Which is funny given how many animals get killed in that movie. It felt like Universal took the Disney scenario to the extreme with killing off animals.

When I think Islands of Adventure, each "island" is a broad IP, with JP being the narrowest. While a ride on Wild Robot's IP could be good, I don't see it as a basis for an entire Island. Zelda, Wicked, and a few others have a broad enough appeal and enough different environments to fully support an entire land. Pipe dream for me would have been either Lord of the Rings or going into the Forgotten Realms world, using either RA Salvatore's or others as source material. However, Zelda has probably the broadest appeal overall.

Sadly between LotR and Zelda the latter is way more likely to happen between the pre-existing relationship with Nintendo and the tangled mess that its the LotR rights.

OTOH, Zelda being a property I have so little familiarity with means it would be easier to please me with it...the LotR trilogy is/are my most beloved movies of all time so the pressure would be unfathomable--I would probably have a brain aneurism if they were to, say, base it off RoP.

I'm doubtful Islands gets anything for a while though.

Universal announcing LotR coming to the parks but then revealing it would actually be RoP would be like Disney announcing SW getting its own land but then revealing it would actually be the sequel trilogy.
wait a second. lol

...or better yet, Universal UK. It would give people a reason to travel there.

Makes me wonder if something is being fast tracked for a 2028 addition for UOR.

My gut sensed it would be something Wicked. Part 2 is likely to do bangers at the box office and it's only a matter of time before Universal Creative pulls the trigger on fast tracked plans for the parks.

Well then, whatever it may be, it's pretty obvious they've got something ready to go if they're going into demo.

Still hoping for Zelda in this spot. The movie comes in 2027.

Came right here after seeing stuff on X. I'm praying this is Zelda and not Wicked. IOA lore about everything being literature based be damned. But really surprising there's movement here over more stuff going on over at USF. That side needs way more love aside from just the RRR replacement.

Probably because they want to space out additions to the existing parks. USF is next on the docket with F&F for 2027, so it makes sense from their business perspective that IOA gets the 2028 addition. Plus the next major addition to USF would be the Simpsons replacement, and they are obviously taking their sweet time on that due to the contract.

You are making lots of assumptions again and presenting them as sure things.

Personal speculation on LC:

I think it boils down to IP selection and what options they had considered for the sake of this land. Regardless if it's Zelda, Wicked, or any other IP. Part of me wonders if they've finally inked something out to be able to move forward in general on plans that have been sitting for a while as a result of a potential "Waiting Period" to ensure they were confident on a specific option.

My thinking is Wicked, if only because I think the Emerald City would be an amazing vista to have alongside Hogwarts Castle, Jurassic World: Velocicoaster and The Incredible Hulk. I honestly think Zelda probably requires more than what they can do for IOA in general, and that retooling and relooking at the concepts for something else down the road (like at Epic) would be a better means of bringing that IP forward.

Wicked feels like a more "Logical" choice, that could capitalize off of the iconography of both the original MGM film and of Part One and For Good, in a way that'd make it a magnet for the park like how Hogwarts is.

I think, and this is purely speculative, if they've cracked a Zelda attraction that they and Nintendo are happy with... that's what's going to Lost Continent. If they haven't, Wicked seems like a good guess. Would be great if they built a ride and a show back there to replace what was lost, but I'm not holding my breath.

I think that's why I'm hoping for Wicked more, because I think the Emerald City kind of sets itself perfectly up with Part One for a ride/show configuration.

Having something that could have Wizomania and the escape from the Emerald City, while feeling a small bit similar to concepts Potter has done; could be really exciting if they lean into a practical sense of grandeur that I think would thrive really well with Islands.

Personally, I'd prefer almost anything besides Wicked. That said, agree that it's more likely we get a ride and a show in that spot if it's Wicked than if it's Zelda.
