I can't remember who said it but I heard someone say the boat rides would be similar, using the same technology.

It was Disneyhead and yes, the tech is the same. But I believe it will be on a smaller scale. It will look awesome, but will be shorter.

Boat tech, yes. None of that silly screen stuff and more AAs than Shanghai's PotC.

Prompting guests to touch live foliage is up there on the "really bad idea" scale..

Those rocks on posts look so silly. Where could you see them from?

The blue green moss paint they have used looks horrid.

First words out of my mouth regarding the ToL when I first visited AK was "why are leaves blue/green?". Look at the real foliage in Bri's last pic. Everything is yellow/green.

I am waggin my finger in dismay...

The rocks on posts are seen from the parking lot like that. In the actual land they are meant to provide depth.

If the want to hide the "sticks", all they need to do is have waterfalls forms the bottom of the rocks. I doubt they'll do that though.

Also, MickeyXtreme tweeted out an aerial today. I'm on my phone so I can't post, but just figured I'd put it out there.

That's an obscene waste of money that could be achieved with nearly flat panels for the same effect.

I think those are the new Avatar lollipops Disney has been hyping haha

I'm all for providing depth to a scene, but not at the cost of compromising a view from a distance if you can avoid it.

This part of the part will look awesome from the parking lots, why compromise it with very little payoff.

I agree to points of cost too, while in the land i don't think this adds much either with the high cliff wall facade that hides the show building.

Regarding the paint color, maybe they are planning for some fading in the sun?

I know that was taken into consideration for the tree of life and even in that they came up a little too short and the fade because VERY green.

Lastly, all the floating rocks seem to have a lot of small tree features. Going to be very very fascinating to see how this holds up in the first storm.

i agree it seems like a waste in cost for little pay off. i wont comment on how they look until everything is finished. to me it matters more what it looks like in the land than outside of the park

I would normally say yes to this, but it is going to look pretty odd as you are walking in to see these weird things. This is different from a show building. Also, they will not look floating at all from the parking lot, which really breaks the cool part when you walk into the land itself.

Yeah, I hope this is one of those things that you have to see in person to appreciate. The pictures I've seen aren't very impressive and seems like it was a huge waste of money. But it's still early stages and it may all turn out OK once it's completed. I'll give it some time.

I'm with MD. This is one of those wait and see things. I bet from ground level inside the park, they will be pretty cool. Disney really is very good at forced perspective.
