Unfortunately, anything noisy like fireworks won't cut it as this park is just across the street from a large gated residential community. A projections show on the Volcano might be an option, however I know of nothing planned. Do any of the waterparks stay open at night? I would think that would be a safety no-no.

I am thinking the perceived safety issues may be one of those cases where common sense leads to the wrong answer. With proper lighting guests in the water could be more visible to life guards at night than during the day.

Those people that live NEXT to a theme park can suck it. I say use all the fireworks and be as loud as you want. They knew what they were getting into when they moved into those places. I have no sympathy for them or for anyone that lives nearby a Six Flags or any other amusement park. If you can't stand the noise and crowds...MOVE.

Except that they legally can't be as loud as they want.

I hope whatever comes about, they shut Coco Key Down!!:fist:

and Hide it. I get you want people to see it from I-4 but the experience of feeling as though you are lost on Wondersea Island will allow one to feel more included, like Typhoon Lagoon.
Dont need the tallest slides or anything, just some creativity and innovation which Universal will do.

The people who moved into Toscana moved next to an empty lot, not a waterpark with a nightly firework show. Lets not forget the place isnt even announced yet let alone built...nobody knew what they were getting themselves into, the waterpark is still nothing more than a concept......

If you live nearby Universal, then you have to know that noise and fireworks and crowds were always a possibility. If you moved there 30 years ago before there was a Universal then I'd understand, but these people who move into apartments or communities nearby amusement and theme parks get what they deserve.

Yup within a 2 mile radius I think they warn you of all the possible commercial developments, fireworks, etc before you move in. I live maybe 3 or 4 miles away from Universal. Can't hear the fireworks outright but can see the color bursts in the sky.

...they deserve to be bothered by loud noise at night because they wanted to live in a nice area..?

Im not sure if Im just reading your message wrong or if theres some sort of anger built up toward people who live in nearby areas but it also works both ways. Universal knew that when they only bought x amount of land with a theme park that would take up y amount of space, they would run the risk of being surrounded by neighbors with certain requirements. As a matter of fact, Dr Phillips High School was across the street since the late '80's, BEFORE Universal even opened. So maybe the park is getting what it "deserves" knowing full well they were building in a residential area.

Either way, its still no big deal. Its not like Universal had some elaborate plans for a nighttime waterpark spectacular that got cancelled because of the neighbors...this whole thing is imaginary so far lol...just a page ago we were debating the safeness of even operating a water park in the dark. Its a moot point. And even if it wasnt, the Cinematic Spectacular still exists proving compromises can be made.

I always think it is funny when people complain that a neighboring property is doing a normal thing. Like there was a residential building whose residents were trying to stop a gas station from being built in front. Some of them were saying they considered the undeveloped land a nature park, and how wrong it is to take that away from them. But the land was always owned by someone else and was zoned commercial before the residential building was even built. Or when the person who lives across the street from the water tries to stop the property on the water from building because it blocks their view (it is not THEIR view, it is the person ON the waters view they let use for a few years lol).

This also goes for people that moved in next to a themepark and complain about things like the lights, traffic, etc. Anything that was obviously going to happen living next to a themepark. But having fireworks every night on the very edge of their property, with no buffering from the neighborhood across the street, is a different story. As was pointed out Universal bought the land where they did, that doesn't automatically make the land around it worthless.

I think IoA is best suited for a firework show anyways. They can have a show in the waterpark that projects light on the volcano, and they could probably have some smaller pyro effects (nothing grand enough to make the whole show). And then put in a better nighttime stunt show at USF.

Did anyone happen to see the second episode of tripflip last night. They showed the coolest raft/lazy river that goes through a long tunnel under a real mountain and then comes out into a tropical mini-lagoon. It was very much what I envisioned for this coming park.

Oh... and my guess about it opening in 2016 was completely incorrect. We will have to wait another year for it, unless Comcast gets all loose with their money.

That seems right. It's easy to get a ride up in a year, but to build a park in a year and a half or so seemed overly ambitious, even for Universal

It'll be really exciting to watch the construction process actually; I love looking at the photos from IOA's construction but it'll be even more fun following it in real time and seeing everything that has to go in like utilities, back of house stuff ect, then the actual fun stuff. Watching individual rides like Transformers and then lands like WWHP go up is cool enough, but an entire park (even without actual rides) is just a whole new scale.

No, Aquatica + its parking lot + the large retention pond on its property + all other area = 58 acres. The park itself is only 22 acres.

That's because all the quoted acreages include parking lots and surrounding land. You're quoting the size of the entire plot of land it sits on.

If we were quoting the entire plot of land for this park, it would be 31.5 acres.

I apologize Jungleskip...I did some further research and spent quite a bit of time on it and found out you are correct. The parks do indeed include all land the infrastructure, park, and parking lot in their acreage count.

So 30 acres(without a parking lot) should be a good amount of land for a solid Waterpark.

Idk about you guys but that parcel of land doesn't seem large enough for a decent water park. Its big but I just can't visualize it.

Actually, having the volcano could help them put more in the area as they could build slides on it and then have pools and rivers under and around it, too.

Holy Crap....

1 - The MIB mystrey plot is HUGE. great for whatever IP is going there!
2 - Is that a retention pond to the south of Hotel #5 space? That land looks to be good for a super deluxe, not just a deluxe. I believe 500 per night with less guest and more exclusivity is great
3 - There are two parking lots at RP and probably not enough for hotel #5 and water park.... opportunity to make a five story garage in the employee parking at RP and utilize it as follows?
a. floor 1-2 for employees of hotels and waterpark
b. floor 3-4 is for hotel gust
c. floor 5 (and 6 if needed) for waterpark visitors
4 - by when do you think they will Add a second garage to the employee parking area behind USO? If there a plan to combine some of the backstage buildings into one central building with more floors in order to free up space?
5 - Waterpark area does look odd to me. arent they building two towers for cabana in that spot? can they take the pond to the east (south of hotel #5) and utilize that for the waterpark as well?
