As unfortunate as it is, i'd agree with you on DK and Yoshi being the other two to get the spotlight.

One day Hyrule will take Universal with a vengeance..

I heard this from a pretty good source too. Not going to say it's going to happen like that but it's something I've heard.

I was just thinking maybe SkyLanders too as that seems to be making Nintendo a buttload of money and they may want to advertise through a land or attraction at the park. Now that I'm thinking about it, If I were Nintendo I would want that over something like Yoshi which doesn't make them nearly as much money as SkyLanders.

It'd make sense if Phase I is just the Mario universe with MK being the major E-Ticket; DK having a family coaster; and Yoshi being a family dark ride using TSMM shooter technology with Wooly World. It'd also allow Universal to do multiple mini-theme lands and have a way of getting a Hogsmeade/Diagon Alley type land where you literally walk into the world of Mario and not just go and say "hey, want Nintendo mashup; we got em!"

It's basically the same thing as Disney Infinity. They make the dough off of the additional figures that you buy for the game.

The only things you'll see that are similar, is Amibos.

Skylanders is an Activision property, though they recently made a deal to feature some of Nintendo's characters in the game (I think Bowser and DK), but it's not owned by Nintendo. Nintendo's figurine things are the amiibo which are selling very well. As of right now there are no games from nintendo in which it's core game play is based around their amiibos, though I wouldn't be surprised if they come out with their own Skylanders type game eventually.

I'd just not be surprised if word comes out of a exclusive Amibo with one of the Despicable Me minions to be available exclusively for all Universal themeparks. It'd be a pure money-making idea but it'd be a great idea too.

That's a pretty good idea. Also maybe having the minions featured in one of their games like Super Smash Brothers or something like that.

i know DK is a popular character but I honestly was hoping that they weren't going to have two apes on property.

It wouldn't surprise me if Pokemon/Zelda don't get used at all. They're a bit more on the geeky side of Nintendo whereas other most of the other characters are pretty well known.

I would love a Smash Bros. ride though. To actually ride through that would be awesome. That's definitely something where I can say, yes, bring on the screens.

Its weird, I get that but..DK is what started this. Like it or not,DK made Nintendo what it is, even before Mario came and that's when Nintendo got Mario as a mascot in home entertainment. Without a DK, we'd have no Mario.

I've heard the same over the past few days. It seems Nintendo wants to stick with the core Mario family for now. That's understood, it's their most popular and family friendly IPs. Sure we all have our favorites, the Metroids, the Zeldas, but those are all B-team compared to Mario & DK.

I see your point. I just can't wait to hear the confused people standing up at Skull Island... "So is this that Nintendo Land?" lmao

Wait until they build a Godzilla attraction... (i'm not even kidding, wouldn't be surprised if we see one in an eventual third park)

Would be very surprised if there were to be no Zelda ride. Zelda is every bit as big as Mario.

Zelda is big, but not among the GP. The IP isn't nearly as big or strong as Mario, DK, Yoshi, etc..

It just hasn't been very prominent in pop-culture for about 15 years unless you are someone that pays super close attention. I used to love the game, but I haven't played it since the N64 days. That falls a lot on Nintendo too... either not proper promotion or their consoles being weaksauce. Unless someone brings it up, i've pretty much forgotten about it.

Zelda franchise has a lot of games, more than any other perhaps. Though unfortunately all later games seem to be for the DS. Kind of sad though, right at the end of the Wii U's life we will finally get a Zelda title for it.
I do agree though, that Mario has a greater pop-culture pull and is probably more known outside of the gaming world, but the Zelda series has a very dedicate fan base.

I still want my Captain Toad mine coaster as well :)
