I don’t see Lord of the Rings as a viable property for this tiny spit of land.

LOTR would be ideal many years down the line when a 5th portal is added to Epic.

It’s arguably the biggest Universal IP rn. I feel I need to go back and quote folks talking about potter being a flash in the pan to prove the point how dumb these comments are.

Absolutely. I recall a similar conversation about Pokemon on these parts circa 2013 when it was first floated before the Nintendo partnership was official.

I think this forums demographic perhaps doesn’t understand, but that’s exactly what makes it a good project for variety sake. It’s an incredibly safe long lived franchise with extremely solid studio production design. That tends to be when Universal is at its best. Recreating already well established movie sets. If Wicked sentiment somehow fades - it’s not like Wizard of Oz is irrelevant and this company just launched a fantastic beasts show.

All that said… I really don’t think the Wicked project would have been a thing until 9-12 months ago at most and it’s far too early in a project cycle for that to be starting.

I feel like at least for me and maybe most other musical theater fans, Wicked is something I’ll be introducing to my kids in the same way I’d be showing them the Harry Potter movies. The fact that we now have the musical in movie format only makes it that much easier.

Right heres my thoughts after trawling through the last few days posts, I may or may not being sarcastic in places, I am British, and thats what we do.

1. I've never heard of One Piece until today, not much broad appeal there then, so thats not happening, IMO.
2. A Land of Oz featuring Wicked and other L Frank Baum properties I most definitely have heard of, and I think would be a great fit, add to that potential for a really great ride to take away some of the demand for Hagrids, that could happen, IMO.
3.Pokemon, nah.
4.Waterworld, you're avin a giraffe!
5.Zelda, could be.
6.Flash Gordon, I love it, one of my favourite films of all time, killer soundtrack, fantastic worlds, full of colour, best thing ever, its definitely happening.
7.Brian Blessed is still alive, see number 6.
8. What do I know? I'm one of those wierdos that enjoys FF Supercharged (So bad its good)
9. My love for Flash Gordon is genuine.

Awww, used to love those old Buster Crabbe serials when I watched them as a kid, its a shame that as an I.P Flash Gordon has been a bit hard done by over the years, theres so much you could do with it but its just not something thats very well known these days, how things would have been different if Lucas had got the rights.
