The Disney-owned Marvel movie brand was conspicuously absent from plans to rehabilitate Hollywood Studios. Although Disney bought Marvel in 2009 for $4 billion, the Florida theme park rights to Marvel characters like Spider-Man, the Hulk and Captain America continue to be held by Universal under a long-term contract.

Asked in an interview in July if Universal would ever sell those rights, Thomas L. Williams, Universal’s theme park chairman, answered with one word: “No.”

I think it's a crock. Regurgitating a rumor that just isn't true.

...if anything happens in the near future, it will be small scale like temporary Meet & Greets, movie previews, etc. for MCU films in Disney Parks. I have heard rumblings of presenting the MCU/Marvel Studios Films as a separate licensed property from Marvel Comics, which is how it is in merchandise licensing (ever notice how there's never been park-exclusive merch based on any Marvel films?).

Attractions? No way. Not until it's contested in court that MCU/Marvel Studios is a wholly separate entity from Marvel Comics.

Man, I literally LOLed when I got to the end of the post and he said, "This would be a win-win for everyone!"

Yes, Universal giving up a lucrative licensing deal is totally a "win" for them.

After reading Lance's piece, I was like, "so what does Universal get?" Just the X-Men and they lose the Avengers. Seems fair.

Yes, because Universal would want to give up the most popular Marvel characters at the moment to their competition with absolutely nothing in return. This is so fake.

I just read it... Man, if he and his source want to sound like they even know what they are talking about, they should at least brush up on the contents of the original contract. There are so many things stated concerning it that are blatantly false. It still to this day boggles my mind how much misinformation that gets passed around concerning Universal/Marvel in the face of hard facts that many seem to want to ignore (not directed at anyone here).

I mean if Universal gets to keep the Great Lakes Avengers it would be well worth it.

Eh, Disney would just buy DC and "generously" allow Uni to use the IP. Problem solved

I'd be willing to take that deal to get it away from Warner Brothers and Zach Snyder.

If you're to believe Jim Hill, if Universal lose Marvel, MSHI is to become the wizard of Oz with the Hulk becoming the Wicked coaster.

If it turns out that a deal has been made for GOTG to go into TOT for Universal to be able to update Marvel to the MCU, id be perfectly happy with that.

I'd rather Universal fight tooth and nail for everything in the MCU and then relinquish the rights to the Fantastic 4 and the X-Men franchises.

I still don't believe GotG taking over ToT, however I still think a deal like that is still very much realistic. It is a win/win for both parties.
