Sure. But casual fans probably have no idea who Admiral Ackbar actually is.

Point is, Disney shouldn't be taking credit for something that's already been created.

Actually, I'm a very casual fan, and I knew who General Ackbar was the second I heard his name, while not every fan has played those games. However, you are right, Disney shouldn't take credit for something they did not create.

I hate to be "that guy" , but there actually isn't anything called "skytrooper".... Although, it arguably at least does sound the same as a clone jet trooper. Most likely the skytrooper is something in Lucasfilm's concept bins that was never used, as there's no doubt this ride was developed in close conjunction with Lucasfilm and had access to use some unused concepts.

Although you may be right, they could have also just changed the name to something more simple.

Sure, it's not their official name, but A LOT of the fans called the Skytroopers. If they're something completely different(which I doubt they will be) I'll retract my complaint.

I hope he doesn't say it. It'd be lame, cheap, and derivative.

But this is Disney in the 21st century, and that's basically their way of doing things, so...

I too will be dissapointed if he doesn't say that. Its the best line

But it's all sounding pretty good so far, can't wait to have a go! Hopefully the story will all fit together well and there won't be too many plot holes...

At this weekend’s Toy Fair in New York, Hasbro unveiled its line-up of toys that will launch in May when Star Tours: The Adventures Continue opens at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Disney Imagineer Tom Fitzgerald recently revealed several characters that will be featured in the updated version of the popular Star Wars-based ride and now Hasbro has taken that announcement one step further with a first look at several of the characters, plus a few more, as they’ll appear in the attraction.

According to StarWars.com, the figures will be available in two Disney-exclusive sets called the “Star Tours Ambush Pack” and the “Star Tours Travel Agency Pack,” both being released in May.

The “Ambush Pack” will contain Darth Vader on some sort of hovering platform, Boba Fett, and two skytroopers. Given the pack’s name, it’s likely that the new Starspeeder 3000 vehicles, which will transport riding guests through the Star Wars universe, will be “ambushed” at some point by these characters during the ride.

The “Travel Agency Pack” features known characters C-3PO (the ride’s new pilot), AC-38 (Ace), and Aly San San as well as two other characters being revealed for the first time. The first appears to be a luggage porter droid, holding aircraft directional wands, with luggage accessories. The other seems to be a Star Tours variation of a Utai, which has previously been released as an action figure. It’s likely these droids and characters will be seen in the queue and early stages of the attraction, before the above-mentioned ambush occurs.

On a basic level, I'll agree that they are not enough different to garner much excitement over a "new design". But, these skytroopers and the clone jet troopers are not the same. (My Star Wars nerd colors are going to bleed strong here). First, those skytroopers have much more of the Stormtrooper design than the Clone Troopers (see the helmets and the fact that the storyline on STII is between Episodes 3 & 4, which is stormtrooper timeline). Second, the "tubes" from the helmets which are normally seen on the space-pilot variety of troopers --- so it seems these guys are outfitted for space conditions, while clone jet troopers are atmospheric.

Jesus, who cares really . Bottom line: They're nothing more than stormtroopers with a couple of accessories and gray stripes on their legs and helmets. Nothing to get too excited about. But they are technically a new variant design.

I wish I had never heard of Gungans in the first place. Sure when I was little I liked them, then I realized that they destroyed Star Wars.
