Ok, so instead of the Horizontal Load to Vertical Show, now it would be Vertical Load to Vertical Show? Saving on hydraulics? perhaps? I'm pretty sure it still a swing chair with a 70's car waist seat belt and a big screen in your face.

It's also a thrill ride, Soarin' is decidedly not. Theming makes the experience. That's why Pirates is not Small World 2.0 (even if it is from a ride system perspective).

Yes, it's the same general principal as Soarin', but the ride tech has been completely re-designed. Hence, cousins.

I'm really pulling for a Splash Mountain type deal here with Avatar--a franchise that isn't as relevant living on and continuing/succeeding as a theme park addition. I think Pandora lends itself wonderfully to becoming the Fantasyland of AK. Now let's just hope it doesn't just look pretty.

"soarin 2.o" describes more of how it works than the actual ride experience or technology.

I just want to go on record as saying, all this aside, I think it's going to be stupid.

Well executed is not the same as well done.

The only thing as old as this project is the people complaining about it. It's a tired conversation, but feel free to add yourself to the list and move forward.

Will it look like Mermaid?

Will we get to make hand gestures to glowing jellyfish plants? Who are actively sorting the sex-tails of horse dragons and weresmurfs?

Maybe a drunk rhinobug will be like "Does this horsedragon go with this weresmurf?" "Wave your hand up and down for yes, or side to side for no! Hic! *gurgle*"

SO magical.

Why are you so negative about something you seem to know very little about? I just don't get it. I talked about how some of the ideas on here are unrealistic and that post was ignored and instead the negative comments that mean nothing keep continuing. DH asked a valid question of what people would want and it seems hardly any realistic alternatives were given. I wish we had more information to talk about on this one that was real instead just this negative tone that comes across in most of your posts. OU has never been about this high level of negativity. DH and I and others have gotten into spirited debates when it comes to Disney, because DH has valid reasons to not like the direction Disney has taken the last 15 years. The debates have always been reasonable and never had such a negative tone. It is why I like this place so much, at the end of the day we can all get along and have some great conversations. I hope that OU can stay that way and not take this negative turn about everything. It isn't even just Disney, I have seen this negative ton in Universal posts too. I would rather focus on the good things and debating what we think will happen or not happen vs. have a bunch of negative comments out of nowhere.

better yet if people hate the project so much why bother coming to the thread to constantly bash the project. DH had a valid question and apparently has some insider info. its to a point where he has become a troll on this thread, sad really because we actually were having a good converation

Agreed. I value DHs info and opinion and would really like to have a productive conversation about ideas and hopes we have. Things we would like to see or not see. But it just gets derailed from these negative comments that don't have any value to the conversation.

Can I go on record as saying, I don't care what your assumptions of a ride you know nothing about are?

I get what you guys are saying about negativity towards the ride, but let's not turn around and make this into a pitchfork parade towards the people with the different opinion - hard stance and all.

It just keeps the circle of negative and hate going.

I agree Brian, I don't want to go the other way and gang up on people with different opinions. I don't want my post to sound like I don't want opposite opinion, I actually do. I am totally OK with people being against this ride. I have my reservations with this project especially the time it has taken to complete this and what other things there will be in this land. I just want to have a good debate about what we want to see, what we don't want to see, etc. And stop the random negative comments that don't add anything to the debate. Trust me, I love a good spirited debate, but I don't feel like random negative comments that have nothing to do with the actual rides add anything to the debate and stop the conversation instead.

There seems to be a lot of negative vibes towards the "Soarin' 2.0" ride. I was wondering what it would have to do to be considered by yous guys to be a state of the art E-Ticket attraction?

Facade? Queue? Ride vehicle? On ride experience?
I've never been one that the level of tech means much to me. I'm more into the bottom line. And that bottom line has to combine a number of elements, not just a ride in a nondescript building. To me, a great E ticket is an attraction with a very good to excellent queue, on the order of FJ, Gringotts, Mummy, TZ Tower of Terror etc. ....A memorable stand out facade sets the initial mood & is essential. We're spoiled with the likes of Kong, FJ, Gringotts, Tower of Terror,Haunted Mansion, etc., so I think it needs to jump out at you like those do. And good stirring music outside, in the queue & on the attraction to set the mood. FJ & JPR are stirring music tracks that are good examples. And then there's the actual ride. Foremost, the ride needs to be memorable, fun & entertaining with unexpected surprises, and a decent length, a minimum of four minutes. Finally, it must have great re rideability. I want to enjoy the twentieth ride almost as much, or more than the first. I want to discover nuances I missed on the first couple of rides when I go on it for the fifth or sixth time....If Pandora's E ticket can meet those qualifications, then I'll judge it as worthy of belonging in the elite company of excellent E tickets. It doesn't really matter to me if it's using a system that's similar to Soarin. The final total presentation is what's important to me.

i think there is a big difference between disagreement about this and openly mocking the project just for mockings sake (see posts above) the posts above are beyond just being negative towards a ride

"Will we get to make hand gestures to glowing jellyfish plants? Who are actively sorting the sex-tails of horse dragons and weresmurfs?"

i mean seriously in the words of Chris Carter "Come on Man"

but ill move on

I agree with this. If I wasn't on this website I wouldn't even think of tech as anything. Now being on here I know more and knowing more always changes stuff. However, it still isn't the end all be all with me. If it was I wouldn't be as excited for Kong as I am because the large "trackless" vehicle is a tech that has been around for a ton of years (great movie ride & Energy). But I am still excited because of all the stuff we know about the queue, AAs, etc.

Avatar I am excited about how I hear this ride will be immersive way more than Soarin. How the land looks from pictures we are seeing while it is being built. I was excited when I saw the concept art for the boat ride and even more knowing it will be able to stop and be maybe more of scenes vs just floating by. So timing will be better.

What we don't know is how the places to eat and shop will be, how the queue will be, if there will be additional neat things like HP lands have, etc. Those are some of the unknowns (there are many more) that I am interested in seeing more information. I am hoping for the theme to not break anywhere including queues and getting on the ride itself.

I expect we get an official video with clips that include the inside of the building by November.
