True, but I have this feeling that Universal is now looking to licence other brands and franchises. Apart from Despicable Me, there is not much in house (that is family friend and appeals to an older demographic). If they can go bigger, why not?

I wish that Illumination would hurry up with the non-Minion films, such as the new original films or the new Dr Seuss movies.

That, and I'd love to see Universal fix it's ties with DreamWorks.

Another observation from recent photos: there is still shorter steel framing wedged between the Nuclear Power Plant and Springfield Penitentiary, meaning the foreground of the Springfield backdrop including Burns Manor has yet to be seen. Glad to see they're adding depth in spite of the two-dimensional cut-outs.

Humorously enough, on last Sunday's Simpsons episode they head to a Disneyland knock-off and the wonderful Universal Starway got an animated shoutout:

The episode was kind of lame as I'm a bit of a Simpsons snob (they really need to just end it), but that did get me to smirk. And starting soon Springfield will actually greet you at the top of the Starway which is hilarious.

See, originally I was against Springfield coming to Hollywood because I imagined it would be a clone of what was in Orlando, which to be honest, I think looks cheap and very 2D (which is the last thing USH needed). But I knew once I saw the concept art that we were dealing with a whole different animal. And this proves it even more. I love the different layers and details and the depth and forced perspective, etc.

I thought it would look ridiculous to have facades stacked on each other like in the art, but once you see it from the ground, the perspective makes it seem like the buildings are far and behind the front row.

It looks like the Springfield Power Plant entrance will be for team members only considering the lock/keypad above the door handle. Cletus' Chicken Shack is coming along as well. I wonder what the white pipes in the dirt and the adjacent hole are for.
