I'm a little confused on the time period this ride is set in. Are going to Skull Island with Erin Ryder's Myth Explorer Team to find more about the 8th Wonder Expedition Company and Kong (she did say at the end I need to come back with more crew) or are we being transported to the 30's and going with the 8WEC? The Myth Explorer thing seems to be being marketed beyond getting the fans hyped and pushed toward the GP (Erin Ryder has billboards and everything) so if I'm confused on this, you can bet the GP will be.

The ride is set in the 30's with the 8WEC. I imagine the average guest will have no knowledge of the Myth Explorer marketing, so hopefully there won't be too much confusion.

From what I understand from the characters and marketing, we are in the 1930's, travelling with the 8th Wonder Expedition Company on an expedition to Skull Island. The "Myth Explorer" series seems to be geared towards introducing the mythos of Kong, and vaguely hinting at the story of 8th Wonder. I do see how it's possible that it would confuse the general public, though I'm sure the theming within the queue will make them clear on the setting.

I hope so, nothing can immerse you into a ride and story like physical sets and AAs

Until Kong, the Whomping Willow was the best AA in the park in you ask me =)

Try and tell me that part didn't give you a wow this is really happening moment!

I don't think I've actually seen the Whomping Willow move, though it has been a while since I've ridden FJ. What exactly does it do?

Ohhh, I remember it a little now. I couldn't see it in a POV video because the lighting is too low. Surely the Sorting Hat would count more as an AA?

There are several AAs in Forbidden Journey.
The dragon, dementors, Willow, Hat, plants in the queue, and I believe there are some AA spiders.

I about broke my face from smiling the first time I saw the W.Willow. That video clip of Kong did the same thing.

I haven't visited the parks since 2011, but that clip of Kong has me real anxious to go back.

I was joking. Maybe semi serious though =)

Its just a great animated physical effect, mostly due to proximity. I personally think its better than the dragon, who's too questionably slow i think.

She looks wrinkly.
Maybe look into some of those remedies I keep seeing on infomercials.

Oh i think Tiffany is pathetic, hands down the least climatic scene of a ride that is set up for a master piece. Thank god for the drop to save the moment.

One of the reasons i love Creature Tech getting close with UC. JPRA is in major need of refurb, and not this half ass refurb they do every few years.

( I know i"m certainly in the minority on this one)

JPRA problem is the fact the AA skin is exposed to water/sun/and temperature which damages it a lot faster than anything else. Creature Tech isn't prepared for that as if you look at all their AA developments and puppets, they are all for inside and relatively dry environments.

Worst offender is the Ultrasaur imo. That neck is so obviously mechanical with all the very visible joints. Meanwhile at Creature Tech...

Plenty of other examples as well.

The TRex location is a prime AA spot, that what makes it so aggravating haha

Flew of the handle there for minute but I'm back now, horray Kong!

I never knew the neck of Tiff was fabric. It makes sense in that the raptor encounter puppets use fabric too.

I hope she really enjoys it when she gets to go on it. :)

She thinks everything is eating her. That is about 90% of her bad dreams. Good news is no one ate her last night, so the clip didn't scare her into nightmares. Looks like when we go in June (as long as softs are happening) she will be riding it.

What I love about IOA so much is that the majority of rides there are just packed to the brim with really awesome AAs and physical effects. Universal CAN do them insanely well, glad Kong is just another example of that
