Friday the 13th review

The parking wasn’t bad ($25) and having free access to the ship was nice. Earlier during the day, I received a text that said you must wait till your selected time slot to enter the maze and I decided to test and see if they would actually stand on business. Well, they actually did. I picked 10:30 pm since the other slots were taken and they are very strict about making sure you only go during your time. I finally got in line at 10 pm and by that time, the strict workers were gone. The ringmaster interacts with you while in line.

After getting my tickets scanned in and going through the metal detector, I finally made it to the second floor and received my glow stick before entering the maze. The maze is very similar to the prequel. I had scareactors scattered throughout the maze but the issue is the darkness. They took blackout too literal and you can barely see and only hear actors tryna scare you. The best part of the maze is the option where you can climb in the oven but that’s normal.

Best part of the night is the “afterparty.” It was decorated well and had banners of each feast year starting with 2017 and ending with 2025. The chef is available to interact with.

Subjectively, I grade this event a C+. It doesn’t look like a DH event at all and I personally didn’t like the time slots. Also, don’t eat/drink there. Go outside and get bang for your buck. I’m still glad I went cause I got to enjoy the maze with other fans like me.

I got the pre-sale tickets. They were pretty dang cheap, and you didn't even yet have to commit to a specific date.

I haven't gone in a good many years, so willing to give it a go. Not expecting much, so even if it's just so-so, I'll consider that above my expectations

So last year I planned ahead and I bought presale tickets last year and Costco was still cheaper in the middle of the season, so that really turned me off of presale.

I'm considering attending during my LA trip in October. The "only way to have a great experience is to get a Fast Pass" comment is scaring me through...Are the crowds that bad? If I do attend, it'll be on Saturday, October 4.

It's been a while since I've gone, but if you get there early, it can be more manageable. But for the most part, I do recall the lines moving very slowly

Sorry for the seeming double post, but it's been nearly two weeks, and I'll be going to Dark Harbor this weekend for the first time in many, many years.

Does anyone have any tips as to managing crowd levels for mazes? We have Fast Fright, for what it's worth. And we're not too terribly interested in the bars, mostly the mazes themselves. And unfortunately, due to a purchasing snafu, we can't arrive until 9:15, so we're already nervous the lines will already be long before we even get there

I bought Fast Fright tickets for my group.

My maze rankings Voodoo: The Queen’s Curse Feast Infirmary Breakout Big Top Terror Lullaby

We had early entry but arrived at 8 so we were late. We parked near Oceangate so my homie didn’t have to pay for parking. We took the shuttle and it took us awhile to get through security to make our way through the entrance.

The first four mazes didn’t take too long to wait (Breakout, Voodoo, Feast, Infirmary) but we noticed the longest lines of the night were all in Fast Fright. My homie thinks so many people bought that option when discounted so they made the queue long. This really affected us when we entered the Lullaby line. The line was terrible and the lack of scares in the maze didn’t help. What made it worst was the entire line cleared after we finished our last maze (Big Top Terror). I have an issue with QM punishing people for ordering Fast Fright by making them wait longer. VIP and Evil Express were treated correctly.

Voodoo is the best maze. Very intense. Feast and Infirmary delivered as well. Breakout was once again all over the place, and Lullaby was the worst maze by far. Big Top had its moments but the loud horns were too much for my ears to handle.

The story of each maze was hard to understand since everything was fast paced. I enjoyed the event overall but the Lullaby line really pissed me off and took me out of the horror element for awhile. I would go back again to see if any adjustments have been made but as of right now, I would rank this event #3 on my haunt list. HHN is the best so far this year and KSF is my next place to visit.
