And I agree, hence why I am not mentioning anything about that and more that it's something that hasn't been announced yet when it seems like they really want to do this attraction.

Just y'all go throw money at it. I'm in the theater right now, and I'm not even a fan of Illumination films. But trust me: it'll be worth it.

Not to worry, I missed it too. The good news is that I don't give a ****. I guess I am just too worn out from tech specs and engineering plans and multiple previz videos... I can only take so much...

The film is good, not great. My quick post-screening Twitter thoughts:

Fun, cute, breezy, and a perfectly pleasant way to spend an evening in the theater. Anything beyond that? No. It's one of those movies you enjoy the hell out of while watching but don't think much about after. In that way, it's very flavor of the month animation. That said? Illumination has really nailed down their physical comedy sensibility. They're essentially the new Looney Tunes.

I'm a little disappointed with the script... I expected there to be much more of an emotional core and exploration of the dynamics between pets and owners, but it's all kind of left on the table for a meandering caper where not a lot really happens. Dug and Max feel chronically underdeveloped... in fact, Gidget (the female dog), Snowball, and Tiberius are far more interesting and entertaining to watch.

I would love a ride with these critters, though, ideally one that isn't a "and then things go horribly wrong!" plot. Of course, I'm sure we'll just end up chasing a gerbil around New York City (and into the sewers) in a madcap chase, or something.

Why would you expect the exploration if owners and pets when the premise of this movie is what the pets do when the owners are not around?

The most emotionally poignant moments of the movie are when the pets interact with or do something for their owners. Our protagonists (Duke and Max) are entirely motivated by servicing their owner. The ethical nature of this subservience is flirted with via the "Flushed Pets," but it's all very surface level. I expected a little more - it misses the heart that elevates Despicable Me.

Well now; I guess it shouldn't be a shock that UC Fasttracks this attraction for Orlando..

Wish they would with the original attraction idea and not tampering with it. It would certainly fill a void with a largely predominate AA trackless dark ride for families.

I was guessing that they are probably fasttracking this now for UOR, as it would make sense.

Has construction actually started in Hollywood? Or is all the speculation now when it might start in Orlando?

Well that's Reddit for you; separated and mis-organized in several ways, and forming together as the size of the army to bash/love something the next..

and I love/hate that system.

Thanks. That's what I thought, but since this thread is in the Hollywood folder I wanted to make sure.

The film was a cute, harmless, and fun watch. It won't win the Best Animated Oscar, but it wasn't a film I'd imagine parents being mad that they had to sit through, either. It basically did turn out to just be "Toy Story.....but with dogs".

Not exactly sure what they would pull from that narrative for a ride concept outside of the overall "talking pets that cause shenanigans during the day". No idea if they would go the route of trying to retell the movie or just use the main characters in a new "and then something goes wrong" scenario invented for the ride.

Original concept was to retell the movie, basically.
