easily stay open until January while the rest except Animal Actors goes down until March. You could also rework guest paths and construction walls to allow access to HHN tents during prep work/groundbreaking.

I'd rather have him sooner than later! :kingkong: Something new every summer for at least one of the parks just feels right :doggie: Universal Orlando is so spoiled, and you could say Hollywood is to a smaller degree (much better facade for DM over there, Super Silly Fun Land, BTTF potentially being a part of the nighttime studio tour, Fast and Furious getting a 360 segment on the tour, Great Hall for Potter)

Kinda wondering if USF will get anything next year (Disaster replacement and Gardens of Allah museum are the only things I see coming)

We'll have construction photos and speculation over at KidZone to keep us busy with USF for sure next year.

I see kong over disaster, disaster seems like it'll be safe for now. Don't expect a revamp too soon especially since we haven't really gotten any hints on its closure. I'm also curious about how much kidzone construction could we actually see, might be a diagon kind of deal where you can barely see anything because of the work walls. Also if ET isn't getting knocked down with the rest of kidzone then I don't see it getting knocked down at all

E.T. and Animal Actors would probably be closed from say... January to March for some upgrades/refurbs along with a replacement for KidZone Pizza. But the rest could be visible to some degree... from E.T. you should be able to get peeks at what's over the walls.

Kong and KidZone will be the perfect 2-3 punch to Diagon's 1
