Horrible picture I know. But the other magic mountain portion of the sign has been removed.

It is almost finished. I'm happy that it's almost finished. I hope they'll get the "Hurricane Harbor" font on the top drum. Maybe the bottom drum could have a small circular LED screen.

Yet another (short) visit to the park, and yet again:
  • X2 and Wonder Woman were ready to go with Diamond Elite Early Entry
  • Batgirl was out for M&G right at park opening by DC Universe
  • Staff did trivia and Front of Line passes for Early Entry guests before being admitted to the park
  • Staff all around are a lot more friendlier and talkative to guests than they ever have been
In all honesty, there's still a few hiccups. Many rides do go down (this morning, it was Drop of Doom, Goliath, JL, Riddler, and Ninja). At the same time, they do try to get them back up relatively quickly. But it does seem strange so many rides do keep closing off & on during the day. Still, I remember it wasn't that long ago that I would routinely find X2, WW, Crazanity, Goliath, and more not ready when the park opened. So this is definitely a step in the right direction.

Also, they are getting much more diligent about scanning mugs for refills. Not a bad thing, just be aware.

Steampunk bathroom update:

As far as their 2025 events list, not only did Scream Break disappear, but so did Flavors of the World. I know it wasn't on par with other food events, but I did enjoy it enough, so it's a bit of a bummer that's gone. If nothing else, it never had much of a line, so it was easy to get food... but I also suppose that's the same reason it's not returning, lol.

Not bringing back Scream Break is a misstep on their part. It was a unique offering that filled the haunt void. Hopefully it's just a temporary removal due to the active construction & park upkeep currently going on. That's the lie I'm convincing myself with

I was going to go the past 2 Fridays but laziness took hold. And now that it's doing the daily operations for spring break, I want to venture up there, BUT it's hinting at rain this week.

Screamscape with a bit of an interesting rumor wrt samurai Summit
From screamscape

???? - Samurai Summit Renovation - (3/10/2025) Some interesting rumors have been sent our way regarding the future development of Six Flags Magic Mountain. Keep in mind that these are just wild rumors at this point, with nothing close to being verified… however… I’d be remiss if I didn’t admit that I had heard most of these rumors before in one form or another over the past few years.
The control and direction of the Six Flags chain has been itself under a wild ride over the past decade, falling under the guidance of several different leaders, each with their own vision of how they wanted to do things, as well as different priorities of which parks would be more in focus than others. Now with the latest political shift complete, finalizing the merger of Six Flags and Cedar Fair, it isn’t strange at all that some of the older rumors may be returning to light as the new leadership calling the shots is more known for their advanced planning efforts than the previous ones.
So with that in mind, I’m hearing that the focus of the park, following the opening of the 2026 roller coaster, will be to tackle a redesign of the park’s Samurai Summit district, which essentially would affect all the rides at the top of the mountain itself. The good news is that I’ve heard nothing at all about making any changes to Tatsu, but it is sounding like everything else up there would be under review.
This includes the closed Superman: The Escape (aka: Escape From Krypton) and I’m hearing that it may be very unlikely that Superman would ever reopen again. The one thing Superman has going for it is that the park does not want to lose the Lex Luthor: Drop of Doom ride attached to the sides of the Superman tower. Currently Lex Luthor is now the world record holder for being the tallest vertical drop tower ride in the world, offering a dizzying 415 foot drop to the ground below. While Lex Luthor’s height was surpassed by Zumanjaro at Six Flags Great Adventure, the demolition of the Kingda Ka tower that it was attached to has returned the record to Magic Mountain, or at least until the Sirocco Tower at Six Flags Qiddiya opens. I’ve been hearing that the difference in the tower structures and how these individual rides were built means that it is possible for the tower itself and Lex Luthor to stay in place, while still removing the launch tracks and station for the Superman coaster.
In a previous announcement, but under the old management, it was confirmed that the park was looking to reopen the closed Skytower at the top of the mountain, so hopefully this will still fall into the efforts of the future Samurai Summit renovation plans, along with renovations to other existing facilities on the mountain, and is also rumored to include the creation of an all new thrill ride.
There are rumors of another loss for Samurai Summit however, with an increasing number of whispers claiming that Ninja’s lifespan may be coming to an end. The coaster which opened in 1988 was the West Coast’s only Arrow Suspended coaster and was extremely popular for a long time, featuring a winding layout hidden by trees along the mountainside. Over the years most of those trees were removed (especially after one fell on the ride) and Ninja also suffered a little damage over the years from various Earthquakes, but it still managed to survive all these years relatively intact. If the rumors are to be believed, the long term planning efforts of the park to build the rumored Vekoma “thrill glider” coaster in 2026 is thought to be meant as a replacement for Ninja. If so, 2025 could be your last year to experience Ninja… or they might be able to keep it around for 2026 as well. Unlike how we’ve seen this year’s crop of closed rides just closed and demolished without warning, the early word is that the park is planning to give fans a healthy advanced warning as to when they plan to close Ninja for good.
Again… all rumors… but if you visit the park, do yourself a favor and get a few good rides in on Ninja while you still can. Nothing lasts forever…

The Ninja rumor is true. The Superman/ Lex Luthor rumor is interesting.

Kind of glad they're looking at preserving the drop tower, similar to what happened with Tower of Terror in DreamWorld.

I wonder if that means there might be a new "Superman" project on the horizon, or if they start pulling away from licensing IP's for permament attractions...

They should gut the track and open two more lifts facing the middle of the park while theming the backside to LexCorp Tower, lol.

Would not be shocked if that ends up becoming a future project... at least with someone like S&S or something

Is it due to rain or cool temperatures? I'm nowhere close to CA but the weather didn't look that bad.

Por que no los dos? It's rainy and cold enough that next to nobody is showing up to the park today.

If only the Cali parks were run like the UK. If it rains, they keep them open anyway. They basically have to because it’s so wet and cold over there. I rode Nemesis at Alton Towers when it was full on raining. While it was painful, it was FUN.

True, but I'd bet UK parks are better built for rain. Parks in SoCal, not so much, where rain is a much less frequent event (or, at least, it was). Just saw a post from yesterday that their new parking lot was flooded with rain. And maybe a year or so ago, there were viral pics of Disneyland's Main Street flooding.

I'm pretty sure the rain is the primary reason. I attended Scream Break last year when temperatures were not far off from today, and it was overcast but the rain stayed north, and the park and most coasters were open. Enjoyed a fun ride on X2; loved seeing the bank of low clouds to the north on the lift hill. Twisted Colossus, however, is diminished in cold imo; the high five on the green side was shockingly almost forceless
