I wasn't aware the movie was R rated and seeming to aim for a more mature audience. I can see your argument there for it not coming. But I don't see how cyclops, sirens, and circe doesn't fit a theme park land. It is fantasy, just like Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings. Also Universal doesn't own much IP properties that make a billion dollars. Oppenheimer made 975.8 million worldwide and that was a historical biopic driven by dialogue, not an adventure story. Not to mention the all star cast in the film.

I believe the general mythology land is getting replaced because it is not popular media anymore. A Christopher Nolan movie could change that.

But thank you for reminding me why I don't write much on here and just read. The joke comment was unnecessary and rude. Just reminds me of the toxic nature of forums and the ego on some people to diminish other's opinions. I will stick to reading from now on.

I appreciate your idea and agree the snark was unnecessary (although it perhaps was not meant, as much can be lost in translation when just written down).

If it’s a crazy success, I’m sure they could adapt it into something worthy of the theme parks… despite the r rating. They have an entire land in Epic Universe dedicated to films that have varying ratings…

I don’t see how either comment was a “joke”. I was more annoyed in another thread where someone criticized someone’s idea for a theme park as “terminal Disney brain” for a (BLEEP)ing Blue Sky thread. I don’t see any negativity/antagonism in those two comments.

Please alert a mod if you feel a post has crossed the line. We try out best to be around all threads, but are not perfect.

@soilsigh, Please accept our apologies; the forum’s goal is to be welcoming to everyone. As @Evan mentioned, intentions online can sometimes be difficult to interpret. When you’re excited to share an idea, and it’s met with pushback, that can understandably feel discouraging.

@AustinT, while I don't believe you were purposefully trying to be rude, this isn't your first post where the snarkiness has affected the tone of the discussion and how others feel participating. Just keep that in mind going forward.

@pumpkinbot343 Again, alert a mod if you feel something has crossed the line. Sorry about that!

I didn't even realize the joke comment was directed at my post. Neither mine nor the other that people were actually reacting to with the laughing emoji were intended to be mean spirited. Apologies @soilsigh it was interpreted that way.

And yes, there's been other people regularly making much more clearly 'snarky' comments, shutting down convo, or calling people out, then being protected by staff. So it would be nice if *everyone* was all held to the same standards and rules. This is a nice place for theme park discussion that you can't quite get elsewhere, and should be welcoming to everyone.

Re The Odyssey: its rating really could go either way. The new IMAX prologue, while violent, doesn't have any blood in its kills which is usually a trigger for the MPA to give an automatic R. A standalone attraction in Epic or IOA would be cool, but it's probably likelier Uni incorporates it into the Studio Tour somehow (especially since sequences were filmed on the backlot).

This isn’t a thing, so let’s not start this nonsense. Like we’ve said, we can’t be everywhere, which is why the Report feature exists. If you feel someone crosses a line, use it - and let the Staff handle it and make its best judgement.

Permaban. Only for two weeks. Then you're added to the staff team and forced to write articles for eternity. :no_mouth: They already got me! Don't let it happen to you too!!

On this point I’d say that if Lost Continent were whole or at minimum its remaining attractions working (Poseidon’s Fury, Sinbad) they may be inclined to keep it around longer. As of now it’s a sizeable chunk of land sitting unused with a couple of places to eat, and unfortunately the Mystic Fountain alone can’t justify keeping the land around.

I fear that many of us fall into the trap of retheming a land to something that already resembles it, when they could completely flatten the whole thing and start over.

There’s no rule that says a replacement needs to feel the same as Lost Continent.

In my perfect world the Christmas Island concept takes over Lost Continent and Smiling Friends takes over Springfield.

I'd personally prefer an IP like Zelda or LOTR that fits in better with the IOA aesthetic. I just don't like what a Pokemon
land would probably look like, in relation to what is such an immersive park. That said, Pokemon is, no doubt, the
most popular, and projects to be the most profitable, IP. So, bottom line, that's what I expect Universal to plop down
in LC. Business aspects rule.

For me it’s that if Zelda goes to Epic and Pokémon in Islands that’s all 3 of Nintendo’s biggest franchises being used with USF leveraging absolutely none of them when this is their biggest get since Potter and could be argued to actually be bigger.

Adding Pokemon to Islands which already has Marvel and Potter and JP is one of the most stacked lineup of IPs in any park. Im all for it.

While there are modern structures there’s also a lot of temples and ancient ruins in the world of Pokémon too. Some examples:

Daybreak Ruins
IMG_1215.png

Ruins of Remembrance
IMG_1216.png

Abyssal Ruins
IMG_1219.png

Some human towns and cities are built on the outskirts of such places. It’s possible there could be ruins on the lagoon side and have a small modern town with an attraction or two hidden from view until you’re coming from Potter or Suess.

What I’m going to miss most aside from the music and general atmosphere of the land is how small it makes you feel. Even though Epic has tall structures none of it quite makes you feel tiny like Lost Continent does/did.

Walking under the statue of Poseidon’s arm gave you a sense of gigantic scale that’s missing from any area at Universal.

IMG_1214.jpeg

Or how about the menacing dragons of Dueling Dragons?

IMG_1221.jpeg

I’m not certain Pokémon will have something similar in stature but I hope it will. Or at least we get something in the future elsewhere that will.
