Not enough space for that ro realistically happen. Remember, Tatsu does curve around the Sky Tower in close proximity.

As for Lex Luthor, I hate the idea of losing the 400ft drop tower. I wish there was a way they could save it (and for the love all things themed... ENCLOSE. THE. DAMN. PATHWAY/LOAD AREA!!). Freefall/upward launch rides are simplistic & fun. The park needs it. But at the same time, it might need to be relocated to be within the actual DC Universe/Metropolis land(s).

I mean, it'd be pretty cool if we got a Flacon's Fury type drop tower instead....

Is that the one that tilts you forward before dropping?

If so, I'd rather not have extra gimmicks. This is Magic Mountain. Let's just keep it simple & easy to maintain

gonna argue a S&S Flip Tower ride, like what I think Qiddya is getting would be a hell of a icon attraction

if they can keep the existing tower (i have no idea how feasible that is), it'll be the tallest drop ride in the country. i think that brings plenty of juice.

Just a heads up for those playing at home

Currently the park is operating Friday-Monday. Closed Tuesday-Thursday.

However, once next month rolls around, the park will be operational everyday as of March 11th-April 28th.

From April 28th, it'll be back to closed Tues-Thurs until May 20th
, when everyday operations resume

Do you have any insight on what the rationale for this is? Why operate Mondays at all? Are there enough full-timers on staff that it makes for them to run four-day-a-week operations? Or does it have more to do with the pair of school holidays coming up this month?

Honestly. I'm not sure. When i worked there, it was during the Open 365 Day operations.

I understand the apocalypse made them revert back to their old ways of "weekends only" operations, but it still surprises me. Knotts is D.E.A.D. monday-friday, but they're still open everyday. I know Magic Mountain isn't exactly "nearby", but still.

If i had known it was open today, I would've dragged my butt up there. Now I gotta wait until I have a Monday off

Wouldn't it be cheaper to just leave the tower since LL is still working fine? Unless the tower itself is starting to reach the end of its service life?

I'm just Thankful its even open on Mondays...lol

I hope Knotts invests in this park.

Its clear that only going after Teens is not working since its literally like the only park besides Sesame Street Place that has to be closed this much of the year

1) Clean the Place up
2) More Training for TMs
3) Redo the Looney Tune area even if it can't all be themed make some more nice gardens in that areas at lease but that area feels straight up out of the 70s but in the worst ways.
4) Shows....my god we need a Kids show, some street music in the front of the park, something in the Gearswork Theater on Weekends/busy times like the summer, Spring break etc.
5) More Shade and Trees....I almost fainted last summer and I was drinking water and went on ZERO rides this was just from walking the park needs to find ways to cool people off when it gets hot...it gets hot.

I don’t think they’ll ever do kids shows at the park again. They just weren’t successful.

Then maybe make the stage area into an indoors cool off room where you can relax and watch Looney Tunes

But I just think MM will ever see success again without hitting more Demographics. Teens aren't cutting it and the place at least used to have a bad rep because of this.

I know it will also take some time but we are in a nothing year, this is when you start trying no new rides so you try some events and things to draw people in along with doing Project Star Dust like a Disneyland and improve the park look and train the staff more and get more then one coaster on the tracks....I don't know if it was just a glitch but I swear only one car was on Goliath when I went last and it just repened...that or it takes 5 mins for them to get a train going either way the park can do some things this year to start making guests feel more valued and spread the world that its taking steps to make it a fun place to go

They can't even fully invest in their own park. Let's not hope for the unrealistic

What was the point of merging if not to improve the parks?

lower overhead costs resulting in more money for executives and shareholders. that’s it. these companies are not altruistic, even if they provide crap we enjoy.

I get that but being only open 4 days a week?

That tells me your business needs a HUGE restructure to make real money your losing out on profits every day your not open.

I mean if the people making money are happy with this chump change then cool but MM at least needs some work to get to what it used to be...when I was growing up that place was packed now with 100 dollar APs you can barley get people to come inside

Also I know some will point out in the summer the park has lines..many of which are only 3 hour waits because of training and one car on the tracks its not because its that busy even most days

Many influencers speculated that Six Flags 2.0 would sell off or close underperforming parks, and concentrate their limited resources on the "star" parks. Instead, they are closing underperforming  rides in each park, and maybe replacing them with one huge coaster, or maybe not. The guest experience has not improved much, if it all. But hey, at least Six Flags and Cedar Fair don't have to compete for advertisers/sponsors anymore!

i'm certainly not going to argue that six flags (or cedar fair, for that matter) are knocking it out of the park with their operations. my assumption is that corporate feels the additional revenue it would bring in with improved operations, more operating hours and a better guest experience do not justify the increased costs.

those costs aren't just paying salaries or electricity bills. to your point @Jerroddragon, the entire chain is in dire need of a root and branch retool. that is expensive in both time and money. it requires the kind of focus and dedication that we just haven't seen from six flags or cedar fair in quite some time (if ever). i am skeptical that these parks will ever be as good as we remember them, mostly because i don't think this massive chain is incentivized to try.

That would have applied to Kingda Ka and Zumanjaro-- both are coming down.

With two parks sharing a market like Knott's and MM, or Dorney and Great Adventure, or Kings Dominion and SFA they may have an opportunity here. Passholders with access to both parks may see the value of both parks but in different ways. They can market one as "thrills" and one as "family". One can operate everyday the other can be weekend only operations so the guests have access to one park all the time and the other only at certain times, even alternating day to day or week to week when it's "off-peak" and demand is low. If during off-peak times both parks were open four or five days a week with different dark days, they serve the market with something available at all times, but cost savings.
