Jim Hill laughs about that in numerous podcasts and says it's one of the things that cracks him up on Universal when he'll ask one of his contacts about a huge new obvious project that's under construction and the response will be--completely seriously--"I don't have any idea what you're talking about. What new construction project?"

Geeez, and he calls that a "contact"? I would have a cow if some of the birds that I know pulled that crap with me. I prefer the, "I can't talk about that just yet... :)".

Disney's like Microsoft, they announce things early, including things that never happen.
Universal is like Apple, they'll announce it when final and work has started.

=====edit=====

Anyone heard anything about the track yet? We have an idea of the ride system, wondering how the track will work, would it be flat, raised, how would they hide any outdoor parts? I'm excited to see how this will play out.

It seems they are building a heavy duty catwalk right into the construction of the building. It seems odd to me that they are building it with the structure throughout the entire building it looks like. What reason could this be? Are these egress points for a suspended part of the ride?

I stated the catwalk a week ago. Today, I was tossed a bone, but as it is not one of my birdies, I cannot say a word. It can be known that I encouraged those with such info to yap up the obvious facts that appear imminent. Until then.

Well, "contact" is my wording, not his. He's more referring to when he talks to the PR folks at Universal who play absolutely dumb on everything--even the obvious. I'm sure he has plenty of contacts with their fair share of insight. I'm not trying to turn this into a Jim Hill bash...I get a kick out of listening to him, despite his iffy track record on Universal rumors. I can only WISH I had contacts like the insiders on here have!

Saw the kongstruction yesterday, amazing how this thing is going.

Teebin, you once were wondering if there will be a second floor, do you still think that is the case? When I saw the building yesterday, it does look to me like there are heavier steel beams there which could suggest a second floor.

I still feel it is a very rugged building, yes. That said, Gringott's used the very same rounded cross beams and doesn't have a second level. I will let everyone know that I was kind of shocked and impressed that it is as elaborate (after Diagon I figured they would be all tuckered out) as it is. On a par with JPRA I would surmise.

The catwalk at Spider-Man generally follows the ride path. Of course, the catwalk isn't connected to the ride system -- it's mainly there to access show lighting and electrical.

It is indeed curious that it's being built into the structure of the building. Maybe once the RV enters the show building, it attaches to the cieling-mounted scissor lift for when Kong picks up the jeep. Hey, it's the speculation thread -- I'm allowed to speculate. ;)

If it's anything like Gringotts, the catwalks and heavy-duty upper levels are most likely for many many projectors needed to pull off 180 degrees of screens. Plus access to lighting, sound, fog effects, etc. of course.

I'm not thinking it's two stories though. Only reason Transformers is was to accommodate the tiny available space in Hollywood when the ride was originally conceived. They have more than enough space here to play with, and I doubt we're going to ever see anything like the Tranformers elevator system in another ride again.

If I were at IOA right now, I would be standing here walking left and then right staring at these bushes thinking, "hmmm".

I can't see why. It's a huge space saver considering the limited amount of real estate on property and it works seamlessly on Transformers. You really cannot tell.

I heard a rumor the kong ship and a couple themed rocks will be added to the lagoon. Don't know how true that is but it would help kong stand out

I hope that they have a banana milkshake stand or other banana inspired drinks and/or food items. Chiquita would make a great sponsor!

This sounds like one from the Churro stand guy, who does not know the Kong site is not near the lagoon.
