They started testing out single rider

You would skip all the Q up until the interrogation room

Hope it comes to Disneyland as well

Good to see a Mandalorian update coming to the Falcon.

I wonder if this will be a permanent replacement, or if the goal is to let it run interrupted for a bit and then rotate the two missions back and forth.

They certainly should be able to rotate/alternate. Or have the Mando version playing on two of the carousels, and the original playing on the other two (there are four, aren't there?).

Will they do that? I'd be surprised. They'd probably have to rewrite the preshow to be vague enough to fit either version.

The present Mission feels old already, probably because it was weak to begin with. A really good Mission would elevate this attraction.

I don't think the general public would be happy if they got the mission based on Solo over the mission based on The Mandalorian. And would most people on first time vacations choose the Hondo mission over the Mando one?

Yeah, I agree. That's sort of inherently one of the problems with this ride is that no one knows or cares about Hondo except the big time star wars geeks. They also don't necessarily do much to make him endearing like Star Tours did with Captain Rex.

The public wants something they know which is Mandalorian & Grogu. Why do they have the Millennium Falcon? Who knows! But not many will care either.

Good move Disney, such a quick/easy way to reinvigorate a ride that should have been repeatable. Ride system is fine, but the storyline is just not great.

I’d bet Hondo remains the MC, and then Mando either crashes our mission or we help him out with his.

I do think Hondo’s presence will be improved by having someone to talk to on the ride besides us; a crucial part of why Rex/C3-PO work is that they have banter with the other characters as they appear on the little side screen.

For changing the pre show, remember the final video you see before the ride with the mission details from Hondo is live action so they could easily swap it out depending on the mission.

Whats also a thought it was always rumoured there was more than 1 mission from the outset, Im curious what happened to them as the mando one is gonna be brand new from the ground up

Interesting indeed! Wish they'd figure out a way to rework the Engineer seat, though. It really is the most boring seat in the house, ESPECIALLY when riding with strangers.

Do they let small groups get their own cabin during slow periods? It seems like the ride is a a big enough people eater to allow that.

We had an entire cabin on a moderate crowd day in June at WDW.

I agree. As a parent of two kids, and as "the dad" often taking many kids including my nieces to the park, I have never been a pilot (because, obviously, I'm going to let the kids have that fun). ...And I'm the one who has been obsessed with the Millennium Falcon since 1977! The kids really don't care, some don't know what it's called!

The "original sin" of this attraction design is having dramatically tiered qualities of experiences for guests. It's kind of mind-boggling that this was approved as it is so obvious that if you give guest A a great experience and guest B an objectively worse experience, the attraction will be overall perceived based on the guest B experience.

A negative experience is more "searing" (leaves a deeper scar, lasting impression) than a positive experience within an intermittent reinforcement reward structure. That's because humans are jealous and highly tuned into injustcie! And it's why a restaurant or Airbnb needs 10 positive reviews to outweigh a negative review, because as eager as we are for a positive experience, we are particularly vigilant against negative experiences. This is all just psychology and game theory, which the Imagineers should have considered.

In addition to the well-established issues with the gunner and engineer spots being boring... one time I rode as a solo fifth in the engineer seat (so 2-2-1) and at the end we scored 99th percentile - up until that point I was too busy pushing buttons to have any concept of how the pilots and gunners were doing and completely missed the flying/shooting masterclass that apparently was going on in front of me.

It's amazing how they created something that looks like a team effort but in reality is so siloed.

It will never happen, but if they were to replace the Falcon with an E-ticket Star Wars coaster of some sort….in wouldn’t be mad at all.

More likely, they won’t. In that case, add some randomized missions. Please. That Mando update can’t come soon enough.

That's what I was hoping would replace Muppet Courtyard but alas. I don't think the star wars coaster will ever be a thing unfortunately

There's still an expansion slot there for the coaster without messing with MF.

Whether it gets built is another sotry.

Whether they replace Smuggler's Run or have expansion space, a Cosmic Rewind quality Star Wars coaster would be the attraction that would finally make Galaxy's Edge worth it. Not that RotR isn't amazing, I love it, but the land is HUGE and without another top-tier E-ticket, it's too much land and not enough fun.

IIRC they were rumors for some sort of bespoke SW land for DLP (main park) themed around Mando complete with some sort of bike coaster on par with Hagrid's.

Back on Topic, I was looking at the backstage areas for both versions of SWGE, while there doesn't appear to be room for a Cosmic Rewind esq coaster when a gravity building is factored in, you could still do a decent sized E ticket dark ride.

If you used the Infinity Defense ride system, you could squeeze something like that in behind smugglers run on both coasts.
