I don’t think much Disney fans are really clamoring for old rides to return (except for Splash Mountain, but those for… other reasons). And what‘s wrong with it replacing Springfield, not like it’s going to stay too soon?

To be fair, if F&F + San Fran really is being rethemed to Hill Valley, I don't think an Amity return is too much of a blue sky stretch.

The only reason I'm against Disney or Universal building another park, is that I don't want them to neglect their current parks. But in a perfect world, we'd have a new park and new attractions/lands at the existing parks.

Strongly agree. Unfortunately, the other parks go in budget hell mode when a new park is constructed/opened.

Agree 100%. It really seems like Universal has already been testing response to the classics with the merch/experiences they’be been putting out over the last few years. There’s frequently questions about the classics like BTTF and Jaws in surveys. We had the classic movies parade and other similar experiences. They are always churning out merch for the classics like Jaws and BTTF. Especially given that the rumors of BTTF is returning seems to be legitimate and holding weight, why is it so crazy to think Jaws could return? I’d also argue that the same stuff Universal did years ago bringing more monster merch and reintroducing them via HHN was the same method before they brought us Darkmoor in Epic. One could argue it’s just satiating nostalgia and isn’t leading up to anything more permanent but I don’t think we can discredit it as not leading up to something more either.

I'm still not going to believe the resurgence of USF's classic IPs as new attractions until I see it...

... but I'd love to see it. JAWS and BACK TO THE FUTURE, as films, are too important to the legacy of the entire company to not have significant representation in the theme parks.

  1. This is Blue Sky.
  2. Instead of posting unnecessary negative comments, why don't you offer a counter blue-sky design/attraction?

I gotta agree. This is a thread called "Let's *play* being head of Universal Creative." Emphasis on play, as in not bound to reality. The entire purpose of this thread is to go Blue Sky, logic and what's "realistic" need not apply. I don't get the negativity.

Good to know I’m not the only one uncomfortable with that “terminal Disney brain” post, that was rude and uncalled for considering what type of thread this is.

This is very early. But why not... 4th Dry Gate speculation.

Universal's Kingdom of Legends Theme Park (I suck at naming things)

1762360865848.png

This assumes the cancellation of Six Flags' DC licensing agreement and that LOTR is being left off as the anchor for a 4th dry gate.

Mythica
The park's entrance land, mostly indoors and in perpetual twilight. Leans into Ancient Greek mythology (more than Epic Universe) and far more obvious. Inside you will find your typical gift shops, guest services and Starbucks. Once outside, you are welcomed by a large mountain landscape emulating Santorini. A table service restaurant is located at the bottom, along with a (gasp!) original dark ride. This would be Universal's Pirates of the Caribbean.

Could also make this a newer version of The Lost Continent. Heck, if Mythos is gone at IOA... that could be the name of the table service restaurant.

DC Universe
Built at a similar scale to Ministry of Magic, split into two locales - Metropolis and Gotham City. A Superman dark ride (similar to Spider-Man) is hosted here. Batman gets a dark ride in Gotham City with an inverted Kuka-arm attraction. The Joker gets a Mack Extreme Spinner coaster with multiple launches - this park's Stardust Racers. The land is explorable and detailed just as Ministry is.

Middle Earth
Similar to DC Universe, split into two different sections - Hobbiton & Rivendell. Both are beautiful, but Rivendell will rival Disney's Pandora in natural beauty. Hobbiton is home to a Na'vi River-esque dark ride, while Rivendell is home to a major E-ticket dark ride.

Kung Fu Panda - Land of Awesomeness
A carbon copy of Beijing's land.

Bikini Bottom - Home of SpongeBob Squarepants
SpongeBob finally gets a proper theme park land and dark ride. Also home to a Krusty Krab.

This is a very ambitious/wild Blue Sky. If Wicked ends up taking the large expansion pad at Epic Universe, this leaves LOTR as the headliner for a 4th gate.

I'm sure at one point, Comcast saw legacy IPs as dead and to prioritize new experiences based on the latest box office hits. However, Epic Universe has proven that they don't necessarily need to rely on recent relevancy to base a popular attraction or land on.

I've asked this before, but I feel like no one has been able to provide a clean look. So... in the chart below I split properties between Universal and 3rd Party IPs, and where they rank in the utilization of Universal Parks (focused on UOR below). Top row are currently utilized in a significant matter, bottom row are not utilized. In the middle are either properties that were utilized in some form previously or are utilized in a fairly small matter (SpongeBob store).

Outside of Wicked, they really have no other options but to go 3rd party if they don't want to invest back into their legacy IPs of Jaws/BTTF. Not saying that's what happening, but strategically they've already mentioned how they'd like to focus on their own IPs as a "pipeline" for growth.

*Let me know of any significant IPs not mentioned that could work in a theme park setting. I'm working on a separate one for HHN as well. Obviously, Disney-owned IPs are excluded.

At the moment, Epic Universe doesn't sell the standard merchandise offerings that the other two parks have (Jurassic Park, Minions, etc.) so a Universal Store at the south campus can offer that without intruding into existing park retail space.

The hotel I'd like to see be a proper Greek theme. With it being by the water, it could be a nice Mykonos-esque resort. I'd love to see Universal go back to the moderate-level resorts.

This made me think:

I'm curious if we could ever see a significant addition to the parks involving Stranger Things. The show is ending soon, but at least imo, I don't think the popularity of it would die down at any point soon.

I even made a post in here years ago with an idea of converting Springfield to Hawkins, lol

Would Five Nights at Freddy's technically fall under the left side of this chart? Universal does not own the IP outright, but the films are a partnership between Universal, Blumhouse, and Scott Cawthon. I also wouldn't be surprised if the franchise eventually has a more permanent presence at the park if the second film does well, and it continues to be successful at HHN.

With Netflix having done pop-up "Stranger Things: The Experience" all over the world (now in Abu Dhabi) as an hour or so long walkthrough attraction and now with "The Netflix House" locations coming to Philly(One Piece and Wednesday), Dallas (Squid Games and Stranger Things), and Vegas (not announced yet) i want to say it's unlikely, but you never know!

I'm not saying i WANT E.T. to go BUT...
If it ever did, i'd love to see the ride system remain and turn the ride into Stranger Things. Keep the bikes. Keep the forest. Keep the old school charm. Instead of the Green Planet, we go to the upside down? Would this be the easiest ride swap ever? Possibly. Would it piss off Steven Spielberg? Absolutely.
Animal Actors becomes a Hawkins Lab walkthrough attraction?
Kidzone Pizza becomes Surfer Boy Pizza?
Gimme a Fort Byers photo op with a Demogorgon and i'm sold.

I'm not sure if Stranger Things will have staying power years after the show has ended. Also, I cannot get behind any plan that involves replacing E.T. Adventure...
