I have a sad confession to make: for the first time in my 31 years of life and living in Southern California....I've never actually visited the Las Vegas strip. Like, I've driven past it a couple of times, but I never actually got to visit the Las Vegas strip. Well now I have finally righted that wrong. I got to spend a full three days there. Stayed at Excalibur. Of course I had to visit the Manhattan Express, Adventuredome, the Stratosphere, and Fly Over Vegas. I'll give my thoughts on them.

So the Manhattan Express....my first-ever Togo credit. I was honestly kinda dreading this coaster. I've heard all of the horror stories on how awful it was. I've heard some people go as far as to say that it's the worst coaster in America. I know that fairly recently the replaced the old trains with the new Premier ones so maybe that will help smoothen the ride. I rode it and shockingly it....was just fine. I sat in the center-ish car(?). While there were a couple of spots that were a little rough, it was nowhere near as bad as what people hyped it up to be. In fact, I thought it was really fun! I guess those new trains did wonders because, while it isn't perfect by any means, nor will it make anyone's top 10 lists, I had a good ride on it. I'll probably go on it again next time I go, but $25 plus the $1 to put your crap in a locker is a little steep. Next time though.

Adventuredome. Calling this place a piece of crap is putting it lightly $60 to be able to go on the poorly-maintained rides...Canyon Blaster is a freaking awful torture device, the El Loco was kinda rough, and the rest of the rides are just your standard flats you can find at any park in America. Well, at least they still have the Chaos, right? WRONG. They got rid of it. The only ride I actually enjoyed was their new Endeavor. That was a lot of fun! I really hope Knott's or SFMM seriously considers adding one because it's a great flat. Knott's could especially use it as it felt like a successor to Tampico Tumbler. Castle Park could really use one. But bring that ride to SoCal because it's great. The rest of Adventuredome should be gutted and start over from scratch.

Oh, I gotta talk about the Spongebob ride. Eh, it's fine. The 3D would've been nice, but wasn't necessary at all. The gameplay was a little unresponsive. I would clearly hit the target sometimes and it wouldn't register. Like, c'mon. The finale seemed kinda half-baked and "meh". It needed a motion base. Unless I go with someone who really wants to ride it, I'll pass on it.

Stratosphere was cool! I spent a good three hours up there not just to get my money's worth, but I waited around for the wind to die down so I could ride the Big Shot. Insanity looks like it's down for good, as any mention of it has been completely scrubbed. It's just sitting there, abandoned. I did get to go on X-Scream and then Big Shot (After waiting an hour and a half lol). X-Scream was fun but, intimidating. It was legitimately the first ride I was actually a little hesitant to go on. I decided to bite the bullet and go-all in by going on the front row. Man that was....thrilling. Lol. Big Shot was probably my favorite. Shooting up on top of the Strata with that incredible view was quite a rush! Had a good time on the Strata. I did not do the Sky Jump because that I'm not that insane.

Finally, I did Fly Over Vegas. Fun, but way overpriced. It was $40 for the full experience. If the screen resolution was crisper, I would say it's an improvement on Disney's Soarin'. The "4D" effects were a lot more realistic where they spray mist with the wind when you go over a waterfall, the motion is a lot more fluid, and it's a little longer! I had fun, but probably wouldn't pay that much to do it again.

Oh, and I got to experience the Zipline on Freemont Street. At first it was intimidating, but once the ride got going, it was quite the rush! You literally felt like you were flying like Superman.

But yeah, that's my Vegas experience. Didn't get the chance to experience Area 51. I'll do that next year when Universal opens Horror Unleashed....which I saw them building BTW! They're making progress! I enjoyed it! I think Vegas overall is a little overhyped, but the hotels were cool and I had a good time on the attractions there. Oh, and I highly, highly recommend the Wicked Spoon. That is an excellent buffet. It's $50, but it's worth it. Chinese pork is incredible. I stayed at Excalibur as it's one of the cheaper hotels on the strip. They have a decent brunch buffet as well.

I’m actually in Vegas right now, haha.

Didn’t hear that Adventuredome got an Endeavor! It’s a great ride. But as you sure you’re not talking about the Nebulaz? And yeah, they removed the Chaos maybe a 8-ish months ago.

Also heard that Insanity at Strat is definitely gone. I believe it’s because they can no longer get parts for it, as it was a custom creation. I’m sure others here could confirm if that’s true.

I also love Wicked Spoon, but am not thrilled it’s only brunch now, and closes by 4pm with no dinner service.

I actually did the Sphere… and while it is expensive, I did come away impressed. It’s a two hour experience, where the first hour is touring exhibits (similar to Epcot’s old Communicore—don’t miss the audio display, which have two versions) as well as food and drink, and the 2nd hour is the movie. While I felt the opening and ending of the film were a bit overlong, the main portions are an impressive view of world culture and nature seen as never before. And there are some surprises… it’d be better if you go in blind.

I don't know for sure, but I believe the tower ride has been gone for a number of years.

Here's a video from three months ago (not mine), which mostly focuses on the abandoned log ride, but also gives you overall views of the current state of the casino.

After visiting this place I decided to relax and gamble on the site and I have to say it's pretty darn cool!

It's a shame that such a great place isn't being developed properly

Desperado status. Not looking good. All signage has been removed, and game machines are blocking the entrance.

In other news, the casino did have signs of life. While I wouldn't call it crowded, it was not the ghost town it usually has been lately.

Obligatory Buffalo Bill’s check in. In the good news, casino is still looking relatively well maintained, and there were a fair number of people about. Bonnie and Clyde exhibit is now on display here. Monorail completely closed off.

The bad news: Desperado entrance is blocked off by vending machines, seems empty, and all signage has been removed. Log flume is dry as a bone.

That's just depressing, gives me the fear they might just leave it abandoned...

So I’ll have other Vegas reports later but I do want to pass on what I’ve heard

I went to Goodsprings a neighboring town of the Primm and they said Terrible’s the hotel has been bought by Amazon and will become a fulfillment center

No idea what this means for Primm but hopefully BB’s stays around

Man, I have a lot childhood memories of the place, and knowing its days could be numbered sounds just as depressing even if the writing may have been on the wall.

EDIT: Wait, after looking on Google maps again, were you referring to Terrible's as in what used to be gold strike? Cause that place took the Terrible's name before it shuttered, and at one point in the past, the Primm Valley resort was called Terrible's before being changed back. So I think I got confused there, since I never went inside Gold Strike back then

Side note, but I wonder if the mall attached to the Primm/Terrible's hotel has also been a ghost town as well.

I've heard the only store now open in the Primm outlet is a place called SaniThrift. That, and a whole bunch of murals (which they do look cool, at least from the outside). The Primm Valley Resort also looked like it wasn't open at all, there were no cars anywhere near it or in the parking garage. But Buffalo Bill's did have a decent of people in there, and the parking lot appear full as we left Saturday afternoon.

On an additional note, here's a small thread I did about the new Swingers indoor mini-golf/bar/lounge, which has only been open about 8 days in Mandalay Bay. It's new, but seemed really popular! Was pretty busy the whole time we were there.

Did Swingers at Mandalay Bay! Just opened about a week ago, and it’s a 21+ indoor mini golf/bar.

There's also a Disney Immersive experience at Crystals Shopping Mall (next to Aria), which alternates with the Van Gogh experience.

Husband found a Disney immersive experience, by the same people that did the Van Gogh. Starts with a small exhibit, then an hour long movie of clips. Felt like a cross between Art of Animation Studio, Philharmagic, and a bit of World of Color.

Sorry for double post, but it's been over a month since my last one, and many updates.

First off, this isn't new, but I had never done the Flyover attraction before. I was hesitant to pay a lot of money for something that was basically Soarin. However, I have to admit, I came away very, very impressed! There's a lot of quality and care here... and there are a variety of films you can experience. I did one of the originals (American West--which included Calico!) and the newer Chicago. American West was good, but suffered the same not very impressive transitions that Soarin Over the World has. Still a lot of beautiful scenery.

In terms of mechanics, it works like Voletarium at Europa Park... the hand rails you see in the pic lower, and the seats move forward. There's no "lift off" like you get at Soarin. But the trade off is you get a much bigger range of motion while on the ride, so it feels more intense.

But for my money, the winner was Chicago. While I know it obviously wasn't, it gave the appearance of being all done in one shot... I have no idea where the transitions were. And the greater range of movement (forwards, backward, facing up or down, and circling around objects) really breathed life into this like Soarin doesn't. In Chicago, there's even a moment where you fly into a building! I was shocked how much I was impressed by it, and enjoyed it.

Also did a lot of the attractions at Area 15, see my Bluesky for reviews of Wink World, Museum Fiasco, and Lift Off. Separately, I visited the Ethel M Chocolate factory for their holiday light display (as I have done in years past), and was a bit sad to find it wasn't free anymore... it's now $3. Still very cheap, and they added some entertainment (there was a caroloing show on a formal stage with seats), but was still disappointed to see the fee. But I do get why, and that's a pretty good bargain.

One big surprise is that at Stateline, despite looking abandoned, Primm Valley was open as a casino! Didn't appear that the hotel part was open, though. I didn't go into Whiskey Pete's, but I did see people going in and out of it... but then just the next day, Vital Vegas announced they are going to fully close Pete's.

I had to look it up, but my god, that's saddening to find out that it's closing. It makes me worried the Primm Resort's days might be numbered, and Desperado along with it. :(

On the one hand had it not of been for the fact that I can’t drive for the live of me, I wish I could’ve seen what Primm was like when Desperado and the log flume were open.

On the other hand, the satellite nature kind of betrays them from existing at the scope that they are at, especially without any form of a IP to act as a hook.

The fact that it is in Timbuktu aside, I do wish this area had something more prominent of success that’d be modern and unique.

When I was there, Buffalow Bill's was doing relatively well. It had a fairly decent crowd and full parking lot. I don't think they're going to close that one anytime soon. That said, they also don't seem terribly interested in bringing the rides back. See my post from about a month ago, and the entire station for Desperado does not look like they have any plans to reopen it any time soon.

Primm Valley, however, looked totally abandoned from the outside. I'm really shocked they're going to keep that one open.

Is the SpongeBob Ride still operating at Circus? I can’t seem to find info about it anywhere on the Adventuredome page.

It is, but it's technically a part of the Circus Circus hotel proper, not the Adventuredome. It requires a separate paid ticket to go on each time you ride.
