A new walk through attraction called "The Legend of Jack Sparrow" will be coming to DHS this summer, replacing the old Narnia exhibit. Here is an excerpt from the Mickey Monitor:

Opening this summer at Disney’s Hollywood Studios®, The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow has elicited something of a legend of its own. The word around the Parks is that this mysterious new attraction will be a first-of-its-kind sensory experience in which Guests will have the chance to be enveloped by the world of the Pirates of the Caribbean® as seen in the four feature films. Sounds intriguing. To find out more, we had a chance for a friendly “parley” with Jason Roberts, Walt Disney Imagineering Project Manager and Show Producer for the new attraction. “This is going to be an immersive experience,” Jason told us. “We’ll really delve into the story of Captain Jack Sparrow and put our Guests in the middle of it all in new and exciting ways. “Story is always the most important thing for us at Walt Disney Imagineering,” Jason continued.

“But we’re always looking at new ways to tell the story that our Guests have never seen before. In this attraction, we’ll let you walk in the footsteps of Jack Sparrow. “It’s not ‘the making
of’, not ‘behind the scenes’…it is really a firstperson experience.” Jason wouldn’t divulge any of the state-of-the-art special effect trickery used in the attraction, but he did assure us that the attraction is certain to elicit a “Wow! How’d they do that?” from our Guests. A long-time fan of the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction and films, Jason was delighted at his
shot to work on the attraction. “We worked with the archives as well as the filmmakers while they were shooting the last movie,” Jason said. “And as a fan, I just loved sitting through those films again and again, going through all the details and leveraging them for this new experience. It’s really been a blast.”

They lost my vote with “It’s not ‘the making of’, not ‘behind the scenes’…”

While I think this attraction has befuddling placement, DHS needs to move away from the "making of" attractions. The place isn't a working studio anymore. No need to pretend otherwise.

"Immersive", "State-of-the-Art"....Why do I have a bad feeling about this? I'm definitely going to check it out, but I have the feeling that this new experience will not be as amazing as they are hyping it up to be (but GOD do I hope I'm proven wrong on this one). For now, fingers crossed.

It's still just a walkthrough. I dunno how state of the art it can be.

I understand, but I wasn't talking about what the studios needs, I was talking about what I like. "One Man's Dream" is probably my favorite attraction at the park.

I love OMD. I never miss it when I'm at the park.

One Man's Dream is a can't miss for me as well. It's about time they got rid of Narnia. As to PoTC sensory experience, I can't pass judgement till I see it. I'm a huge fan of the movies so this may be fun, although the history of that space tells me otherwise.

The problem was the properties that were used. The first Narnia, if I remember correctly, was pretty decent for what it was.

Well it is opening in the summer so I can't imagine too much changing inside, new sets and stuff I guess...perhaps a walk-through like The Forsaken at HHN last year, only less gory and scary and with Captain Jack?

I'm all for the change. But it's puzzling as to why they waited so long.

Just because it was announced today doesn't mean they've been working on it for the past few months.

I don't think the narnia ones sucked that bad. The lion, witch and the wardrobe had a neat seat and the actress playing the white witch was a neat effect. I also liked the Prince Caspian set as well. It was interesting and pretty well done. Was it amazing? probably not, but undoubtly cool for a park that needs more attractions.
