Okay, but why is the attraction called "The Frankenstein Experiment" when Victoria explicitly calls it "The Dracula Experiment?"

My guess for what its worth is that she is Victoria Frankenstein and it's her experiment. She might be calling it the Dracula Experiment because she feels she is in charge of him and not the other way around.

Yea. That had me questioning the unnecessary extended title for the ride. "Monsters Unchained" would've been fine, but Universal likes their unnecessary long titles (*looks at Potter*)

The Frankenstein Experiment is the totality of her efforts.

We're just visiting during the specific Dracula Experiment part of it.

also makes it clear for the 90% of guests that don't know an attraction's lore before visiting, that this is "something like the Frankenstein film where an evil scientist wants to control/create a living creature..."

I was mostly being facetious, but yeah, I suspect this is the internal justification. I do wonder if The Dracula Experiment was at some point the name of the attraction, though.

Don't you put that out into the (Dark) Universe! The park doesn't open for another month, they've got time to alter it to that :eyes:o_O:skull:

Only got to ride it twice for my second preview as Unchained was down most of the day, not coming fully back up until about 3:30-4pm. However, there were indeed a few tweaks from my Thursday rides, all of them positive:

  • Overall, the lighting was a lot better and darker than Thursday. Zero light bleed and the underfloor for the RVs was no longer much noticeable.

  • The Dracula escape scene is definitely going to have restraints projection mapped onto him, as I noticed now around the ring they've turned on what's meant to be the power beams for the restraints, which one-by-one turned red before he fully breaks free from his restrained position.

  • Unfortunately, it does seem it was just bad camera lighting for the unthemed curtain wall right after Drac escapes, which is still VERY noticeable, and you're kept staring at it for a solid 3-4 seconds before looking upward and transitioning into the Brides escaping.

  • Gillboy we definitely got MUCH closer to than we did on Thursday, where on the very first ride I didn't even notice him until we started swerving away, but this time he was in full view (and I believe had more lighting on him which helped).

  • The lunging Wolfman animatronic also came quite closer. Still not as close as dementors, but definitely a good bit more than he was before.

  • VERY pleased to inform that regarding the 2nd unthemed wall before the final sequence begins, they have fixed this issue! The RV movement has been articulated to where instead of awkwardly looking at it for 2 seconds before being turned up to look at the sunbeams activating, now immediately after the Mummy scene ends, your vehicle stays looking up for the screens.

  • The flying Dracula animatronic does need some more work. His movement looks rather awkward and nowhere near as visceral as it was in the animatronic reveal video. Although of course, this is definitely just a side effect of still being in previews.

This isn’t directed towards you, but at the general idea that they wouldn’t be adjusting as they go…

Did we/do we really believe that UC wouldn’t be adjusting as they go? Are we that fraught with worry or simply running out of things to worry about? They’ve spent billions of dollars on this park. They’re not going to let a few curtains or ride vehicle maneuvers get in the way of an amazing theme park.

And honestly..neither should we. Just something for us to chew on while we wait for curtains and dimmers.

I'm not worried (it is a theme park) but I also don't have much confidence that a big ole corporation investing a lot of money in something means they gave it the care it deserves.

Agree wholeheartedly, just like they swore the Japan indoor minecart madness scene with the beams on the roof was gonna be here as well. Looks perfect at epic.

Just to make sure I am not (100%) crazy. Victoria is an animatronic with face mapping. At first upon entering the scene I thought she was a hologram (ala Rey from Galaxy's Edge). But she is definitely an animatronic. It's just her face that seems a little too uncanny valley.

Trust me when I say it looks MUCH better in-person. I was worried too when I first heard it was a mapped face, but you genuinely can't tell when you're actually there.

Oh I saw her in person so to speak. But my eyes were like saucers trying to take everything in. And when you do that you end up seeing less. Once I get past the awestruck phase I will be able to focus on the details.

I'm sorry for how much I'm rambling on about this ride, but I really need to talk about the voice acting in here some more, because it really is fantastic. Every character sounds perfect and the voice actors nailed the line deliveries, some of my favorites:

  • Ygor. Nothing more to say, all of Ygor's lines are perfect.

  • Victoria throughout the entire experience has a very firm and commanding voice, but in the 2nd pre-show when she brings out the Monster and he calls us friends, her tone changes for a moment, being much gentler and much more genuine-sounding as she tells us there's nothing to be afraid of. She has some very questionable methods and morals, but she does care for at least the Monster it seems.

  • The line delivery on "Dracula, under MY control!".

  • When Dracula first escapes, he shouts out "MY TURN!" followed by an evil laugh, and it's a damn good one. You can tell from that line delivery alone how long he has been patiently waiting for this moment, and how much carnage, chaos and bloodshed he's ready to unleash.

  • Imhotep when his coffin opens, and you hear "Who's the true monster? The one in chains, or the one who put him there?", followed by Victoria's "DON'T LISTEN TO HIM!". Firstly, you can hear a sense of somberness in Imhotep's voice, like he has been put through some horrific experiments at Victoria's hands, and the only other time Victoria's facade of a firm scientist in control breaks, as you can hear the desperation in her voice and fear of not being looked upon in a good light by us.

  • "Do you fear the dark, my friends?", by Dracula and followed by the Monster shouting "FRIENDS!!!", before saving us from one of the brides. It's a fantastic parallel moment, Dracula calling us his friends in a very menacing manner, before laughing as he believes he's won and we're about to be killed by one of the brides, and immediately followed by the Monster also shouting friends, yet it's a shout of genuine fear and concern for us, likely the only people besides Victoria that have ever shown him a sign of care, and he wants us to be free.

Sorry to double-post, but I think besides the unthemed wall, these are the main things in the ride itself that need to be addressed (as always, would like to clarify that I do fully believe these will be ironed out by the time of opening, but I'd still like to point them out):
  • As talked about a lot- the lighting, but also as I said before, yesterday it was MUCH better. Still could be just a little bit more darker in some scenes though.

  • The audio needs to be either turned up or clarified in a lot of scenes. Particularly I think Dracula's laughs (both of which were getting drowned out by air blasts), and the Wolfman's howls should be louder. Imhotep's dialogue should also be made a bit clearer, as even after 8 rides, I needed a friend to tell me what he's saying.

  • And this kinda fits in with the lighting issue of, there's quite a few animatronics where you can pretty clearly see the mechanisms controlling them: The first Drac, the flying Bride and crossbow Victoria, Gillboy and the first Bride that gets killed by the sunbeam. The first Drac and Gillboy's weren't as noticeable with the darker lighting, but the others it was still pretty visible. Probably an easy fix of making things just a tad bit darker.
