Yep, but it does have some good rides. Uni has capacity issues of their own. When I went there all the lines were crazy long. I couldn't imagine doing that park in the summer and that was with only Disaster closed. Never the less spring break or christmas. Minions is always 100 minute or more wait ever time I go. It goes down to 60 later at night, but that is toy story mania crazy long and TS is getting a 3rd track next year. Transformers was 45 to 60 all day, Gringotts the same. MIB was 20 to 40 all day. Simpsons of all rides was at 60 to 80 minutes, really Simpsons? Just saying, it has issues too, but people seem to overlook it. It wasn't bad before Diagon, but now it seems like the waits are way longer with more people.

They'll have a slight issue next summer, which is why Hulk and Kong will pick up the slack. Then 2017 additions will clear it up. Point is there's more stuff people want to do at USF

Interesting that some of the same people who think closing several rides in HS is gonna kill the park but closing 3 rides and 2 shows is no biggie in US. Just an observation.

Before D23, there was no timeline for any of the projects. Heck we still don't even really have one, just a good idea. Backlot has been closed for a year now with no movement on the plot whatsoever.

Still, DHS still has a lot less offerings than USF does and will have even less when the construction really picks up.

Touring Plans has even presented evidence that the closing of the attractions/offerings has really affected everything at the park.

Point is, there was a lot more to be up in arms about with DHS compared to USF.

- TSMM essentially = Minion Mayhem as far as crowds go
- Toy Story Land will arguably draw larger crowds than Springfield could ever dream of on it's own
- Plus DHS has Star Tours, TOT and GMR

The only "ride" that has been closed at DHS is the Backlot Tour. They don't have a Diagon yet, but their attempt is coming in Star Wars.

DHS is still quite depressing to see these days, but The Launch Bay is going to add capacity to the park soon, as well as the dance party in the new theatre. Mickey also is now meeting in the former Narnia soundstage along with Santa Goofy in the Backlot Tour queue for the holidays. So at least some small steps are being taken to address capacity before construction.

Some are seriously trying to compare a park shutting down 2 minor old attractions (1 being a ride) with a park that only has 5 rides period? USF still has 13 rides and a good half of them are major and 4 pure shows (not even counting the street shows like Blues Brothers and the 3 newer ones -- if you do that, DHS lost one of those recently too and doesn't have a parade currently.)???

USF alone has more rides than DAK and HS combined.

American Idol, Sounds Dangerous, Backlot, Animation, Jack Sparrow all closed, one was replaced with a frozen sing along and the other is just a preview center. The others have been closed a while and absolutely nothing has happened (unless you count the lounge)

I personally am not comparing the park now as much as I am comparing what DHS will be in 3-4 years. Of course I guess that's veering a bit off path.

And slight correction. the lounge is now a Meet & Greet.

Rides at USF after Kidzone closes:

Gringotts
Hogwarts Express
Transformers
Mummy
Rockit
Despicable Me
MIB
Simpsons
ET
Kang and Kodos

That's 10 rides, double of what DHS has. Add in all the shows and it's still a well rounded park, capacity will be fine.

Yeah but.. USF needs to consider adding a real show somewhere to pick up some slack. This Street Break/Food Truck business is a minor, minor distraction at best.

just went to the studios yesterday and the park had what looked like the same amount of people as always but because so many things closed the stuff that was opened had long lines for the off season and the amount of people just walking around made it look like summer so people are still going to this park its just be prepared to wait an hour for everything

They keep tearing all their shows out for more attraction space and you expect them to design an actual show? I'd say the last real chance of that happening is in Nintendoland.

Otherwise, it'll all be little street shows, like the kind they do in the Potter areas.

If all of that were closed when Diagon Alley opened, it would have been a mess.
A lot of DHS will still be behind walls when Star Wars Land opens in 2018.

To be fair, it is "Jersey Week", so it is going to be more crowded this week either way

If you're expecting a show in Nintendoland, you won't be getting one.

There's an outside (very outside) chance that one could come to USF, but I'm not holding my breath.

Oh I agree that HS sucks. Capacity, offerings, etc. But I will also say that attendance is down in that park. But I don't see US attendance dropping any time soon, only rising. Which is why I think closing so many things at US will harm it. Lines will be longer and this could cause a guest satisfaction issue. This will be the lowest amount of rides/shows Studios has had since before Comcast bought them and before Phase 1. However, the attendance numbers are MUCH higher since Comcast bought them and Phase 1 was completed. So you can't deny there will be an issue and honestly may not be the smartest move Uni has made post-phase 1.

To be fair, TSL will open in 2017. The 3rd track which adds capacity will open in 2016. And there is a good chance based on rumors Star Wars will open in 2018. I am not even trying to compare the parks or say one is better than the other. That is not what I am trying to do.

I am saying that Uni will have a major capacity issue if they shut down Kidzone after the holiday season. The problem will exist until they open something in 2017. That is over a year of low capacity issues. I can't believe anyone thinks it won't cause longer lines and frustrate guests. Everyone is jumping down Disney's throats (rightfully so) for the same exact reason. I don't think we should just give Uni a pass.

I know that Universal doesn't need to re-brand like DHS does, but I honestly think Universal should go away from the studios name too. They don't do any "studio" like rides anymore and they are moving to more themed lands. Not sure what they could name it, but the studios name makes about as much sense as DHS does.

It'll be an issue for a year, though I don't think it will be anywhere near as bad as some do here. Comcast is looking at the long game. If you have the opportunity to open Kong, Hulk, Volcano Bay, Fallon, F&F, and Nintendo in back-to-back-to-back years, you take it. You have Star Wars to deal with in the immediate future, and you want all hands on deck for that, not to mention additions to IoA will help take the pressure off USF next year.
