It would be cool if they extended the lagoon/transport boat channel to be able to bring people to Wondersea by boat...

The beach visual effects to create color changing sand, the multidirectional wave pool with the huge volcano just sounds like an awesome water park!!!

How about a family raft ride themed to this?

Not what we were talking about.

FWIW, that plot of land is listed as 31.5 acres on the property appraiser site. According to land guru maxairmike, there would be about 20 acres of useable land there. For reference, Aquatica takes up about 22 acres

Aquatica is 58 acres. In comparison Wet N Wild sits on about a 30 acre plot of land.

I don't think building this here makes any sense. It'd be the smallest Waterpark in central Florida.

You can make a great water park in that space. One of my faves, Dollywood's Splash Country, is about 20 acres too.

I JUST visited Splash Country! Nice Waterpark. It's actually just over 35 acres.

(You guys don't know your Waterpark acreage facts!)

No, Aquatica + its parking lot + the large retention pond on its property + all other area = 58 acres. The park itself is only 22 acres.

That's because all the quoted acreages include parking lots and surrounding land. You're quoting the size of the entire plot of land it sits on.

If we were quoting the entire plot of land for this park, it would be 31.5 acres.

LOVE Splash Country. But I've read conflicting reports about the acreage, possibly because of the inflated numbers from the parks themselves (including parking lots, surrounding areas, etc).

Edit: Skip beat me to it.

Water parks, by definition are half day parks. Even the big ones like Typhoon and Blizzard are only about 24 acres

Typhoon Lagoon is 61 acres, Blizzard Beach 66. You need at least 40-50 acres for a decent sized themed Waterpark. 20 acres is garbage size.

Its not that i wasnt paying attention. its that i replied to those previous messages before reading the entirety of this thread. i go on vacation and get way behind in reading!

Anyway,Looking at satellite images, Blizzard and Typhoon are clearly about half the size of the Magic Kingdom. Is MK 107 acres? Or is it 107 acres including surrounding infrastructure? IOA is supposedly 110 acres...and also looking at satellite images makes it look almost the same size as MK.

So are all these parks liars and including parking lots and whatnot in their acreage count?

I feel I may just have to really dig on this one to get a completely accurate truth.

Using some fun little tool I just found for calculating area. My entirely unscientific clicky method included area that I don't think should necessarily be counted, but did not count parking lot at all.
http://www.daftlogic.com/projects-google-maps-area-calculator-tool.htm
TL: 21.66 acres
BB: 23.60 acres
AQ: 20.13 acres

I have 27.54 acres for the proposed water park area

13.05 acres for Wet and Wild...that's without the lake portion and parking lot

Note that the angled line that I drew next to the word entrance is on purpose... The area under the entrance letters may continue to be retention ponds or perhaps bus turn-arounds; it will not be WP.

You couldn't handle it in your fragile state. It has been described to me as inspired, epic and very Universal.

I can handle it and I want to see it. I'm beyond prepared for it. I've dreamt of a fantastic next-gen Waterpark for nearly twenty years...and have always hoped to see something I've dreamt about come to fruition. Hopefully it'll live up to my very high expectations.

Keep in sharp mind that I have no idea. But I would guess spring 2016. Let's hope great things for Diagon and super occupancy for Cabana Bay. Again... just me guessing.

If This park comes in 2016, can we still put expectations for Kidzone in 2016? I mean, if the rumors are true about kidzone closing in fall, that means that if it is pushed to 2017 it would be 3 years for it to open! thats getting to SDMT numbers!
