Hey!! There it is!
Very happy that they went simple with the name. "Nintendo Switch 2" is the objectively correct choice. Playstation has known this forever, keep it simple. Wii U, Xbox One X, New Nintendo 2DS XL, Xbox Series X...no one knows what these names mean. Sony has the 5th Playstation and Nintendo has the 2nd Switch. Grandma's gonna have a real easy time at Best Buy this Black Friday!
Incredibly happy to finally see Mario Kart 9! Since the graphical jump won't be as huge between 8 and 9, I think it's cool that they're going for a new artstyle for the first time since...Double Dash really! It's not so new either, looks like it's harkening back to SNES Super Mario Kart. Very interested to see how everyone looks, especially newer characters like Waluigi, Pauline, Bowser Jr, and especially Diddy Kong. Between this and Mario Wonder, I'm glad to see a continuation of Nintendo's willingness to be more bold with stylizing their major characters after the Wii U / 3DS era that felt so factory sealed and rigidly on-model.
24 racers is a fun idea at first glance, but the more I think on it, I've never even been able to get 12 Racers in a match locally together, and I worry that it just kinda means 12 more people losing in the end? I'm up to see where it goes though!
It’s so weird how Metroidvanias are this massive genre with like a million indie games every year and is usually critically and commercially successful, and yet nobody buys actual Metroid games when they release
I think it's all to do with the price. You can get much longer and more substantial Search-action games than Dread on Switch for a fraction of the price. Hollow Knight, Blasphemous, any of the many Castlevania collections; and many of these go on sale frequently too. I think Nintendo hampers the sales of a lot of games due to price. People would be a lot more willing to get into Famicom Detective Club, Big Brain Academy, Pikmin, Fatal Frame, Endless Ocean, etc if they were priced to match their place in the greater gaming marketplace.
