That's a pretty small piece of land, but, I guess it can (and will) be done. Is the parking lot going to be on the same lot, or will they just shuttle people from the parking garage to the water park? It would allow more space for the actual water park.

It should be a good size waterpark with that land because it does seem like they are going to shuttle from the existing parking.

Who would want to go to wet and wild once this park is built?

I once read that after a certain date (quite a while back) before Universal bought a lot of land behind the convention center, they started to bolt the additional waterslides to the ground so they could easily be unbolted and transported.
I guess many of the amazing slides Wet and Wild have can be reused for the new water park and be rethemed in whatever Universal want it to be without to much extra costs.

IN that former lot they can build a huge convention hotel that is complementary to Idrive and the convention center and also is a short ride from the Universal Orlando resort. Green walkways besides the bridge over the I4 can make it an easy walk and busses can do the rest.

Noticed a couple of bulldozers and various pieces of equipment showing up on this proposed plot of land when I was staying at Cabana Bay recently.

South of Cabana Bay. There's a small plot of land still empty and just (barely) big enough for the new water park.

The land isn't that small, I "accidentally" drove onto the site the other day, soon got ushered off LOL. Further more they have several gates at the south end of CBBR that lead to nowhere, for now.

Like hate said they are working the land, I have seen several pieces of large machinery over the course of the last few days.

Many of those pieces of machinery have been there for a few weeks now. I've driven by at least once every week the past three weeks and have seen them just sitting there. My initial thought was that they were being brought in to construct Sapphire Falls. Maybe I'm wrong.

Drove by on my way out today, I'm pretty sure I saw a couple of trailers (construction offices) set up and it looked like there were around three or four cranes (lowered) parked on the site.

I've never been to any of the Disney water parks, but I think UOR could really do an amazing job here and make somthing that would destroy BB and TL in terms of themeing. Lets hope they don't take too much from wet and wild, and make some really original rides.

Shuttles to the parking lot kinda sucks though. Think of all those wet seats...yuck.

One big point on the water park. There's going to be a heck of a lot of hotel rooms within a fairly short walk of the water park, (Royal Pacific, Sapphire Falls, Cabana Bay, almost 4000 rooms)) and another 1,500+ rooms (Hard Rock, Portofino) a water taxi & short walk away. The bus rides from the garage or hotels won't be much longer in time than a parking lot shuttle ride.

Yep. Universal (and Comcast) has this so well thought out that it would make our heads snap.

How can you say the theming would be so much better than BB or TL when you've never amen the time to go.
The theming in the Disney waterparks is dam good and is light years infront if any other local waterpark. Would be pretty hard to blow it out of the water

I think the theming will be top notch at the water parks if it's anything like pretty much everything they've done lately. I think theming is one of the things we need to worry about least.

I'm most worried about the parking situation. I feel like sharing the garage between the parks and water park could be a bit much at times. Is it possible we see them expand upwards on the garage to help add more parking spaces?

Ehh I don't think it would be that hard. They just gotta find a good overall theme or go the land option. Also I have a feeling spongebob will have a very strong presence in the park....

Do you not pay attention to what others have said? Nick and Uni aren't in agreement much these days, so having a Nick IP probably is not going to happen. I would think they would use DM long before they would use an IP they have to pay for.

I still think there is a strong possibility esoecially with nick execs accidentally releasing spongebob will have a themed land in Florida in the future. See the kidzone thread for more details

From what I heard a few months back, this park is going to be an original design with it's own convoluted story. Of course, things can change but I have been lead to believe that this is doubtful.

So like Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach then. Both have pretty crazy back stories. Typhoon Lagoon's even ties into the Meriwether Pleasure story that encompassed Pleasure Island since they both opened on the same day. That back story actually went as far as to include the Grand Floridian into it as well.

Thanks for the confirmation. I know this has been brought up a billion times and I don't want to delve too deep in it but I do think cabana bay would make for a great tie in
