I'm curious as to why Pokemon would be left out as its one of Nintendo's most well known properties. I would have expected its presence to be second only to Mario. I think a Pokemon safari or Pokemon Snap type ride (as has been mentioned in this thread before) would be great.

Nintendo does not own Pokémon.

I thought Pokemon was owned by The Pokemon Company, which in turn is owned by Nintendo? I know there are other companies involved, such as Game Freak who I think does the development for the main games. Is that where the issue comes in?

The Pokémon Company has no ownership. It's a company formed by Nintendo, Game Freak, and Creatures to be a steward for the brand. Game Freak holds most of the power when it comes to Pokémon. Nintendo just produces and distributes the games.

I see. So Game Freak would have to be in on the deal. I wonder what would stop them, unless Nintendo just isn't interested in bringing them along for the ride.

I think, to start with, Nintendo probably wants to feature their own characters. If there's ever an expansion, I could see Pokémon being brought in as an anchor

:topic: I know I helped get us off track...but let's circle back to Nintendo.

What does everyone want to see? Let's say you get 4-5 rides to build. Realistically (aka no FOUR E-TICKETS!) what would you like to see them do with the space?

Mine:
-Mario Kart trackless, interactive E-ticket
-Donkey Kong family mine train coaster
-2 flat rides
-Something Zelda...dunno how to do it, but I want it.

Id be pretty stoked with this list right here. Would love to see them do a boat ride for Zelda, sort of along the lines of Pirates an dmaybe based off the Wind Walker games. Would tie that in well since it was all based off islands and that ride system would add some nice balance to what is at USF already and is lacking there as of now.

Eh....I love boat rides, but a serene boat ride is not Zelda. I honestly think the only way to properly do Zelda would be an Escape Room like experience.

Whatever does come, I hope it's varied. Screens, AAs, coasters, flat rides, shows, etc all of it.

well isn't a bttf reboot in the works as well as every other movie made in the 80s

No, it is not being rebooted and there's no sequels.

IMO, BTTF just won't work now unless they made a new plot for the ride that doesn't involve the "future" of 2015.

Actually, that could be a good starting point for a new ride storyline, something involving how that version of 2015 has become a parallel timeline like 1985A.

1. Mario Kart e-ticket, would be competitive with trackless ride vehicles and augmented reality items
2. Luigi's Mansion e-ticket, would be an interactive shooting type dark ride except with vacuums/ghosts instead of guns, featuring screen and practical effects (so basically, something like Mystic Manor except with Luigi's Mansion)
3. Donkey Kong mine train d-ticket, could be similar to 7DMT but on a much smaller scale.
4. Yoshi-themed carousel flat ride
5. Yoshi egg-themed teacup spinner flat ride
Also, I'm thinking a small play area similar to what KidZone has now would be a good addition. Universal has always been great at making those, and while IOA still has plenty, US is losing both of its ones soon. It could fit nice and snuggly with the Yoshi or Donkey Kong attractions, with a Donkey Kong jungle theme or a Yoshi's Island theme.

And that's just what I think Mushroom Kingdom at Studios should be. I do think Hyrule should be a phase 2, except in Islands of Adventure replacing Lost Continent.

For some reason I could see a Poseidon's Fury-style attraction working decently for Zelda. Use the first part of the attraction as an exposition dump or "dungeon" experience (Temple of Time? :p), then open it up to a special effects show with Link fighting Ganon(dorf) for the fate of the Triforce or whatever. In any case I agree it probably shouldn't be a straight up- ride.

I have two questions about KidZone closing:
1. Is there a chance they might close it in phases? So George/Barney/Woody first then Animal Actors/Spongebob later? I feel like they could do this to help give a chance to reroute E.T., and to not lose all the capacity at once.
2. Once KidZone does close, does this mean why might finally get some details/artwork about the Nintendo?

I have no inside info, but you bring up an interesting point.

Universal has been very strange about announcing details in relation to closing attractions. Potter, Transformers, and Volcano Bay (major projects, although Transformers less so) had announcements happen far after construction started, much less attractions closing.

Yet F&F and Fallon had announcements occur before attractions closed (both kinda major, I suppose).

So, either Universal is sticking to this format of major attractions having construction before announcements, or the announcement + closure model is the new standard.

For Nintendo, I can't see them full on announcing it just yet. I'd say give it till E3 2017 and then we'll get the news break for USF, USH and USJ on their plans for the IP as it makes sense to not announce it during a time where you may want people to come to your park.

That's an interesting thought. It also begs the question if E3 is an appropriate place for something like that. I don't remember any of the studios ever announcing media plays (TV shows, movies, the like) at E3. The closest is announcing Netflix availability on a console.

Its interesting if it'd be the right place but in all reality it would. If the NX wasn't going to be possibly releasing next year, I would of saw possibly more on the theme park front but it makes sense logical sense in a way of synergy, especially if they reveal some of the possible usages with Amibo slots in Nintendo land.

I am not saying it will happen, but I feel its very likely that Nintendo theme park news will have to wait till E3 2017.

I doubt it'll close in phases, but it's possible.
