Not sure if this is reliable at all but Magic is saying that staff have been told to vacate the offices at Animation Courtyard, which points to Mupperts potentially being safe.

Dragonflier at Dollywood is the newest Vekoma Family Inverted I've ridden, and I really love that coaster. I don't think we'll see anywhere near the level of intensity as that one, but the comfortability and smoothness of these new Vekoma's is really wonderful, especially when compared to how rickety and bumpy every older Family Invert model is. There's a reason why Legoland FL got rid of Flight School. :dizzy:

I think an argument that I haven't seen is this - Disney should likely want to make additions rather than replacements, because that's exactly what Universal is doing down the road with EU.

Disney shouldn't want to have multiple large areas of the parks shut down for several years while Uni is opening a shiny brand new theme park down the road.

I think something to keep in mind is that Magic Kingdom currently hosts nearly as many annual visitors as both dry Universal parks combined. That’s not an argument for the objective goodness of the Disney parks, of course, but it does speak to how much ground Universal has to make up before it’s seriously challenging Disney.

I agree, on principle. But, typically, operations will come to WDI and say “here are places where our capacity is underutilized,” and ask them to try to add interest and capacity back into those areas. That’s how we got Splash Mountain at Disneyland, to begin with. Why Winnie the Pooh replaced Jamboree over here. It’s the reason ROA is going down at the MK, Guardians replaced Energy Adventure and the list goes on and on and on.

It’s unfortunate, sometimes, but that’s the way things flow, as well.

It’s unfortunate what should be a slam dunk announcement could potentially be set up to fail with the drama surrounding it. So much of what’s been rumored for it sounds great. Let’s just hope they make the right choice. As for when, we’ll just have to wait and see. I don’t think anyone knows anything right now. For the record I think it’ll be animation courtyard but it could go either way

I think it's worthwhile to point out, we're losing attractions no matter what here. There's no room for proper "expansion" at DHS. It's gonna replace something. We just have a lot less investment in TLM, Disney Junior, and Launch Bay than we do Muppet-Vision. I'm not saying it's wrong to feel that way, but it's good to remind that the park will be losing capacity for a time, no matter what happens. That alone is not an argument in favor of keeping Muppets.

I agree if they remove Disney Jr then that shuts down capacity. I would say the capacity of Muppets is insane though and I don't think anything that replaces it will give the same capacity, just be more popular.

Dragonflier is 39" and has one small drop, I would hope we have at least the same intensity of that. While I agree I love that coaster, it is a kid/family coaster with a low height limit. I would think this will be more around 42" or 44" and be WAY longer. But 100% agree it is SUPER smooth and a great coaster for what it is.

Of all the announcements this is the only one that would be a replacement that matters. The other ones barely anyone rides them or they are already closed.

Yeah but it's a shorts theater, I doubt it's drawing them in. Keep the fun post-show area for the kids.

You got two good connected meet and greet spaces on the left too to utilize for Jr.

According to rumblings over on WDWMagic, an announcement on where the Monsters Inc land is going will be announced soon. It will be done either by a slow roll out with individual posts updated throughout a week, or one big update/announcement at once.

At D23 Brazil they reiterated that Monstropolis will start construction next year, and once again they did not say where it's going.

In ways, that feels incredibly telling. I know it's not a confirmation of anything, but it feels like they know the crowd wouldn't mind if they announced this is going in launch bay/animation courtyard...but they would absolutely mind if this is replacing Muppetvision, and they don't wanna' deal with the in-person backlash.

But the odd silver lining is this, for some folks it felt like they were supposed to announce where it's going today. If that's true, why the cold feet? Didn't want to deal with the in-person backlash, or ultimately a change of plans in location to avoid said backlash completely?

Ultimately, if this really is replacing Muppetvision...Disney has to rip the band-aid off sometime. And the longer they wait, the worse it's gonna' feel.

Is it cold feet, or were people wrong to say it would be announced this weekend?

There was strong rumors they'd announce it at D23 Brazil.

I am just the messenger, but as worded by Len Testa: “I'd heard this was the venue to announce the Muppets closure and a new Muppets project.”
This was also hinted at by martinsvids and Steve from wdwmagic
I’m guessing cold feet.

Len has also mentioned there's another part to the rumor which he's heard, however he's not going to say what it is as the moment, as that is possibly a "canary in a coal mine" scenario to discover leaks.

Is it that Muppets is getting presence elsewhere to make up for it, and not the HoP replacement either.
