Magic Mountain is throwing its 20-coaster record out the window, but with how operations and reliability have been in recent years, it's probably for the best. This will be a nice refresher of the land. I wish they would bring back the redwood as part of these plans or some kind of kids' splash pad. But they neeeeeeeed to address the samurai summit that area is all but abandoned, except for the ninja, which is on its last legs.

Notice there were no mazes up there for Fright Fest this year. Almost as if they planned for this.

Um, Willoughy's Mansion has something to say about that. It was open, along with the scare zone up the hill.

But to your point, there was no Sewer of Souls, so it was down a maze.

Honestly, it about the last year or so, operations and reliability have drastically improved. But I do agree they probably have more coasters than they need, and I don't mind losing some for improved reliability and ease of maintenance.

I also agree that I think we all thought that Samurai Summit would be the next area to get refurbed, being the last major area of the park that hasn't been yet. But I think we all forgot about the kiddie area, haha. Still, does make me wonder what will happen up there, if anything.

Oh right I legit forgot about Willoughby’s. Still, that maze has been there since 2011. Heard rumbling about this past year being its last so point still remains.

Well, with Superman, laughing Dragon, the old skyway station, the magic pagoda, and the tower all being abandoned, and ninja not exactly being in the prime of its life, this land needs a breath of life much more than the fine kids' lands did

Confirmed, coaster delayed until 2027.

The Samurai Summit project is still very much in the works, but of course is delayed due to the other delay lol.

And as anyone could have guessed as soon as the merger happened, the plan is to re crown Cedar Point as the coaster leader.

Wouldn't the most coasters record go to Energylandia, not Cedar Point?

On Looney tunes land, I think its for the best

The land needs a refresh and while it sucks to lose some rides....at least when I go there is no one on those rides so makes sense like with fright fest to offer less but better experiences

Hopefully this draws more families and we get more shows in the Looney Tunes theater....I think its the one thing missing from the holidays and halloween....no Looney tunes shows. So hopefully this will help get enough people for more shows through out the year and I think thememing being updated will make the land feel just much better

The no new coaster next year makes sense from what I've read here, sorry to those waiting for that ride

The Ninja area does need a redo as well...just sucks we will lose the best family coaster in the park for a while

What would those possibly consist of? I know in the article regarding CP attendance, they said it would be 4 years until a new one...

The next coaster is a family one, from Vekoma. The combo of TT2 and Siren's Curse gave the park their highest attendance in years.

CP has had 3 coaster projects in 3 years while they are subtracting from legacy SF. Pretty obvious what's about to happen.

It's all good though, id much prefer SFMM begin to redefine themselves as a more well rounded offering say like...the Kings Island of the west coast.

Back to Ninja for a moment, when I mused on Bluesky about the state of Samurai Summit, Screamscape replied that he thought the removal of Ninja was contingent on the new coaster opening. With it now officially delayed, Ninja may have gotten a bit of a reprieve.

So are both the next coasters that are coming rumored to be on the top of the hill?

I guess I dont know where the coaster for the old Golden Bear theater would load but would it be loading from the top of the hill or down where the theater used to be?

Hate to break it to you, but they aren't worried about making Cedar Point the coaster capital. Magic Mountain needs a rebrand and a face lift. They have also shown that they are not able to operate all the rides the currently have so not surprising they are removing some. If people want this park to survive and thrive this is what needs to be done. Clean it up and just make it a nice place to be at. This kind of update is going to be great for families as parents want to be in a nice area while their kids are out having fun.

Agreed

This year them cutting back on Fright Fest showed me when less is more

Its not for everyone but Six flags just has had issues for years because of this.

For me these moves are in the right direction and can build back up the brand and hopefully in 10ish or less years the park will become something more like it was in the 90s/2000's

If SFMM can up their family attendance then that’d be huge! Always crazy seeing so many strollers at Knott’s vs SFMM.

Park is also next to Santa Clarita city with a huge family presence. But, the park is still seen as an inferior product there. Going to take a lot to change that image.

But I think it can be done

When I show people the park they are surprised the shows don't suck, like many are happy with the three events we got this year at MM and the entertainment team should be proud of what they have done to help make people want to come back into the park

Next up is making it where families want to come back and redoing two lands is not a bad idea if done right

Six Flags is the park, I've seen improve the most of the past few years, they have come along way since after covid when things were just...in my opinion just awful.

Did you read my entire post? I’m beyond okay with the move. I was warning those that DO care to what is coming.

I’d be fine if they never built a roller coaster ever again lol

I could also live without Scream, Ninja, Goliath, Riddler’s Revenge, Viper, Gold Rusher and X2.
