I didn't think it's been open since the late 70s or so. I remember going as a kid then, and never noticed it being open. That said, I was pretty young, so there is a chance I just missed it.

While I realize a Scrambler is nothing special, losing a flat ride when a park only has 5 to begin with (not counting the kiddie rides, carousel, or bumper cars: Crazanity, Swashbuckler, Turbo, and Buccaneer) is really, really, not a great step in the right direction. :confounded: Plus, that particular Scrambler always had a decently long cycle, as well as actually running at full speed.

I'm also surprised they'd remove Superman. Even if the ride isn't coming back, it's expensive to remove stuff (look at Disney--to this day 23+ years later still has Peoplemove track up all over the place). You'd think there would be a way to repurpose that track with new trains and new/updated launch tech to create a new, updated ride.

And side note, no one is talking about that odd container that's sitting near the main entrance by the Police Substation. It has a window as if it's intended to sell something, and there seems to be some sort of kitchen equipment in it, but absolutely nothing has happened with it for the at least 6 months or so that it appeared there.

Yeah, I'd at the very least leave the tower standing so you don't lose Lex Luthor. Then clear out the station and repurpose the queue as a Fright Fest venue.

When the company said they were spending 1 billion dollars over two years, they were not joking. A BIG heap of that money will go towards bringing the legacy Six Flags parks up to Cedar Fair legacy park standards. That means MAJOR changes and enhancements and quickly.

it’ll be interesting to see just how they conquer the beast that is SFMM. Many have tried and failed. But not since the late 90’s has the park had this much financial support, and aren’t afraid to make big moves.

I love Superman, it’s always been a personal favorite of mine, and was the first ride I worked. But the ride has become a major headache for the park and they’ve wanted to reimagine it or get rid of it for years.

I would have fixed SFMM in a year, but that’s just me.

With SFMM, SFGAdv, and several other parks the previous ownership and management spent big money on expensive to maintain rides and gave them no budget to do that maintenance. Those parks have also seen attendance fall and fallen into disrepair park wide-- they need to cut out some of the high maintenance stuff in order to fix the basics in the parks and grow them again.

I mean....maybe

I used to go all the time then after Covid it was so bad I cut my pass...I got it again this year for the mazes

But I can tell you they need to focus on training, making the app work and entertainment

the latter will cost but the other two should have been standard for years. This is more on the management for letting basic things slip soooo bad that now it will cost to make better

But my hopes are if we do lose rides then they will invest at least in the family area and make the Road Runner Coaster into a REAL coaster like Big Thunder...themed and letting parents go with kids easier.
But at least for me until training improves...I rarely go on rides a walk on turns into 10+ mins because of how they are operating now

Minor Scrambler update...

Had a lot of other small park updates at my account, but the main points: there are multiple Hot Chocolate Bars set up throughout the park now (last year there was only one, and it was incredibly popular), access to the entire top of the mountain (Ninja, Superman) is closed off again (as tends to happen after Fright Fest), and while ops were not perfect today (mostly many late openings), it's notable that even on a day where the park was pretty dead, Batman, Viper, and WW all had two train ops, and TC had 3. Didn't get to check the other rides, but even on an overcast and dreary day, they had Jet Stream and Roaring Rapids open. Goliath and Apocalypse are closed for painting and maintenance.

A few other updates... Salem Bassoul, Richard Zimmerman and one other chief officer I didn't recognize, toured the park with our Park President Jeff Harris last week. It was so surreal seeing them face to face.

They are touring all of the parks, but had a particular interest in SFMM. They toured the sight of the 2026 project area, Whistlestop Park and the Underground. they also went to all of the backstage areas.

All this to say, 2025/26/27 will see some significant changes to the park's infrastructure.

I'll be there today to get some footage of the lights...I know the event is not until tomorrow but assume the lights will hopefully be on tonight

If not I can't make it back to the park until Sunday to see how they are running the Holiday event

Went back to the park a few hours before closing last night. I’m pleased to see the improvements they’re making! I haven’t seen Goliath look this good since it opened in 2000! Have they ever repainted it?

I got to do X2 (Still a fairly healthy 30 min wait at 4:30), Full Throttle, Drop of Doom, Twisted Colossus, and Wonder Woman in two hours! It’s great to go when there’s no lines!

The company that is painting it now repainted Goliath about 10 years ago or so.
