Well, it was nitwit that went all independent with Cameron in signing the deal. WDI was reportedly all "Wha?".

No doubt. But I think they will avoid situations like this where they were "somewhat coerced" by a hard to work with collaborator. I would think that, in the future, huge land projects will only be IP's (like Star Wars) that they have complete control of. ....One worry though, is that Star Wars is so ambitious, it may reach a point where it goes "way" over budget, and Disney starts cutting stuff out.

Definitely agree the Disney will stick to IPs from now on. As for cutting stuff out, they have already cut one attraction of Star Wars.

Yeah, but that was more because Orlando didn't want to pay their share. According to Mice Age & some Magic Insiders, Anaheim wanted the third attraction.

I don't think a perceived failure of Pandora will kill other projects. It will mean projects of that scope, scale and budget will be very unlikely to happen. Projects will go forward being much more cost-conscious.

I do think the combination of Pandora and rivers of light will help Animal Kingdom. Just not as much as the accountants would like.

The big problem I see is capacity. Are the new rides in Pandora World high capacity? The park is going to be packed with people wanting to see the land and go on the rides. Thinking of the 5 hour lines when Frozen opened. A single ride, on a low attendance summer year. I'm just picturing a horrible crush of humanity all sweating in the Florida heat. Ughhh

Good point. Does anyone know the capacity of the upcoming Pandora rides?

It is going to be amazing, I hope. I just wonder about the upkeep. Disney has been slacking on upkeep in recent years. It is going to need some serious love from maintenance to keep it looking pretty.

Frozen is now down to a little higher than Maelstrom lines (though frankly I think this has more to do with WDW attendance). I have no worries about the boat ride capacity and the E Ticket thrill ride will have four theaters.

Yep, their lines have been significantly shorter than Kong when I've checked. I think you're spot on about Epcot's attendance.

I saw some of this from the line for Summit Plummet at Blizzard Beach and it just looks awesome. Also, I recommend doing Summit Plummet just for the WDW views.

Four theaters. Sounds like they learned their lesson from Soarin'. Unfortunately, some will give WDW a hard time for short lines there when it is actually due to good planning. Isn't it amazing what you can do with a big budget?

Four theaters would mean an hourly capacity above 2,000. Would it be in the 2,000-2,500 range, or 2,500+?

Not 2500+. I believe I've heard close to 2200, but could be wrong.

You're assuming the theaters themselves will have the same capacity as the Soarin one, which they probably won't.

I'm not sure how you can compare this to Diagon really...This land is more organic, if you will, than Diagon..

Diagon Alley is now the new standard for theme park lands. Everything will be compared to it, regardless of how different it is.

This is one of the few times I feel sorry for WDI. They should not be blamed for the fact that this will never compete with Harry Potter. It could be the best of the best, but it will never have the draw. Never.
