Read something about this too yesterday, apparently Universal's response is that the guest caused the injury by putting their hand where it ought to not be; seems plausible to me, at Ripsaw I often encounter people putting their hands in the water, and not just at unload.

I read Universal didn't respond.

I have been in two newspaper reports and both of them where factually wrong, so...

I must say on this ride it really has never enamoured itself to me. Consider it a disappointment overall. The animatronic is really cool and the bat scene is good too but as others have mentioned it is all a bit abrupt and doesn't flow very well. It definitely could be something for the chopping block in years to come and I wouldn't miss it. Should also state I am a fan of Kong in general, just wish there was more. Like a boat ride from the Skull Island film but maybe JP also being a boat ride prohibits this. Could have gone great if they demolished the FF stage and put a big boat ride in there as I feel USF misses a water attraction.

I think we eventually get a JW ride here. Not in near future, but I bet this is expensive for Universal and it’s rumored after this that trackless rides are scrapped at the resort for now. No reason to think after Lost Continent and Toon Lagoon that this gets replaced. Heck, maybe it goes with TL!

Yes. It's still has one of the park's longest daily lines, even though it has high capacity. Lines are as long as they were during it's first and second years. I'm guessing lots of general public tourists like the attraction.

You either connect with the 360 scene or you don't...luckily there's several Top 10 coasters and dark rides within walking distance lol

However, this is a ride that everyone can ride and I appreciate Universal doing that, as that's one of their major flaws

Or... it's the only E-ticket attraction at IOA that doesn't feature significant spinning/motion or get you wet, and the whole family can ride.

I recently had an interesting experience riding this with a friend from out of town.

We rode at night, right before closing. The 'bus' was packed to the brim, which is rare in my experience with the ride thus far. Luckily, we got seated in the sweet spot (middle of the row -- no screen edges visible).

Cut to unload. The whole bus had erupted into cheers. My friend even called it his favorite ride of the day, despite going on most of the marquee attractions at the resort.

I've never been too high on Reign of Kong, but I've had a change of heart about this ride. I think it gets swept under the rug due to the timing of its opening in 2016, which was around the time when 'screen fatigue' was especially rampant. It also just didn't seem like something anyone wanted in IOA (I still hate its placement at the edge of Jurassic Park, and I dismiss the notion that it's an 'island' of its own). But now, after two world-class coasters being added to the park, I appreciate this ride much more. I think it utilizes its screens intelligently, and its physical sets, though few, are pretty impressive. If I had to nitpick, I think it could have used one more physical set, but it still succeeds in its goal of making you feel like you've been caught in the middle of a prehistoric deathmatch. Also, I like how the Kong animatronic could literally swallow me whole.

I think this is a great crowd-pleaser in a park that prides itself on top-thrill experiences. For the modest wait time it usually posts, I think it's hard to find a ride that delivers so much bang for your buck.

For best results, ride at night.

As you approach the load station, there is a sign for single riders coming in from an open door, but whenever I ask the TMs up front, nobody ever knows how to access this single rider line. Anyone know?

Sometimes it’s open, you’ll see a sign as you enter the standby queue. It’s very hit or miss in my experience - like 70% of the time it’s closed.

You enter the regular queue and where you turn right to go to base camp, you go straight, there should be a board there that says "single riders" as well as a crew member. Mind you I haven't worked at Kong since I moved back to Ripsaw, but single riders should pretty much be always open, staffing permitting of course, and even when lacking staff, the standby greeter should be able to escort you to it. There is a caveat though, and that is when the ride is running at reduced capacity then they won't use single riders.

Is there any backstory to Kate in the queue that I've missed or are we supposed to know who she is when we hit the first scene?

pretty sure she dated two of the first dudes we see, and it ended badly.

my daughter noticed that when the first problem happens the two guys just take off like gangbusters, leaving her to fend for herself.

that’s our current theory, anyway. But we tend to make our own backstories when we ride stuff a lot so……

I know this thread has been dead, but this ride has not been going outdoors since May. Anybody know what the deal is and has anyone heard anything about when they might fix it. Kinda getting worried since it’s been so long.

Given what's been going on with JPRA, this is also concerning to me.

Might sound weird, but are the giant doors on Kong in disrepair? I can't recall if the doors will just remain open if there's an issue with them.

Having another attraction (that is directly next to JPRA) going down a similar path of disrepair would be pretty concerning. Especially since it's only seven years old.

I don’t recall it going outside when I rode in March, though I could be misremembering.

The outside scene is one of the extra touches that elevates this attraction.

Excising it is not acceptable. Fix whatever it is that needs fixing.

I know, it's Kong, but I really hope one day this is booted for either a whole new land or JP expansion. It's really the one dud attraction in IoA alongside Cat.

Counterpoint: they are both quite good attractions.
