I wonder if they actually get this open late 2019 if Universal might try pushing up the opening of Nintendo for the same time?

I don't know if Universal can. They won't be starting construction for at least another 6 months. And even that is questionable since capacity will still be an issue after Fallon. They may only close half of kidzone until F&F opens in 2018. The tech being used for Mario Kart alone sounds pretty new that I don't see them being able to build and test a state of the art ride in such a short time period along with the other rides being created for Nintendo. I think 2020 is the earliest we will see Nintendo open. And I am thinking June opening at that.

I mean Japan was announced for 2020 and they are starting construction soon on that, right?

So a little look on the latest with SWL. Looks like demolition has progressed nicely:

And some Bioreconstruct latest:

From Bioreconstruct:

LMA now 99.9% gone. A lone concrete wall still stands.

Progress is progress, and that's good... even if it feels like we're watching it in slow motion.

Well I don't know how fair that is to the current pace of work. The past 2 weeks have been light years faster than the entire 2 years prior.

We basically sat and watched nothing happen ever since BLT closed in Sept 2014 and then SoA and LMA in April.

Since August 20th, just about everything has come down.

Is your calculation based off gross tonnage or sq. ft.?

Totally. I don't disregard that at all. I hope they're able to keep something close to this pace up (within reasonable limits). It's just that the totality of the project - from the closure of the Backlot Tour two years ago - has moved much slower than I would have liked. Think of what they could have accomplished by now if they had their act together back in 2014!

I think that what is irritating is that they seem to move glacially on all projects. Demolition really shouldn't have taken this long, should it? I'm no construction guy but it seems to be really slow. Even New Fantasyland was a very slow build. Another thing that seems weird (to me) is that the two construction plots for SWL and TSL look to be huge but they are only adding four rides. I'm not so certain that it qualifies as efficient land usage.

It is strange that a park so lacking in rides would not make better use of these spaces.

Yeah, especially TSL, kind of a waste of a large plot of land in a park that is exceptionally small to begin with. TSL probably only warranted a 4 or 5 acre lot considering the C level of their two rides ( new designed Slinky a C+, D- at best). At least SWL should have plenty to do besides the two rides.

I really lack the energy searching for updates for star wars land. Obviously searching star wars land brings me back loads of results from Disneyland as it has already been started which you have to filter through and searching Hollywood Studios is even worse haha. Obviously posts on twitter tend to be reliant on the text they are accompanied with and not everyone uses the relevant words to make them easy to find. Hopefully as there is more progress on site the generalization of the site being referred to as starwarsland or toystoryland will hopefully help.

Just look at @Bioreconstruct or @Mickeyxtreme on twitter. They do a lot of updates on Universal and WDW almost daily.

Yeah they are my usual source of info for my daily Volcano Bay searching but then again I normally find their stuff via a general twitter search for Volcano bay, not proving so easy with SWL.

Here is a video I just came across, not much info but a little, most of the inside park footage will mean more with the regulars that are familiar with attractions/layout. I struggle with this type of footage as I have only ever been twice!

Another Bioreconstruct photo from yesterday:

I will call these demolition updates rather than construction, again never too much to see really but appreciated people put up what footage they can capture from the ground. The videos below are accompanied with the web links too as these are website articles that also contain some pictures and a bit to read too:

Sounds like you are feeling a little discouraged by the lack of photos to post. With WDW that is normal in that they not only own the land where the demo/construction is happening but all the land outside so they have more control than Universal or SeaWorld does.

I just want to thank you for all the time and effort you do put into bringing these updates here. Saves me so much in my quest to keep abreast of developments.

Again, Thanks for your work
