Disney showed a new clip today of ST2 at Celebration V. From Disney Parks Blog:
Last year, Disney Parks fans learned that “The Adventures Continue” with the return of a new Star Tours attraction in both California and Florida in 2011. Earlier today at the Star Wars Celebration V fan event, Star Wars fans caught a first glimpse of a new video that will appear in the queue area of the reimagined Star Tours attraction in Disneyland park and Disney’s Hollywood Studios next year. The video produced by Star Tours is a new “commercial” that shows one of their exciting getaway travel packages.

Today we’re also giving our Disney Parks Blog readers a peek at the video before it appears in the queue next year. While Star Tours now offers flights to new destinations, we cannot confirm that you will travel to any of the destinations shown in this video . . .

Since many Disney Parks fans know the new Star Tours attraction will take place between the two sets of Star Wars Trilogies, and that Star Tours can now take guests to more places in the Star Wars galaxy, what do you think of this video? Is there a destination you hope to visit on the new attraction when it opens next year?

They were being extremely tight-lipped at the panel. This video was all they gave, at the very end of the panel. They had Q&A with the audience, but they wouldn't answer anything at all about it.

Anthony Daniels (C3PO in the films) was on the panel, and was very involved and funny. They did reveal that he just recorded audio for Star Tours 2 last week --- but that was no real surprise.

One really funny moment (to me, at least) in the panel was when the Disney guys actually got booed. Someone in the audience asked if we would ever be seeing an Indy ride at WDW. The answer that caused the boos: "You guys have DINOSAUR." BOOOOOOO!!

Interesting rumors on ST2 from Screamscape:

I’ve got a few new interesting items about Star Tours 2 this week. The interesting new rumor is that despite the latest video promoting tours to Alderan, Endor and Bespin, I’m told that none of these locations will be in the actual ride.
Also, we’ve been told for some time now that the ride will feature randomly inserted sequences to make it so you experience a new ride every time, in new locations. However I’ve also heard that they are looking into adding special “easter egg” versions of certain scenes that will play up to various Holidays. For example… visit the park during the Christmas season and you just may fly past a Wookie wearing a Santa hat.

When I saw the promo video premier at CV, obviously my first inclination was that these planets shown would be featured in the ride. But after hearing this rumor it does make sense that we may not see these planets in the ride -- since that would be a good reason to give them at least a "shout out" in the queue video. If not used in the ride itself, at least you would see them somewhere.

I don't think I'm feeling the idea of the holiday versions. At all. Leave holidays out of Star Wars, it just doesn't make sense. (Ahem..... Star Wars Holiday Special, anyone?) And yes, I understand Star Wars is fantasy and there's a lot about it that doesn't "make sense", like a giant dog flying a space ship. But c'mon, at least the fantasy follows the rules set up for the Star Wars galaxy. Why would our holidays exist in a galaxy far far away?

It's official. Star Tour had it's last tour to Endor tonight. The attraction will now begin it's conversion into Star Tours 2.0.

Now we wait for what will hopefully be a vast improvement to an already great attraction.

I'm excited!

Agreed, I'm really wondering how much of the queue line will be changing.

 True!

But the rest of the queue line wasn't so bad, hopefully its just a few cosmetic upgrades here and there and no stupid queue line games like Disney has been doing at all of its attractions lately.
