Only way a new Zelda comes out that soon is if they use the same engine and make a majora mask type spin off. It won’t be a “new” game. A 2D game is possible though.

How could they be able to do a Mainline Zelda, when they just started to seemingly hire over the summer? Hell, there were job listings for a 2D Zelda back in the Spring/Summer period of 2017.

I would imagine, they are developing the new Mainline, and it'd use a similar engine to BoTWs (but a bit more beefed up), but I don't expect that until Late 2020/2021 at the earliest.

If there's anything in Zelda next year, I'd place my chips on something from the 3DS Zelda team: Nintendo EAD.

EAD isn’t just one team, it’s many. BotW was developed by EPD after a quick Wikipedia search even though Zelda is normally done by a team in EAD.

If a new 2D Zelda is coming soon consider me excited.

If there is some kind of 3D Zelda game next year though, I could buy Skyward Sword coming back. And there may be some credience too, given the apparent rumor on the street from one of the JP Zelda concerts that went on in this month..

As much as people disliked the skyward swords motion controls , I can’t imagine the game being nearly as interesting without them. So if they are going to port it, hopefully they keep the motion controls

They overhauled it for the 3DS. I don’t want more remakes or remasters, release new games.

Definitely prefer new games, just always wondered why Ocarina of Time was redone for the 3DS but not for WiiU or now for Switch. Ideally though, they should just release a Legend of Zelda collection which includes about all the games.

Don't you wish that evil upon me.

Anyway, I bought Let's Go Pikachu this weekend, and it's great. I greatly prefer the catching pokemon rather than battling them in the wild. I think the game could use a "hard" mode where rival trainers are leveled up slightly, but that's also something I've always thought was needed in the main series as well.

Overall, I think the complaints from the "hardcore" are much ado about nothing, as the game still definitely feels like Pokemon.

They're going to sell almost as many Switches in 2.5 years as Xbox sold Ones in 4 years.

I think analysts need to get their head on straight.

The Switch is on track to reach 35 million unit shipments by March, according to the average of eight analysts’ estimates compiled by Bloomberg, short of Nintendo’s target of 38 million.

Really? 3 million short and it causes a ruckus? Do they not realize what’s coming next year? Are they incapable of long term thinking? As 2018 went on and we realized what the release schedule would be like it was clear they wouldn’t reach their lofty goal.

Just watch next year when we have Animal Crossing and Pokémon making its first big home console debut. You thought 2017 was a good sales year? Oooooooooooo boy.

yeah, 2019 is going to be a packed year. Especially with Fire Emblem, Pokemon, Animal Crossing, and other Nintendo games that may be in development. Considering that this was a smaller year in line-up, it says something that they are getting to at-least 35 million this fast.

Makes sense considering people didn’t want it even back on the Wii which everyone had.

I don't think it has much to do with appeal..but the type of game that Skyward Sword is.

If they would do something, they'd likely have to revamp the motion controls entirely; or remove them with new control schematics.

And either one, may bring a bit of controversy.

__

...anywho, if it isn't a SS port, then I'm more confident in thinking that EAD3 will be doing a 2D Zelda of some sort.
