Unknown confirmed there will be NO 3D but will have some minor budget cuts that doesn't seem to effect it much.

So there you go. You can rest easy now.

If anything, I could see them cutting back on the number of mechanical characters. Original plans were shooting for the moon, which is a very good thing, but.

Agreed, if they use screens like Little Mermaid or Nemo, that is fine. Screens have a place in rides and it is OK. Now if it is screen based like Transformers or Spiderman, that is a little different.

What's the difference here? Nemo isn't 3D? It's still nothing but screens.

Sounds about right. Submit an overly ambitious plan so when it gets a final budget you get the product you were really shooting for in the first place

Transformers and Spider-Man are also significantly better than either of the examples so...

The one section is all screens and I would agree I wouldn't want that type of section in Slop ride. But the other stuff is mostly props with screens mixed in where Nemo is. It is mostly a set with screens in small sections where they need the characters to be. The jellyfish and anglar fish are no screens. The end projection on the fish tank is different too. But the one turtle tunnel is all screens and that part could go, but I see why they did it. Transformers and spiderman do not have a single lasting scene that doesn't involve screens. The best is at the very end of transformers where he is above you and in spiderman the lady liberty coming down on you. But those are pretty brief. The main focal point in both those rides is the action on the screens.

I agree those examples are also for different crowds of people. My point was that you can have a ride that has screens, but screens is not the main focal point for the majority of the ride. Screens are not bad, and I have never said they should be removed from all rides. They have a time and place. But for me, having 3D and 80% of the rides focal points being screens is what I am hoping Slop doesn't do. I am hoping it is more 80% on other stuff and 20% on screens. Because I think Uni needs a little variety. And before anyone says it, I know Disney could use more variety and I am totally behind that point to. But it doesn't mean Uni shouldn't rise above what other parks are doing and bring a little variety into their parks.

That's what I think as well. Classical bargaining technique, you always ask for more than what you want.

Yeah, budgets at the development stage of projects are almost always fluid & flexible. That's just a normal part of the process. Also, sometimes conceptualized projects come in way over what the original budget was, so that often necessitates changes to meet the original budget target.

Phew... I can rest easy.

So I'm assuming the main characters and locations will be sets/AAs, while some minor stuff will be done via screens.

Yeah, he said the minor cut was just removing the pre show from the first floor to the second floor with the ride itself. He also said it's a very long ride.

And who knows when it's time to build it in Orlando they deside to plus it (or even during construction like has happened to Kong). We all know comcast is more then willing and able to spent money when it matters.

I'd assume stuff like creating depth in the background well behind the sets and AAs

Maybe the apartment windows will be screens with stuff happening outside.

Goodness, that guy is playing with fire if he in fact knows anything. There are so few people on that project right now that who knows and said what is very easy trace. Perhaps he is Universal marketing trying to cloud or control the void.

What are the chances this goes into shrek instead of the empty theatre in toon lagoon? It would make sense it would look out on to New York then.

As BriMan previously said, his track record is decent. I think he was also releasing stuff on Orlando Parks News in the past. If he was Universal marketing, it would be pure genius, since his comments usually stir interest. Heck, I used to think you were Universal marketing too. ;)

Yeah, I was thinking the same. Then it would also serve to clean up and re theme that ugly Studio's entrance area. But it might be problematic to tear any more family stuff down while Kidzone will be experiencing it's transformation into Nintendo.

Shrek still needs to go at some point. A DVD bonus feature billed as an actual attraction. Even more easy to replicate in a house than TSMM would be (I never got that though since it would be expensive as hell getting all those TV's and Wii's). Donkey can stay though.
