Maybe they’re putting a permanent haunt there? SpongeBob boat ride. Transformers. BTTF VR coaster.

Ok, we got all the usual ideas out of our system?

It was subtle, but I do keep suggesting they tear it all down throughout the episode. I worry they won’t, but they should.

I think it would be more hassle to retheme any Lost Continent elements than they would view as worthwhile. Nothing there really screams LoZ, and it would take a lot of modification to make it so. Mythos wouldn't be as much of a hassle perhaps, but then again there's still the back side of the building to worry about.

Disney stripped Universe of Energy down to its framing to keep it legally as a refurbishment and save on permits. Universal kept the kitchen and as much of the structural elements as possible converting Enchanted Oak into Three Broomsticks.

I’m not saying they’d keep the facades, but I’m never going to underestimate a theme park’s desire to “save money” by utilizing existing structures for new things.

The best in my lifetime was probably the facade for Kongfrontation to The Mummy. Just painted those columns yellow and called it a day. I imagine Lost Continent to Zelda could be more like Dragon Challenge to Hagrid’s though. Same existing structures, yet all rockwork and brickwork stripped just to be redone slightly different. If they went the retrofit direction that is.

Poseidon is definitely big enough to leave something standing to be retrofitted as part of a new show building. Same with Mythos.

I am hoping for some sort of large scale dark ride. Either Zelda or maybe an original IP to tie in with LC.

Out of all IPs. Zelda seems the most fitting for IOA as a whole and a good fit for the lost continent. However, I would love a non IP dark ride to take the place of LC but I know that that probably won’t happen.

I could definitely see them making Mythos into Hyrule Castle

Although two iconic castles may be a bit much

But Disney did it

My position for the Cstle would be more where Poseidon’s Fury currently sits and my Forest/Lost Woods area going between that and Hogsmeade. The rest is Castle Town.

For the Poseidon fans- They recently installed 4k projectors in the main show room. They were installed within the past month-and-a-half or so.

Looks stunning

Really happy they were still keeping it in good show conditions, despite an upcoming closure (unlike a certain mountain...)

Personally I think you don't have Hyrule Castle in the land itself and instead have it be the location you are voyaging towards in the boat ride, perhaps with Ganon waiting inside. The castle is iconic but to make the land stand out from Cinderella, Hogwarts, Peach's Castle, etc., I think you could emphasize landmarks like the Master Sword Pedestal, Great Deku Tree, Sheikah Shrines/Towers, Hylian Stables, etc. The show-building having a big mural to extend the sightlines like Kong does could integrate larger locations like Hyrule Castle and Death Mountain by having them loom in the distance and make this relatively small 7-acre land feel larger than it is.

Something just came to me.

Nintendo clearly has some sway here on when things get announced considering they announced SNW for the original 2020 opening in Japan 5 years beforehand.

If this is really slated for possibly 2026/27, could we possibly get an announcement sometime this year if Tears of the Kingdom is just selling like bonkers?

“We appreciate all of you who have bought and are currently playing the latest entry in The Legend of Zelda series, Tears of the Kingdom. As you might recall, we have opened Super Nintendo World in Japan and Hollywood in partnership with Universal Studios, and will be opening soon in Orlando as well. Today, we’d like to announce that in addition to our current plans for Mario and Donkey Kong, you will also be able to visit the kingdom of Hyrule at Universal’s Islands of Adventure park in Orlando as well.”

*I tried to write this as if it was an announcement during a Nintendo Direct. Did I nail it?

Feels like installing projectors only two months ago acts as solid evidence that this closure is impromptu and the area will be sitting as is for a while.

EDIT: By a while, I mean at most a year.

I think the timing of the Mario movie breaking box office records and the success of SNW in Hollywood makes it seem to me that it was a decision from someone high up to expand Nintendo

Hoping for your guess, preparing for mine. Regardless, I still think it's sitting for a little bit given the impromptu closure and the potential dearth of available crews as EU, Villain-Con, and KidZone are being built.

The view from the lagoon standing from the entrance might make the skyline look cramped? I'd imagine Hyrule Castle would be taller than Mythos is presently.

The contrast between this and Hogwarts would look really nice though. They're distinct enough it wouldn't feel same-y.
