Well let's think OUTSIDE the box.... like crazy time! What if the Water Park was on the exterior of CityWalk... where the lattice is now... you had slides and pools going down the backside of CW.

New Kid’s Play Area Coming to Wet ‘n Wild

Park Rumors is reporting that Wet 'n Wild has filed a new permit to change...
their kids play area, likely for the 2012 summer season. From the plans, it looks as if Wet ‘n Wild will be demolishing all of their current kids play area, keeping only the outline of the main pool, its sand castle theming, and two slides, per this note: “Sand castle to remain. Protect and maintain pool walls, steps and slides.” They’ll then be adding at least seven new slides, all connected by a series of bridges and platforms.

They also mention that since Uni is associated with Wet 'n Wild, it is a possibility that these plans could be another topic of discussion at the upcoming Centennial celebration.

Also, does this make the notion of a "on-site" waterpark for UO less likely since they're adding to the Wet 'n Wild site?

All I want is a new water park that hides the supports. And, preferably, it would have a nice, thick rainforest theme of some sorts. There's enough tropical themed water parks out there; give me some ancient ruins to explore!

Ehh it doesn't really mean anything as the slides themselves can be easily moved just like every other new attraction they have added since 2005-6ish once the rumor first began.

I have a bad feeling about this new waterpark. Call it intuition.

What could have possibly given you a bad feeling? We know next to nothing about it.

Except that trademarked name: Wondersea Island

We don't even know if that's the actual name they'll use though.

But they did buy the extension on the trademake this past November... so it has to have some value to UO

A name is a name. And if they stick with Wondersea Island it sounds like it could have a fantasy type theme, which would be pretty awesome. Just... anything but a tropical theme... please...

I agree. I want something different than Typhoon Lagoon and Aquatica... but I also do not want it to have the burning concrete feeling that Blizzard Beach has.

Aquatica also has foot burning concrete (I can't remember if it was that bad at Wet n Wild). I wish they'd come up with a solution to this. With all the technology there is today, I wish they'd come up with a type of flooring material that doesn't heat up so much...

All they need to do is just keep sprayers on the sidewalks or have shade trees or canvas by wire above.

They have. It's just much more expensive and harder to maintain than concrete.

Can anyone come up with some fake concept art for this. How would you envision a Universal Water Park called Wondersea Island?

Per Orlando Sentinel, the new water play area at Wet 'n Wild will be called Blastaway Beach.

There are plenty of coatings that can be used to resist the heating up that concrete does during the hot months. It would be considerably less expensive than a new flooring material, but it would require the park, or at least large chunks of it, to be closed and dry, since pretty much all floor coating failures are a result of moisture seeping up and pushing the coating off of the substrate. And yes, Wet N Wild also has some pretty nasty foot burning concrete.

Aquasocks or River Sandals are a must for FLs waterparks during the hot months.

In my entire life I've never been to a single one, I'm going to Discovery Cove at the end of next month for my bday, so that will literally be my first introduction into a Orlando waterpark of sorts.

I'm hoping the new area is open by then, but I at least have the Grand Reef to enjoy.
