So help me out here. Why is Jim Hill not to be taken seriously?

I struggle with that too, and it is probably because there are a bunch of "insiders" all over the internet hearing something else. But Jim is not a bad source for Disney information. He has a good track record, he talks to people within the Disney corporation, and he goes to media events for Disney and Universal. Sure he got a Ferris wheel wrong. It happens. Not everything Jim or any "insider" will say on a forum, podcast, etc. is 100% correct. However, he tells some great stories, and I love listening to him.

On that note, believe what you want to believe.

We all get things wrong, and sometimes plans change, so it's all just a crap shoot.

Hyperion Wharf is the ultimate example of plans suddenly (2 years later) changing.

I'd be down for a detailed Whomping Willow spinner. Now a Chamber Of Secrets walkthrough not that much. I'd rather see a dark ride of some sort.

There is a Chamber of Secrets dark ride. It's called Forbidden Journey.

Personally, if we're getting ANOTHER 3D attraction at Disney, I mean I guessssss...but it would be so much better if they were to use the same technology for the Troncycle Coaster and use that and make a Speeder coaster, so its like we're riding on Speeder in the forest of Endor...just makes the most sense and the ride that fanboys would go crazy for, because really, 2 3d attractions in the same land...meh

Feels like we're thinking too small here. Why replace several attractions when you could expand directly east of Star Tours into the parking lot? Sure some attractions need replacement or upgrades, but the park is small compared to Epcot and Magic Kingdom, perhaps even Animal Kingdom. Seems logical to increase capacity and make the park physically bigger. The current rumors don't do justice to the massive IP that star wars is. I mean with a movie every year starting in 2015 and a cartoon next year. I just can't see how this won't turn into a large, multiple phase, just short of a gate expansion.

Because building new infrastructure is more expensive than reusing old infrastructure is cheap.

Disney doesn't care about giving Star Wars its due, only increasing the park's profit.

Sadly, I think your right. I'm just spoiled by how high Universal raised the bar.

Well, in all reality Universal did a lot of the same for the first Potter. It clearly wasn't enough and reused a lot of Lost Continent's structure. Same with Minion Mayhem, Springfield, and Transformers. None were really expansions of the park. Diagon Alley will be.

I don't fault Disney for resuing areas for Star Wars. Where I fault them is seemingly going the safe route on attractions.

And thats mainly Disney's MO, the SAFE way out and not spend a lot of money, but remember, this would just be PART of what would be going on DHS, since there will be a parkwide refresh with the Pixar expansion.

Eh. The Cars Land expansion isn't going to be much to write home about.

Jim doesn't necessarily get "bad" info per say, but he's more of a way for the company to test the waters by leaking info. Some of it happens, a lot of it doesn't. Most of what he talks about is just speculation, which pretty much means it's been talked about at one time or another. He likes to talk and create these big, drawn out stories for some of these rumors, but his info isn't "bad". It's just misguided.

Very true and agreed. They need to step it up on the E-tickets. I think the star wars expand should be at least as big as the fantasy land remake. So far it sounds weak and "safe".

I agree with all of this except Springfield. It turned IFFF into a restaurant people actually want to go to and the entire waterfront is pretty much an expansion. That was all pretty much wasted space previously.

But isn't most of what Star Wars Land is replacing wasted space? None of it is really driving the numbers.

Honestly, I don't know much of what is going on with these plans besides the Cantina and moving the Jedi Academy (and the E-ticket replacing Indiana Jones?). I want more concrete info. It seems the rumors are all over the place.
